  1. Congrats Paolo and Barbs for winning Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor respectively. Send "Die Beautiful" to Oscars, yan ang bet nila. Yung may mga ipinaglalaban.

    1. A LOT OF MY CLASSMATES WHO ARE QUALITY FILM GEEKS LIKE SEKLUSYON. BUT I LIKE DIE BEAUTIFUL. HAHA.

      Delete

      Delete
    3. Anon 12:59 I have to agree with you. Jusme!

      Delete
    4. I saw Seklusyon but for me the ending was wanting. I also felt like there were so many holes in the script and a lot more needs explaining to create a solid story. The four deacons' backstory could have been better told if flashbacks were shown and most specially when it comes to the part of Ronnie Alonte and Rhedd being his daughter. The beginning of the movie was beautiful and full of promise. Cinematography, costumes and setting were perfectly dark and disturbing, just apt for a horror movie.

    5. wow naman quality film geeks how to be them po hehehe

  4. Mmff prediction... supporting actress rhed bustamante. Supporting actor. Christian bables Best actress eugene domingo/ irma adlawan. Best actor paolo ballesteros hihihi

  5. Ang galing ng pagkakagawa sa Seklusyon. The movie has a powerful, significant message that was presented in a way that is easy to 'get'.

    3. A 9:12, nothing wrong with what 12:15 said. the sentence is just missing correct punctuation.

    4. Best picture and best editing.

Despite that ok na rin para naman makatulong to pull it up. sana nga makabawi pa in the succeeding days ang Sunday Beauty Queen.

    1. Are you a fan of Ronnie? A fan of Seklusyon as a movie? It's a good film. But have you seen SBQ? I saw all 8. I like all except Nora's Kabisera. And for me, SBQ winning the Best Picture award is well-deserved.

      Delete
  11. Ha?

Seems like the "awards" are being given away to appease the winning director, who also happens to be the most ma-kuda of all, and to give consolation to the best picture, which is a documentary---what?!

And technical side Seklusyon got the highest scores. If you look at Oscars this year Mad Max ang nakakuha ng madami technical awards pero iba pa din ang nakakuha ng best picture. Youre welcome :)

      Delete
    2. Oscars yun day di MMFF , feeling genius ka naman dyan 2:22

      Delete
11:04? I hope bago ka nagcomment e napanood mo ang Sunday Beauty Queen?

      Delete
    4. I don't really want to sound too condescending pero 11:04 matuto ka naman mag-analyze.

      Delete
    5. 1) Logically, 1104 is correct re how Best Direction & Best Picture were awarded.

      2) Having a documentary prevail with the top honor is unheard of even in other countries' film festivals. There is a category for documentaries, simply because technically, it is a different animal from feature films. The flow of the way stories are told are different and there is not much work put into the production of the documentary, in that, you cannot create a script or screenplay for it. You just let the documentary unfold and tell its story, while in a feature film, there is a script, screenplay, it can be edited based on how the director wishes to tell the story. The dynamics are very different.

So, as a matter of principle, they shouldn't be judged using the same criteria for the same category. What was it that edged the second best picture? Can they clarify why the second best picture did not get the top prize? Regardless of which film it was. How did they measure the failings of the other feature films vs. the documentary that won the best picture award?

      3) All the more it seems that they were "giving away" the awards to validate all the entries as pure quality films. I mean, they can't really award the people in the documentary with best acting awards because they were not acting, right? So, to appease certain groups, they give it an award, the best one at that.

Perhaps for 2017, they can start revamping and/or regulating the award giving bodies across the board to gain more credibility.

      Delete
    6. Nag analyze naman yung mag comment sa 11:04. Tama naman siya.

      Delete
    7. Wow 1000 AM! Binasa ko talaga lahat ng kinoment mo. I fully agree with you na dapat magkaiba ng category ang docu sa feature films. Kudos for the effort you put in breaking down your point. 👍

      Delete

      Delete

      Delete
    13. 10:00, thanks for your comment. Because a lot of people do not know the difference between the documentary v. feature films, they think that what the new MMFF committee did was right.

  19. Infer parang naniniwala na ko na MMFF should be for indie movies talaga para mabuksan naman ang door of opportunities for them hindi yung mga malalaking producers at artista na lang lagi. Kumikita din naman ang malalaking players even without MMFF. Sana lagi nang Indie festival every year!

    1. It will also widen our perspective when it comes to Filipino films. In a way, matututo ang tao kung ano any may kalidad at wala.

      Delete
    2. Mas maganda gumawa sila ng sarili nilang fest like Indie Film Festival kasi sa totoo lang first time kung di nanood ng sine sa MMFF mas bet ko pa rin mainstream movies

      Delete
    3. MMFF was organized primarily to RAISE FUND to support the different organizations whose concerns are to help the film industry. With regards to quality film , me FAMAS , URIAN and other award giving bodies .

      Delete
    4. 11:26 AND 11:57 - TAMA. ITAAS ANG KALIKAD NG PELIKULANG PILIPINO. NO TO BASURA FILMS PLEASE!

      Delete
    5. 11:59 kung first time mong HINDI nanuod, pwes, first time kong nanuod ng MMFF. And not only once but thrice, aapat pa kung maihahabol si Sally.
At dahil mahilig ka sa mainstream, i HIGHLY suggest you watch septic. Swak na swak sayo ang pelikulang yun.

      Delete
    6. 12:09. Ano pinagsasabi mo? This is the best chritsmas gift of mmff to the filipinos. Keep it up. Wag pa pressure sa big movie producers.

      Delete
    7. 3:03 anong pinagsasabe mong gift ?

