Like or Dislike: Joey Ayala's Version of 'Lupang Hinirang'

60 comments:

  1. Nope. Pauso lang yan ni Joey. Lupang Hinirang is already fine as it is. It was composed that way for a reason, if you can't follow Julian Felipe's version, that's not my problem. - National Historical Commission (Char!)

    1. No, tama si Joey, maraming mali sa National Anthem esp the pronuciation. Nobody took the time to scrutinize and make it public. His version is definitely a GO!!

    2. 12:59 I have always pronounced the words of the National Anthem correctly. Pronunciation hasn't been a problem to me.

    5. kaya nga may tinatawag na poetic license.. whether mali or tama ang pagkasulat at pagkanta, that's acceptable.

  2. Pauso! Weh, no way!

    1. I dont think it's mere pauso. Yung first part to sing it correctly is good to learn . Yung last part syempre alam natin di pwedeng palitan iyon.

  3. It's not up to Joey Ayala to decide how the National Anthem should be sung.

    1. Did he say he will decide? It is merely a suggestion? Listen and comprehend, pls.

    2. But in the first place, the right question is "Is it in the right context, forum, or venue for him to be questioning or otherwise offering his suggestions to correct the national anthem??? Actually, its rather insulting.

      Delete
    3. Anon 1:00, Joey Ayala knew that had no right to suggest. Matigas lang ang ulo nya. He could have been arrested right there and then for what he did.

Anon 1:34, yes, it was insulting. To alter the lyrics and arrangement of the national anthem for entertainment purposes is out of context and felonious.

  6. Dislike. The Lupang Hinirang was made with the history of the Philippines and its people. Everything about it, including that which others may perceive to be "defective or lacking", is already part of its own history becoming the national anthem of the Republic. And so it is perfect as is for that very reason & needs no further alteration, and by no means by mr. Ayala. Otherwise taken, by him doing so, it is easily construed that he just wants his name to be appended to it for credit and to identify himself with its legacy.

  9. Something is wrong..

    ReplyDelete

    1. It is not wrong. Listen carefully please. Sinabi niya na what if baguhin yung dulong part.

    2. tama si 1:25 mali ung pinanggalingan nung ang magmahal. does not make sense "aming ligaya ng pag may mangaapi ang mahal ng dahil sa yo"?

      Delete
    3. Anon 2:19,

It's wrong nga! Analyze that last part and its context. "Aming ligaya na pag may mangaapi, ang mamatay ng dahil sa'yo." In other words, the verse means willingness to lay your life on the line for your country. Or "Masaya ako I ikakaligaya ko ang mamatay para sa bansa na ito sakali man may umapi rito."

Now, if you change to "ang mag mahal ng para sa iyo," wala na po sa hulog at wala ng sense.

  10. Actually maganda. But we all should be aware and not forget that when the national anthem was written and composed it was during an era when the sentiment against the manlulupig was very strong. Kaya may mga ganyan at mga commemorative at mga heroes day, mga memorial days ay upang gunitain at hindi makalimutan ang mga ipinaglaban ng mga bayani natin against the manlulupig. Lest we forget sabi nga sa ibang bansa about November 11. It means a lot of things, it tells a lot of heroic action and sacrifices. Si Rizal, si Bonifacio, si Gabriella Silang, at marami pang iba.

    2. Yes. The phrase "ang mamatay ng dahil sayo" entails that everyone of us is willing to die for our country. After all, the Philippines and the Filipinos are worth dying for.

    3. We need more people like you here, charot! But seriously, I share the same sentiments. Songs have special meanings, especially it embodies the prevailing sentiments of those times. Change is okay, but the original meaning should always be retained. :)

  11. I like it more, hindi nagmamadali and more heartfelt which can help the Filipino's love the country more. pansin ko lang lagi tau proud to be filipinos but we dont say we love the philippines.

  13. No. Lupang Hinirang is supposed to be sung the way it was composed and arranged. There are underlying historical reasons why it was written and arranged that way. These historical considerations and a statute specifically legislated for our national anthem and flag will always keep the Lupang Hinirang remain as is despite the emergence of a certain Joey Ayala and the like unless, of course, our legislators are up for a kundiman rather than a march song.

