Love Talk

The private and unassuming AE values and prioritizes her family above all else. Even at the height of her popularity where she had to make a crucial decision at some point, it was her family whom she chose hands down.
AE is by and large, a woman of substance and character, someone who is private and mysterious, especially when it comes to her personal life. Unlike other stars who thrive on scandals and controversies to gain publicity, AE strives to be as private as possible. Yet being a popular celebrity, she can only do as much.
AE was spotted in a very exclusive island resort allegedly with a male companion – a wealthy- looking and sophisticated Bank Executive BE. Within his social circle, BE is known to be a no nonsense corporate man who moves with the crème dela crème of banking and business.
Although AE and BE move in different worlds, they are reportedly each other 's constant company. From a source, AE likes it that they have a common interest – the passion for an expensive hobby. People who are privy to the couple attest that given BE's intimidating background, AE is the least to get threatened or overwhelmed by him.
To some extent, AE looks cool and comfortable with her relationship with BE inspite of the obvious difference in their social status. After all, she seems to have really looked for and welcomed this development.
Reportedly, after coming from "childish relationships," AE feels it's now her turn to get pampered and spoiled.

Letter from a Reader: Reader Refutes Allegations of Tacloban Mayor Alfred Romualdez

Monday. There was already warning. People knew about the possibility of storm surge given the wind speed.
Tuesday was the same thing.
Wednesday. The city administrator met with barangay captains in preparation for Yolanda. CDRRMC, presided by the city administrator, convened in the afternoon with all department heads & others involved. Preventive evacuation was in place.
Thursday. It was a warm, sunny day. It was the calm before the storm. Forced evacuation was enforced. By 3pm, evacuation center was full.
Friday. Yolanda came by early morning. It was like being inside a big washing machine, only much worse, as we did not know which direction we were being blown away. Storm surge was expected but never thought it to go 8-12 ft sometimes 15 ft high.
All through out that week, Mayor Romualdez was MIA aka Missing in Action!
He was only seen Thursday afternoon to early evening upon the arrival of Secretaries Roxas & Gazmin & attended PDRRMC meeting with City Administrator.
I only found out that he was at Patio Victoria, their family beach resort 5 days after Yolanda. Prior to that, there were stories circulating that he & his family were missing because of the damage to their house. There were reports too that they were actually in their high rise building in the city downtown.
What I'm trying to say is that Mayor Romualdez is publicity hungry & he will do anything to get publicity at the expense of his suffering people.
In one of the meetings last Wednesday, CDRRMC was reminded of the many warnings and how these precautionary measures can be executed properly. In all fairness, everybody took them to heart and listened - but NOT Mayor Romualdez - because he was NOT around.
No one could have been prepared enough for Yolanda & it angers me that instead of commandeering his ship, our Mayor chose to squeeze blood from this tragedy in order to push for his PR stint.
We have a long road ahead to rebuild our beautiful city. Armed with the strong Filipino spirit, we will rise again!
Tindog Tacloban!
Truthfully yours,
Meldy

DAR Employees Ask: Why Deposit Storm Donations in Private Account?
Source: www.newsinfo.inquirer.net
DAR Employees Association (DAREA) president Nanette Pascual said the members were “highly disappointed” that the DAR leadership had not made any offer to help stricken DAR employees in the central Philippines but had resorted to seeking contributions from other DAR employees.
Pascual said DAREA members were also dismayed by the DAR leadership’s decision to use a personal account of the secretary’s top assistant to receive their donations.
Assistant
In Memorandum No. 380 issued by the Office of the Secretary on Nov. 12, employees were asked to deposit their donations to the Land Bank of the Philippines account of his head executive assistant, Justin Vincent La Chica.
The employees were told to send by e-mail details of their donation—amount, date, time and bank branch—for “better” accounting.
“The entire fund that would be collected will be properly accounted for and will be utilized to aid DAR’s field personnel affected by the storm in a socialized and justifiable manner,” said La Chica in the memo he wrote and signed himself.
Pascual said this was “highly irregular.”
Not illegal
But in a phone interview, DAR Undersecretary for Legal Affairs Anthony Parungao said there was nothing illegal about designating a personal account for collecting the employees’ donations.
“This is not unprecedented, we did this (using the personal bank account of the secretary’s head assistant for donations) in 2012 with Typhoon Pablo. There is nothing illegal here as far as I am concerned,” said Parungao.
Pascual said that at least four of the over 500 employees of the DAR regional office in Leyte were confirmed to have died during the storm. She said that up to 90 percent of the employees were rendered homeless by the supertyphoon.
“There is no help from the DAR to rebuild their office or fix their homes. They have yet to receive their salaries; there are no mercy missions by management unlike previous administrations,” said Pascual.

