    4. 1:37, wrong ka. Only Koreans are known as Kpop. All the other blah bllah pops you mentioned are not know for their specific kind of pop sound, looks and dance moves. Gets mo. Get educated please.

      Delete
    5. 1:37, nope. Mali ka talaga. We are not talking about the generic pop genre. We are talking about specifically Korean pop sound and look.

    6. 137 Hahah tange MandoPop yung sa china

    10. People like you and him are the reason why our OPM is stuck on reviving and repeating same songs over and over again. If we truly want all original Filipino, let's stop using western or foreign instruments at matuto tayong gumamit ng mga instrumento ng aeta at katutubo. Let's not have Alternative Rock and other genres as well.

In other words, what we currently know and identify as original OPM have also been inspired by multiple sound and music from other cultures and countries like Spain and USA.

    11. 6:43, matagal na pong may JPop and JRock, FYI. Nauna pa yun kesa sa KPop.

      Delete
    12. 6:43 very wrong ka. Agree with 6:23 jpop and jrock tagal na nito.

      Delete
    13. agree ako sayo 6:23 mas nauna ang jpop at jrock like arashi, tokyo jihen la arc en ceil and the likes masyado lang mahigpit ang Japan pagdating sa pagpopromote nila kailangang legit na member ka ng fansclub.

      Delete

    1. I do agree with you 12:44. But somehow, Koreans manage to make their own out of it (JPop). Kaya kung mahilig kang makinig ng both countries' songs, may makikita kang differences kahit paano s knilang dalawa.

      Delete
    2. 1:05 But that didn't happen overnight. It took a while for KPop to have its own identity.

      Delete
    3. Meh, Jpop is not know as such anywhere else. Only Kpop is know in the world for that genre.

      Delete
    4. 6:46 it's okay. Japan is sufficient like USA and China. They don't beg for people to like their music kasi sa bansa pa lang nila buhay na buhay na sila.

      Delete
    5. You must be young to say that, 6:46. JPop was known internationally because of anime. There was a time when Japanese animation dominated over Marvel, etc. That time, JPop was also popular, although they always came with the anime, unlike KPop which stands alone (no need to be theme songs of shows or dramas). But the point is, JPop also had its time.

    6. Agree with 626.

  3. And he is Dpop. D-lister pop.

  4. anong hanash nya, eh tama naman yung P-pop as in Philippine/Pinoy Pop. same lang din sa Kpop na Korean Pop at Jpop Japanese pop? di ko gets point nya

    1. Obvious nga na di mo nagets yung point nya

      Delete
  5. Post ng nega tapos #goodvibesonly

    ReplyDelete
  6. Nothing against daw pero ang daming hanash.

    ReplyDelete

      Delete
    2. Na kinopya din sa jpop. Period. So anong minamaasim ni Janus?

      Delete
    3. 2:06...ang hanash nya is hindi nga original. Di naman nya sinabing di maganda. Di lang orig. Haist.

      Delete
  8. So what? Trend yan. Kung di mabenta sa iyo, you're just too old for it.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Dun pa ren ako sa totoong OPM! etong PPop is a complete imitation lang naman talaga sa Kpop that inspired by taiwanese and japanese boybands. So ganyan talaga branding branding lang yan.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Give me list of original OPM songs you're talking about. That way we may examine kung one hundred percent original Filipino iyon. I bet those OPM songs we admired in the past are also inspired and influenced by other cultures music.

      Delete
    2. Some OPM songs are patterned after American pop music.

      Delete
  10. Original? For the past few years, puro revive and covers lng ang mga songs natin. From songs (and also the title) for teleseryes and movies; pyesa para s contest/live shows/tour/concert. May ibang bago nman pero obvious n may referrence from other country (mostly s western song).

    1. I agree.

I rather let our Filipino artist explore and experiment new types of sounds and incorporate sa Culture natin than hearing the same covered song over and over again.

      Delete
    2. Saten kasi mas marami ang singers kesa sa composers and musicians.

      Delete
  11. I'd rather hear Ppop than biritan na puro cover songs lang naman.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies

      Delete
    2. @4:29 then you're watching the wrong ppop group lol, dude may internet ka naman, maghanap ka kasi ng maayos, hindi yung pangit na side ang makikita mo tapos i d drag mo yung buong genre. ang tatamad nyo mag research jusko

      Delete
  12. As always Pinoys are just mere imitators/copycats. From fashion down to our singers etc..

    ReplyDelete
Music is universal, Janus. Wag ka immature at close minded.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
Puro dragging down nalang ng our own kalahi.

      Delete
  14. KPop, Jpop, Cpop, PPop...these are just sub-genre's of pop. Pop is the genre, a universal genre, and music is universal. We have ballad in opm, so does in other countries. We have alternative rock in opm, even the same in other countries. Don't you even know that some or most kpop buy songs from american or european producers?! Don't you know that they also hire american or european dance choreographers as well?! If not, then I guess you do not know the depth of kpop. Fashion style wise. Everyone have his or her own individual fashion sense. It is an individual craft. What you wore right now or what you buy probably is not even pinoy made because you also buy from luxury brands or brands that is not locally made. That is just my two cents :)

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I disagree with this. Kpop defined something new as a music genre. Actually, mas nagboom siya dahil sa different style of doing MVs. And of course choreography. Find anything in the previous years na nakagawa neto.
So I would say Kpop is a genre of its own.
Pero you should acknowledge na kpop is really a genre.

