The Court of Tax Appeals (CTA) has approved the amicable settlement for the P152 million in tax debts of television network ABS-CBN with the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR).
The two parties sued for the out-of-court settlement of the case to avoid long and expensive court litigation.
The assessed liabilities covered 40 percent of the basic deficiency income, value-added and documentary stamp taxes
It also included 100 percent of the basic expanded withholding tax and withholding tax on compensation.
In approving the amicable settlement. CTA stated that both the Civil Code and the Revised Rules of Court instruct the courts to persuade litigants to enter into a compromise.
The agreement was signed by BIR Commissioner Caesar R. Dulay and the network’s chief finance officer Aldrin Cerrado.

Kaya nyong mag-pirate ng artists sa ibang network, diba? Eh, bakit di kayo nagbabayad ng tamang buwis on time? Walang hiyang oligarchs! Sana di na kayo makapag-renew next year! Kung yung pangangampanya niyo kay Bong Go (guesting sa GGV at MMK) ang way ninyo to kiss admin's butt para ma-settle yung utang niyo sa gobyerno kahit di naman full ang bayad niyo, I guess it works, for the meantime. Pero di niyo na maloloko ang taumbayan. May 3 years pa si PRRD, kaya ayusin ninyo!!!

ReplyDeleteI'm glad ABS will have to pay BUT saan at kaninong bulsa naman kaya mapupunta. Mabuti lang sana kung mapakinabangan ng taong bayan yan... hay. buhay. ganyan na lang ba talaga. ang laki ng 152M huh.
ReplyDeleteAng liit nman ng settlement, for a company as big as ABS, I feel it shud be more, un ibang artistang nag-settle before mas malaki pa binayaran nung nag-settle din sila. Imposible nman na mas malaki pa kita nila sa ABS.
ReplyDelete152M settlement lang yun covering yung mga deficiencies. Pwedeng nabayaran naman nila yung ibang type of taxes, yung iba lang mali or kulang or late nila nabayaran. In short, assessment lang yan, it does not represent the all the taxes due from abs
