Must Not be Too Daring

The attitude of Young Celebrity (YC) is making several stakeholders worry about the impact she is making in social media. During these times of societal issues, several celebrities have decided to state their views in their social media accounts. As public figures and having public accounts, these celebrities are fair game for allies and bashers. As YC is inching her way to fame, she has gotten the attention of netizens as well as bashers who do not mince words in their negative comments toward YC.

Although her parents are very visible in the entertainment industry, they have focused their energy toward developing their acting reputation rather than be vocal about participating in social discussions. In the case of YC, given her academic background, reacting to current events is secondary. Hence, just like today’s millennials, expressing views is done via her social media.

Unfortunately, the differing factions have given meaning to posts that contradict their side. YC is among the celebrities who have to deal with such comments. Most of the opinions posted by YC air her stand on events, which are not met kindly by bashers. Hence, YC gets mostly negative comments and most of which are even touching on her recently acquired role for the country. As this role carries prestige and much exposure, observers are apprehensive on her attitude. One concern is that YC might lose followers and thus, might not get support in case social media will be a determining factor for possible awards. Then, there is concern that her views, which often contradict the popular stand, could precede her reputation when she moves beyond the confines of the country.

Other people have also observed that YC does feel a bit of entitlement in the way she carries herself. Considered as showbiz royalty, YC exudes a certain pride, which might turn off people. Perhaps, YC could not help it as she did study at prestigious schools. Nonetheless, observers are hoping that YC could taper down a bit, as her big day is nearing.

Will Nadine Lustre join her boyfriend James Reid for the new film adaptation of Pedro Penduko?

Earlier this month, it was announced that Reid emerged as the top choice to take on the re-imagined version of the superhero, first created by Francisco Coching, a national artist for the visual arts. 

In an interview with Push, Lustre expressed support for her boyfriend's new project and revealed that she has been told of a role in the film.

“Sabi nila… Ewan ko kasi alam mo naman ako 'pag sinabi sa akin siyempre si James ‘yun, susuportahahan ko ‘yan 'pag sinabi nila. Kahit cameo ‘yan, go ako diyan di ba, siyempre. Sabi nila Maria Makiling daw, sabi ni Boss [Vic] sa akin,” she said.

In the original komiks, Pedro Penduko is a Filipino folk hero who fights evil forces with the aid of a magical amulet.

A re-imagined version of the story was written by Regene Estolatan under Epik Studios, wherein the character is a wimpy teen named Peter Harris, who was raised in the US by his adoptive father and is the next "chosen one."

Reid earlier said that filming for the movie has begun, but its release date has yet to be revealed.

Reality says that not everyone recruited to a teleseryes can really act, but since they register well on screen, they get the assignment. To remedy the weakness in acting, the production team has to come up with a distraction. Usually, the writer or the director would have to come up with a ploy in the scene to make sure that attention will not be fully focused on acting. For instance, the actor in character would be holding on to something or doing some related action. Additional props might even be around or the camera would not pan closely to the said performer.

When a project saw the latest list of guests, the production team had already anticipated ways to make sure the Guest Talent (GT) would look like he belonged to the project. GT already had a schedule for a location even though he did not undergo a look test or even a brief workshop. As soon as he had the green light, his assignment was given. All GT had was his past experience, while the production team braced for the worst.

True enough, the production team was not disappointed. As expected, GT could not give the level of acting that would make him at the very least, at par, with the other actors on the set. GT, however, looked the part. Besides, the production team could not get rid of GT because his backer happens to be the latest flavor of the month of a powerful insider. Thus, GT was not going to be just another newcomer in the station.

GT tried to act his role, but his effort was not enough. The production team was realizing that the stories about his skills were indeed true. They knew that the scene would overshadow GT unless they do something and they had to convince GT to do it. Thinking hard of what they could highlight and thus provide for that distraction, they knew that GT’s physique could divert attention. So, the team explained to GT the requirements of his scene and he was informed that he needed to take his shirt off and flex a bit so he would look great on screen.

To their surprise, GT agreed and removed his shirt without much fuss. The scene was shot and the production team knew that attention would be on the body, rather than his acting skills. Instead of getting frustrated at GT’s weakness, the team thought they would not mind working with him again, as he did not give them trouble. GT followed instructions, that is, to remove his shirt and display his abs, and for now, that was good enough for the production.
