Actress Maricar de Mesa and PBA player Don Allado parted ways early this year because Don had another woman.
Maricar revealed to Startalk during a shooting for the Metro Manila Film Festival Entry, My Big Bossing’s Adventures, that the woman was an acquaintance.
She said, “’Yung totoong rason kung bakit kami naghiwalay, kung bakit hindi natuloy ‘yung marriage namin na seven years na, it all boils down to having another woman.”
The actress added, “Habang abala ako sa pagtatrabaho sa teleserye last year, umuuwi ako ng mga umaga, ganyan ang mga ganap.”
Maricar said though she had evidence of the affair, she never confronted the other woman.
“I don’t wanna stoop to her level, my god. You know, my ex-husband chose that path. Ginusto niya iyon, doon siya,” she exclaimed.
Maricar continued, “Gusto ko pang respetuhin ‘yung sarili ko. Exit na lang siguro gracefully, di ba?”
Maricar and Don had been married for seven years but they do not have a child.
According to Maricar, she tried to save the relationship, but to no avail.
“Ako ang nagsabi sa kanyang huwag nating sayangin ‘yung seven years na mayroon tayo. Huwag nating itapon. I even said I am willing to adjust, I am willing to change if your complaints are puro ako lang. I’m willing naman to fix that, ayaw niya eh,” stated the actress.
“Buo ang decision niya na ayaw niya. Ang sinasabi niya lang is, ‘We outgrew each other. ‘ Ang sagot nga lang niya sa akin is parang, ‘I’d rather end it now than hurt you more,’” said Maricar.
Their annulment is currently being processed. Both have already reached an agreement to divide their properties and assets evenly. This, according to Maricar, did not sit well with Don, who is apparently getting a much bigger paycheck than her.
“Kaya nga galit na galit siya sa akin noong ipinaglaban ko ‘yung kalahati ko. Ang sama-sama ng loob niya sa akin,” she said.
Maricar does not see herself entering into a new relationship anytime soon.
“Wala. I am not even dating. Gusto ko mag-start ng mas better na new year,” she stated.
