  2. Had this first hand experience also with my bf’s chowchow. Lahat ng family member nya also got a taste even their neighbor and a mail man. It’s actually his sister’s dog pero yung bf ko lang ang hindi kinagat cos he’s the one close to the dog.

    2. 7:30 Pag sa shelter, most likely. Kasi trained na yan sila at parang masaya sila pag naaadopt.

Mas maige pang mag adopt, I salute you.

    2. Agree. Aspins are love

    3. Ung dog ko naman binili ko from a friend's friend. Territorial sya pag nasa bahay lang but he's the kindest and most obedient dog ever. Pag sinabing hindi, di nya gagawin that's why his vet always tells me mabait talaga dog ko. Even when he gets his injections or drinks his vitamins, he never complains. Kalma lang sya. Nasa pagpapalaki talaga yan ng dog. I believe that dogs adopt their owners personality. I love him so much like my own and i terribly miss him. He's in the rainbow bridge now.

    4. Aspin and other rescued dogs. Hope a lot of people take the time to visit animal shelters to adopt. If not, a little donation to support the financial expenses. :)

    5. I feel you 2:07. March 9, 2012 our baby also left us. We never had another dog since kasi masakit pa rin.

    6. This is true. Guars dog din ang aspin dahil very loyal and protective

      Delete

The other one yung big dog namin half samoyed so kahit kanino paranag akala mo lagi nakangiti. Malambing ay nag ffollow ng order.

Oo lets adopt nalang. Ako if I have resources would love to adopt stray dogs.

    8. The reason why we are not still open adopting dogs, i mean staying inside the house, sleeping with them. I grew up with our dogs staying in our backyard. Even if you adopt them, considered them as part of your family, still they belong to animalia family. No assurance they wont bite you.

      Delete
    9. That is so true!! Aspic is the best dog ever!! We our Aspin name Alden in our house, got him from our neighbor na gusto itapon sya. We took him from them. We pampering him with love and care. Treat him like our family. He just bark a lot to some strangers that passing. But he never bites. Aliw lang kasi he’s a goofy and giving as so much joy and love them. Adopt don’t shop! Rescued dogs are the best

    2. Obviously she wanted dog owners to be careful in selecting dogs. She leaves the decision to the dog owner she's just sharing what she experienced.

    3. Ako hindi ako naguluhan, ang ganda nga ng message nya kahit nakagat at natraumatized na sya and all nakuha pa din nya magadvocate na magadopt ng dogs rather than buying one. At tama naman na to do research first kung anong breed ng aso ang suitable sayo at lifestyle mo. May ibang aso na masyadong hyper at need ng attention all the time, may iba na territorial, may iba playful, timid.

Minsan for show lang, ie. bibili chowchow kasi cute. Kung talagang animal lover mag adopt nalang.

  15. Ingat po sa lahat especially that the supply of anti-rabies vaccine is still not yet back to normal. Have watched it in the news kaya be careful po.

  16. Our family has pomeranians. Each one weighs less than 15 pounds. Some are well mannered, the favorite of our family though is hot tempered. He has bitten almost everyone in the family but barely gets punished. That is also the reason why we do not bring him out in public spaces or where there is a lot of people. The owners of the chowchow who bit Antonette is responsible for the incident. Also, aggressive behavior is not dependent on the breed but on each dog's temperament like any other person.

    ReplyDelete

    1. Was just thinking that each dog has it's own personality and the temperament doesnt depend on the breed. Although I'm far from being an animal expert.

  17. Our chowchows are not like that..not all chowchows.nasa pagpapalaki din yun more so bakit nasa wedding yun? If aggressive yung pet nila dapat may precaution...any breed it may be

    1. You are so right 12:33AM. My chow is also a very kind and socialized. She loves people and greets everyone. Our neighbors all want to get chows now because of their experience with her. With chows socializing is important and taking them for walks so they meet other people and dogs

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Yung daschund ng friend ko super mabait. Takot ako sa dogs (almost got bitten by one when I was a kid) pero she melted my heart.

      Delete
    3. My dachshund is very sweet to the point na kahit may magnanakaw pa hindo tatahol. Territorial sya with other dogs that are not part of the familY but other than that he is a darling and very submissive especially to kids

      Delete

      Delete
    5. 1:23pm i know typo lang yung "hotdog", pero tawang-tawa ako lol

      Delete
    6. 4 ang daschunds ko and I can say matatapang talaga sila pag sa ibang tao at territorial lalo na yung lalaki ko, suplado na sya kasi matanda na but they are so malambing sa akin, laging nanghahalik at gustong-gusto na pinepet sila, nag aagawan pa nga sila sa atensyon ko.

      Delete

      Delete
  20. Although cuddly looking chow chow, may temperament sila kaya hindi pwedeng lapitan agad

  21. dont take it out sa people na ginugustong bumili kesa mag adopt. nag rescue at bumili kami nang aso dito din kami sa us. ibang iba ang rescue sa nabili at naalagaan mo from the very start. let people decide kung gustong bumili at mag adopt. dogs are usually harmless unless provoked

    ReplyDelete

Well I don’t agree with the last statement kase kaya nga we train them first.

      Delete
    2. This is true. Being a responsible owner means researching and carefully matching your situation in deciding which pet to get and from where. First time owners are not advised to adopt because the animals for adoption have undergone a lot of trauma in the past and may have unstable behavior that may require an owner with a lot of prior pet handling experience. More importantly, research which breed will suit your lifestyle. Working dogs won’t be able to exhaust their extreme energies if they get paired with a passive owner. Hence, they tend to develop behavioral issues. Basta don’t rely on looks or size alone. Find out if they’re really suitable sa personality and living situations n’yo before deciding on a breed.