      Delete

    ReplyDelete
  16. My goal is to create the greatest, most talented girl group in the world composed of Filipinas with their own original style and no signs of kpop, jpop or whatever. Sila ang tatalo sa Spice girls, blackpink, little mix, 5th harmony etc. A few years from now... kelangang halughugin ang lahat ng sulok ng Pilipinas pati na mga pinay na nakatira sa ibang bansa... LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  17. OPM will rise in a few years, just wait for it... PPOP will be one of it's branches kaya sana ayusin nila. Become more Filipino.

    ReplyDelete
Ginaya ng Ppop sa KPop kaya we cannot claim it as original. Dahil may pinagkuhanan na dapat naman iadmit. Walang masama sa paggaya pero to claim it as original, tama nga plagiarism yun. We Pinoys are great immitators

    ReplyDelete
  19. A lot of pinoys are complaining about PPOP being a copycat of KPOP. Alam nyo ba kung bakit ganyan sila? It's because the people who recruit, train and manage those pinoy talents are KOREANS. Even abs cbn who is also launching groups under PPOP hired korean choreographers, stylists, etc. REMOVE THE KOREANS AND YOU WILL HAVE YOUR POP GROUPS NA PINOY NA PINOY.

But the problem doesn't end there... Walang INDEPENDENT music shows to promote artists old and new, walang INDEPENDENT award shows, wala naring record companies na seryoso sa pagpromote sa talent ng mga pinoy.
How can we move forward when the only popular award show is MYX awards and the only music show/channel is MYX? MYX.... OWNED BY ABS CBN--- a company with loads of their OWN TALENTS to promote. Syempre unahin nila yung mga talents nila...

IN ORDER FOR PPOP AND OPM IN GENERAL TO RISE, WE MUST HAVE MUCH MORE THAN JUST MYX AND ABS CBN.

    1. Good thing we have Wish Awards shows

    2. May isa pang problema.

      Delete
  20. Eh anong gusto mo, naka-barong habang nagpeperform? Ano bang make up na masasabi mong pinoy? Ano bang sayaw na pang-pinoy? Magtitinikling?

    ReplyDelete
  21. I find that statement super ignorant. Even kpop was largely influenced by '90s hiphop and borrows heavily from black artists, stylewise to the point na may issue na of insensitivity and cultural appropriation. So dun din sila nagsimula. Yung rappers natin are also influenced by black and hiphop culture, but we don't say gaya lang ng gaya because hiphop and rap are a universal thing that we can all put our spin on no matter the culture and country. It's the same with kpop, which has emerged to be such a dominant force in pop music, that of course it's going to be a point of reference for many artists.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Wag na magtaka. Up there in your industry it is always about the money.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Gobe with the OPM’s Sariling atin.

    ReplyDelete
  24. As always pinoys laging Gaya Gaya sa mga uso.

    ReplyDelete

      Delete
  25. Alam nyo ba na ang Pancit, Adobo, at Lumpia have all foreign origins? These dishes are originally from or inspired by Chinese and Spanish cuisine.

We call it "Pinoy" kasi may distinctive flavor ito at matamis compare to the Italian counterpart. That being said, P-Pop name should be acceptable kasi we use Tagalog and we use Filipino talents. Over-time mag i-evolve pa iyan, just give it some time.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Pop is pop anywhere in the world. Kanya kanyang time lang yan. There was a time na American pop ang uso. The Japanese pop. Then now Korean pop.

    ReplyDelete
  27. What is original about OPM anyway? Okay, I am proud to be a Filipino and I love OPM songs but I can't stand the hypocrisy of some of our very own artist and fellow kababayans.

Ballad, Alternative Rock, and Hip Hop. All of these genre are not originally Filipino. Lahat yan inspired by other cultures.

Ballad- from Europe (French and Britain)
Alternative or Pop Rock - from United States
Hip Hop - from African Americans and Latino Americans

Even if we go back to our older Filipino sounds - Habanera, Cariñosa, etc. -- humugot tayo ng inspiration sa mga Espaniol.

      Delete
    2. That's exactly my point. Kaya ang nga sinabi ko na i can't stand the hypocrisy.

If we disown P-Pop bcos it is Korean inspired; then why only single out that one? A lot of our existing OPM songs are also inspired by other countries.

And yes, Diyos lang ang Orihinal.

      Delete
  28. Akala ko si Janno Gibs nung una. Ibang Artista pala ito. So ano nga pala na-i-ambag nya sa Music Industry ng Pilipinas?

Mas nakaka-bother kasi yung may lakas sya ng loob mag judge about filipino music artist(s) when he did not even contribute anything to our music scene. He is not qualified to speak or judge, let alone define what's not an OPM and exclude certain music artists.

    ReplyDelete
Anong plagiarism pinagsasabi nitong janus?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Now I understand where he is coming from. I think O in BGYO meant to say Originally Filipino. Kaya ganyan sya mag react.

But still, nakaka-offend yung sinabi nya na dapat tawaging KP-Pop or PK-Pop. Maraming existing P-Pop group fans ang na-offend. Isa na ako dun.

      Delete
  30. pffft the so called OPM is also unoriginal.

pag nag pull up ka ng songs from different eras OPM vs western countries, makikita mo rin similarities w/ flow and even the time na nauso ang mellow and chill vibe na instrumental pero masakit pala yung lyrics.

artists get inspired by other artists and create their own version of the trend, kung mag iinarte kayo na dapat OPM lang, bumalik tayo sa mga musical instruments na tayo ang gumawa..tse!