  14. He has point in everything that he said and i like his version but i still prefer the original version of the song, the way it was written, the way it was sang and the melody...our national anthem is written by people who risked and offered their lives for our country and it is a part of our history,if he is going to change it then he is also changing / erasing parts of that history...sir joey must understand that there are things that should not be changed and is better as it is...yun na! Paaaaak!

    ReplyDelete
  15. I like it actually.Joey is a gifted musician. But I think there is a reason behind the lyrics and melody of our national anthem. It may not be appealing to some nowadays, but it sure served during those days.It symbolizes so many things to us Filipinos and one of those is freedom which up to now, we still enjoy. Chill up people, it's not as if he will push it. He is just merely suggesting if given a chance to change it.

  16. "Aming ligaya na pag may nang-aapi, ang MAMATAY ng dahil sa iyo" tapos papalitan ng magmahal? wala yatang sense

  17. dislike! lupang hinirang pang marcha pa rin gusto ko!

  18. Mas nagsink in ang lyrics ng kanta ha..pero ayoko nong magmahal..ok na yung dati but kudos to Joey A!

  19. like it, it's heartfelt and not oversung. yung walang masyadong riffs and runs. simple melody yet intense lyrics.

  20. When i was in highschool, kinakanta ko to ng R'nb. For fun lng. I so love my country...sobra. at gusto ko ng bumalik dyan. But i need to work abroad for us to survive. Lack of discipline and love to our country.

Doesn't make a lot of sense, IMHO.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I like it. More folksy, as oppose to a marching band-like pace with the traditional piece.

  24. 1:45 - "malalambot tayo... mga bading tayong lahat!"

how can he get away with that homophobic remark? bago niya punahin ang pag-awit ng lupang hinirang, ayusin muna niya ang pananaw niya sa buhay. kesyo malambot, bading na kaagad?

Aminin nyo, mas may damdamin :-) "just saying"

  28. Love this version, especially because it's so joey ayala. I dont understand why people dont get this. He doesnt want to change naman the national anthem, this is just tweaking the song for his personal taste/view. And funny pa siya! But i do love lupang hinirang as it is too, it's just refreshing to hear another great version of the song. It does make sense naman

  29. I think this is a very good version. The correctly placed pauses made the message of the song clearer.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Hindi maiiwasan na marami sa ating mga kababayan ang mag re react passionately when its about our pambansang awit kasi pride also natin yan na mga pinoy at parte pa ng ating kasaysayan

    ReplyDelete
  31. his version is beautiful, though i don't agree sa pagpalit ng lyrics. "ang mamatay ng dahil sayo" is not negative. it just means that you are ready to die for the name of your country. it symbolizes the love for the country.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I love the version of manong joey. Heartfelt, peaceful and mas naiintindihan lyrics. Pero i agree din ako sa iba ng sinulat ito it was during the war. Kung nasa era ka nito, i dont think maggawa mong heartfelt and peaceful un song kasi galit ka thus the intonation and the diction. Overall it was a job well done, manong joey!

    ReplyDelete
  33. For most of us, how we learned it from school is how we sang it. If we were not corrected during our school days the definitely it becomes horrific for those who knew how to sing it correctly. The original version in itself is nice and correct in thought and meaning. No need to alter the words. But i would agree on singing it differently like with heart and soul in it, instead of marching beat and sound.

    Lupang Hinirang
    (The Philippine National Anthem)

    Bayang magiliw
    Perlas ng Silanganan,
    Alab ng puso,
    Sa dibdib mo'y buhay.

    Lupang Hinirang,
    Duyan ka ng magiting,
    Sa manlulupig,
    Di ka pasisiil.

    Sa dagat at bundok,
Sa simoy at sa langit mong bughaw,
    May dilag ang tula
    At awit sa paglayang minamahal.

    Ang kislap ng watawat mo'y
    Tagumpay na nagniningning,
    Ang bituin at araw niya
    Kailan pa ma'y di magdidilim.

Lupa ng araw, ng luwalhati't pagsinta,
Buhay ay langit sa piling mo.
Aming ligaya, na pag may mang-aapi
Ang mamatay nang dahil sa iyo.