      Delete
    3. I agree dito rin ako and bought my dog sa breeder. Depende rin kasi sa situation or lifestyle natin. I want a dog na ako mag train at sa akin lumaki so I chose one that is very laid back, medium sized and he is very chill.

Other people choose to buy, nothing wrong with that. It's still about being a responsible pet owner, know your dog's temperament kasi hindi lahat pwede isocialize whether adopted or bought.

      Delete
    5. I wish i can adopt more dogs, but my house is small to accomodate more dogs. I have a shihtzu and she barks at guys talaga pero hindi sya marunong mangagat. I've been wanting to get chow and even bugging my friend to get one for them..ang cute kasi nya, parang bear. but after reading all the comments, prang wag na lang hehe

      Delete

Paano kung ma agitate alaga niyo then maging out of control. Also, minsan pa akala mo baby hawak ng katabi mo sa resto, puppy pala. Some of us have allergies, you know.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. if you have allergies, then it's your responsibility to always have meds on you. you cant really blame dogs or people that have dogs kung matrigger yung allergy mo, because you live in a world na may dogs.

      Delete
Sa US kasi unless service animal they are not allowed sa restaurants because of the health risk. There are exemptions na pwede sa patio or outdoor resto pero sa Pinas kahit saan pwede. And before I get bashed Im a dog owner too.

      Delete
    3. 2:15 di park and mall to "showcase" your dog. You pet owners are the ones who should adjust and be considerate.

      Delete
    4. i have a dog too but I dont bring him sa restos. can we also be sensitive sa ibang tao? hindi lahat mahilig sa dogs.

      Delete
    5. Then don't go to malls that are pet friendly.

  23. My first dog was a chowchow and it bit me too. Being our first pet and me being so young, I wish we were more educated about getting a dog. Honestly, we could have done things a little differently if we have done a proper research first. It was a decision made on a whim. Our grandmother just died and our dad wanted to cheer us up so he let us pick our first pet. Of course, we simply picked the cutest puppy out of the bunch, we were clueless kids. Our dad never liked dogs so he simply let us decide, and the pet shop owner probably just wanted to make a sale. Nonetheless, I love that dog and it breaks my heart I don’t have the resources right now to bring her with me when I had to move abroad. Just hoping when I have enough money to visit home she’ll be there waiting for me. Btw, it didn’t take long for our dad to fall in love with the dog that we had a second one. Lesson we learned, educate yourself before getting a dog. They can’t choose us but they are like family we can choose for ourselves. :)

  24. I have a 7 months old Chow chow and so far he is okay. It is really their temperament to become aggressive if not socialized properly. Thats why with this type of breed it takes EXTRA effort sa training compared to other dogs.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. You bet. It is because i work from home that i could devote all the time to socialize and care for my Chow. Training them is also time consuming

      Delete
    2. I actually work from 9:30am to 5:30pm but I make sure before I go to work I take him for atleast 1 hour and half walk...he is left alone in the house the whole day. Sometimes whenever my brother is free, he takes him out for a walk during lunch time as well. Then when I come home from work around 6ish kahit pagod I take him out for another hour. Also, if it’s my day off, I take him to malls, dog parks and other crowded places for him to socialize.. he is very good with other people and because he was exposed with my nephews at an early age then he is good with kids too. It really takes a lot of work and training but in the end, it is worth it seeing my chow very well behaved :)

  25. My chow chow was my bestfriend. I literally lost a friend when he died at 11 years old. Nobody can ever dare to pet him except me and my family. He was very, very protective and super cute and very big 45kgs. I think it depends on the attitude of the dog not the breed itself.i tell people not to pet him immediately and take pictures when we were strolling bec he will get aggressive. But so sorry that you got bitten...

  26. We had a female chowchow and she is the sweetest. But I feel for Toni, yes her natural instinct is to counter attack as defense. She doesnt deserve this lalo na she's an animal lover

    ReplyDelete
  27. Yes just adopt, don’t shop. Lahat ng dogs ko rescued/adopted and are very loyal. If I could just adopt all the dogs gagawin ko but sadly I can’t.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I love dogs and I agree each has their own temperament. As an owner you should know if your dog is okay to socialize with others or not. It's always your responsibility if in case your dog attacks someone.

I remember getting a Chow when I was younger but I was warned by the breeder that they can get hot tempered and territorial and there were cases that they can also turn, betray and attack their owners so I got terriers and shih tzus instead. Some don't bite, but a couple of them do. Those that are territorial, we never allow to socialize even if we are around. And we always tell visitors about the dogs being so, to warn them not to pet or even attempt to pet them.

    ReplyDelete

  32. I had a chowchow before and she was one of the sweetest and most gentle dog i have ever seen.. it’s not in the breed.. it’s in the temperament of a specific dog.

  33. The secret to chows is to socialize the dog at an early age so it is used to people. We always have parties in the house and we carried her around as a pup and let the guests pet and carry her. But we made sure they were dog lovers who did not stress her out. Now she looks forward to meeting people during walks

Just sharing.

  40. I had a chow and sobrang tapang and he bit everyone sa family. kaya very careful na kami sa kanya eversince. very moody and pg nainis, kagat agad. ang alam ko, kapag male chow, tendency daw talaga maging alpha dog. so tama na dapt bata pa lang nasosocialize na. naging protective kasi kami nung baby pa siya since 3 pups na namin ang namatay coz of parvo. natakot lang kami na baka maulit kaya ayun, more than 1 yr old na siya bago isocialize. yun lang, pagrabe ng pagrabe yung temper niya and territorial.