HelpPH: Global Donation Campaign for Relief, Reconstruction, Rehab launched
Mobile phone users all over the world can donate via text for relief, shelter, continuing education, livelihood programs
[November 15, 2013/ MANILA] - In response to the needs of communities devastated by Super Typhoon Haiyan/ Yolanda in the Philippines, the Philippine Disaster Recovery Foundation (PDRF) has launched HelpPH (help.ph), a global campaign for donations via mobile load to help fund programs for relief and reconstruction in partnership with international organizations, Philippine NGOs, government agencies and private companies.
Mobile phone users from over 40 countries can now directly donate to HelpPh (www.helpphilippines.ph) by sending airtime load to PDRF through BayadLoad, a mobile money service of Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) approved by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (the Philippine Central Bank) for this purpose.
To contribute to HelpPh, mobile phone subscribers overseas must key-in +63-999-7-000-000 (12-digits) as the beneficiary mobile number and then send their donation using the airtime top-up procedure of their specific mobile network operator. The maximum amount per day is US$10. This fund-raising program will continue until December 31, 2013.
“The unprecedented scale of the devastation inflicted by Typhoon Haiyan/Yolanda requires a global response. Through HelpPh, we are providing people all over the world the means to send help to those in greatest need through a few clicks on their mobile phones,” said PDRF chairman Manuel V. Pangilinan.
The United Nations recently initiated a global effort to raise US$310 million for the Philippines in the aftermath of Typhoon Haiyan/Yolanda. One proven channel for international donations is through mobile phones.
According to a CNN Money report, a donation via text campaign raised US$25 million four days after Japan was hit by a massive earthquake and tsunami in March 2011, while a donation drive for the victims in the 2010 Haiti earthquake generated over US$150 Million.
Through Philippine and international partners, funds gathered will be directly channeled to immediate relief efforts and later, to long-term recovery programs in areas of the greatest need.
For this purpose, PDRF is firming up cooperative arrangements with organizations like the Philippine Red Cross, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Caritas Manila, Philippine Business for Social Progress, Gawad Kalinga, the United States Agency for International Development and the GSMA, the global association of the mobile phone industry.
Immediate relief operations will be prioritized for remote areas not reached by mainstream relief distribution. Corporate members will be tapped to provide transport, logistics and communications support to enabletimely coordination of relief efforts by government and relief agencies.
This includes “information as relief” to provide affected communities with news and information through mobile phones, the Internet, social media and satellite TV, as well as medical relief through on-the-ground missions, telemedicine and psycho-social therapy.
Initial partners for this effort include Alagang Kapatid Foundation, Caritas Manila, PLDT-Smart Foundation, Maynilad Water Services, Philippine Red Cross and TV5 network.
For shelter and resettlement, PDRF will work with various partners including Gawad Kalinga, Habitat for Humanity, One MERALCO Foundation and Philippine Contractors Association (PCA).
To provide education for displaced school children, PDRF will help implement innovative learning programs, including mobile learningsystems, in cooperation with the Department of Education, the Central Visayas Institute Foundation and the GSMA.
To sustain the recovery efforts, PDRF and its partners will promote livelihood through emergency employment programs, labor-intensive projects, technical-vocational skills training and enterprise development.
Meanwhile, the microfinance sector will be tapped to help create sustainable livelihood that would give affected families a chance to start anew. Initial partners are the Philippine Business for Social Progress, ASA Philippines, CARD MRI, Microcredit Council of the Philippines and Land Bank of the Philippines. PDRF is also holding discussions with the United Nations-International Labor Organization and Oxfam to pursue collaborative efforts in these areas.
Through its mobile money subsidiary, Smart has partnered with four leading global mobile airtime transfer companies that include Transfer To, Tranglo, www.ezetop.com, and Aryty, which together cover more than 250 partner mobile network operators in 90 countries, serving 5.9 billion mobile subscribers, 60 percent of whom, or about 3.6 billion, are prepaid users.
These operators are in countries such as Australia, Bahrain, Belgium, Brunei, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, United Kingdom,Greece, Hong Kong, India, Iran, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Kuwait, Macau, Malaysia, Netherlands, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Norway, Oman, Qatar, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, and the Vatican City, among others.
PDRF was organized in 2009 following the devastation caused by Typhoon Ketsana/Ondoy and is made up of major private sector companies and leading NGOs.
It is one of the three identified institutional conduits approved by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (Central Bank of the Philippines) together with the Department of Social Welfare and Development and the Philippine Red Cross. To learn more about this, please visit help.ph.

Not Mulling on a Rehash

Celebrities join together and use their influence via social media to enjoin their followers and fans to help in any way they can to give comfort to the disaster victims. These stars take on the role as volunteers and advocates of assistance to the unfortunate victims.
The recent and most destructive catastrophe to ever hit the country has once again demonstrated this oneness and incomparable spirit. In the Philippines, ordinary citizens, as well as celebrities have devised every conceivable way to raise funds for relief operations. Some celebrities opted to sell and auction off their branded clothes, shoes, bags and other stuff.
Some big star endorsers asked for donations in kind from the companies whose products they endorse. In more ways, these companies offer almost everything, usually more than their endorsers ask for. As a show of gratitude, the endorser/star post pictures of all these donations in her social media accounts.
A few big celebrities went the extra mile and really leveled up. They gave cash donations in unbelievably huge amounts which were not normally done. Contrary to common belief, the generosity of these stars is beyond question. For how else do you qualify the character of someone who happily and wholeheartedly gives in the millions, without conditions?
This was exactly the tone and topic of conversation between a Major Star MS and her Colleagues and Friends CF. Being a big celebrity of her network, MS was asked (or teased?) why she would only be doing a small bazaar when she can very well do much more like donate some cash. CF further added that MS’ cash donation may not necessarily be in the millions like what the others did.
The CF were amused, but no longer surprised when MS answered them pointblank, " You know what, I do not have to do that. Why will I give cash when they have already done it? Besides, cash donations from many parts of the world are already overflowing , I do not think I still have to add to that!"