    9. 11:59 may cinema one originals na for indie films

      Delete
    10. ngayon lang din ako nanood ng mmff, maganda kase line up. no offense sa mahilig sa mainstream (star cinema) movies, pero aside from predictable and corny ng story lines nila, hindi din maganda mga gawa. meron din naman na ok pero madalang na ngayon

      Delete
  20. certainly, not the right entry of Ms Nora Aunor who is acknowleged the mmff queen. Better luck next time. She should scrutinize well the screenplay and story

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Why it's always a big deal if Ms. Nora didnt win? Remember Meryl Streep lost a lot of time to younger and newer actresses at the Oscars. Give chance and recognize other talented actresses

      Delete
    2. True 12:05AM.

      Delete
    3. Nora has nothing to prove anymore. She was there at the golden era of the mmff. My wish is for Nora to fix her long delayed vocal chords and also yes, be selective in her roles by looking at good stories.

      Delete

Nasabihan yata sila lahat na huwag paingayin ang film fest this year. Bitter mode! Lol

      Delete
    4. Out of place sila lol puro kasi starlet at bano umarte yung mga cast sorry not sorry

      Delete

      Delete
    6. Oo, panalo sila sa padding. Hahaha

      Delete
    7. 1156, die beautiful and saving sally are considered "feel good movies" WITH depth. Try watching it. ;)

    8. Bakit ba lahat galit sa ABSCBN? At lahat kino-connect nyo? Kaloka tong mga trolls na to. Pag nag ingay may padding, pag tahimik bitter. Andami nyong hanash eh asan ang ABS and asan kayo?

      --Proud Tard of ABSCBN.

    27. 2:38 ate kasi sana hindi mo na sinabing "pure girl". minsan may mga naooffend. think before you click po, choose the right words. para iwas away at bash na rin. pero try mo ding i watch yung die beautiful, maganda sya and sense talaga yung film, hindi mo masasabing basura film. kung di mo trip, it's ok, just like other people here, hindi nila trip ang VKJ.

      Delete

1. Technical wise magaling talafa ang seklusyon. Maganda sana yung story and it was scary during the first half of the film pero naging boring as it draws to conclusion. Mejo di maganda ang story telling nya sad to say. Personally nasasayangan ako sa film story wise but the kid playing the demon was great. But still congrats to Seklusyon team and direk matti! :)

    3. Yes. Watch all na lang except Kabisera lol di maganda.

      Delete
    4. I watched Oro twice. Affected ako nang one week mula premier night. Umulit pa ako. Affected ulit. It lingers. Oro nga bet ko for Best Film

      Delete
    5. Oro is good.

      Delete
  25. Have seen Sunday Beauty Queen, Die Beautiful and Seklusyon so far. Next is Oro. And based on the winners above, my gut feel seems working for me. Sunday Beauty Queen, a documentary, winning Best Picture is a first in MMFF if I am not mistaken. OFW phenomenon and as a topic for popular culture has been with us for decades but the movie has made it current once again.

  26. Parang mas may credibility ang awarding this year ah. Congrats to all the winners.

  27. Just watched Die Beautiful, entertaining sya.

Una, magkaiba yung ginampanan nila--main vs supporting (a very important supporting role naman). Pangalawa, mas "exposed" na kasi tayo kay Paolo while kay Christian (kunwari close kami, 1st name basis...lol) medyo fresh yung datingan nya. All in all, maganda naman yug nagig combo nina Trisha at Barbs so wag na lang natin i-compare. Hehe...✌

    2. Pareho silang magaling.

  29. Well deserve lahat ng winners. At deserve ni Rhian ang star of the night. Hehe.

  30. namakyaw ang seklusyon but at the end of the day ayon ang Sunday Beauty Queen ang panalaong best picture. Well, enough said ibigay na lang yan so at least could help boost its ticket sale. Sayang naman if hindi kumita. Sana lahat ng pelikula kumita this MMFF.

    3. But for those who have watched the 8 films ranked sunday beauty queen as their number 1 movie. So maybe may something naman talaga dun kaya naging best picture.

    4. 12:18 and 1:50 Are you a fan of Ronnie? A fan of Seklusyon as a movie? It's a good film. But have you seen SBQ? I saw all 8. I like all except Nora's Kabisera. And for me, SBQ winning the Best Picture award is well-deserved.

  33. Congratulations to the winners they truly deserved the awards!!!

Binalik lang naman nila ang MMFF during the Golden Age of the Ph film industry na mostly ang mga pasok na films ay from Lino Brocka, Mike de leon, Ishmael Bernal, Marilou Diaz-Abaya, and other film geniuses. Kulang pa nga eh, mas bongga and more profound nga yung mga movies na yun compared sa ngayon, so there's no way na para sa ibang venue ang mga indie flicks. I also wonder why most of the bitterness only goes to the indie flicks because Vince, Kath, and James was included, so the MMFF committee wasn't biased at all.

Just accept this fabulous change. This is our country's version of Cannes, Venice, Tokyo, Locarno, Berlin, film festivals etc. although it's not international yet. At least, we're representing our country right. This will pave the way to a worthier, more thought-provoking, and more diverse movie industry. Many are supporting it, so I highly believe that the giant producers like Mother Lily, etc. will level-up their game. I'm very hopeful about it. Kudos again to the committee for the change that came to the MMFF! :)

  40. Yung star cinema buti dalawa ang sinalang na film, yung isa reject yung isa pasok. Daming kinita ha. Kaya yung ibang film outlets jan dapat damihan yung gagawin next year, tapos yung deserve pumasok, di yung mema lang.

  53. Bkit pag si Nora Aunor talo, its a big deal? Di nyo b alam n even the great Meryl Streep had 20+ nominations sa oscars but won twice p lang? That means madami din syang talo.

Now's the chance ngayong nagbago n takbo mg MMFF.
