Presumed Extra

That morning, Network Newbie (NN) woke up early full of excitement. The day marked his first step towards the realization of his dream, which is something that he felt his former network could not do to his career anymore. Instead of valuing loyalty, NN decided to move even if that means starting from the bottom.

Unlike his peers who made the move, the entry of NN into his new station was not given as much publicity. NN quietly slipped into his new station without much fuss. Sadly, his absence in his previous home was not noticed at all. NN became impatient when he was not getting the breaks he felt he needed, such as more substantial roles in challenging projects. NN wanted to develop his acting range, from comedy to drama, but his network could only do so much. Worse, the preoccupation with Hot Idol (HI) seems to have resulted in his former network ignoring its other talents. NN felt left out, and wanted freedom.

The desire for better roles seems to have come true for NN when he made the move. He was seen in a minor role in a movie and soon, he received the coveted call slip that he was going to have a role in a teleserye with a hot loveteam.

Thus, that morning, NN prepared for his role, and arriving early, he stayed at the tent for the actors of the teleserye while waiting to be called for his scene. In a few minutes, Lead Actress (LA) and Lead Performer (LP) entered the tent. NN smiled at the couple and hoped for a pleasant welcome. Instead, LP approached him and told him to leave the tent, which was reserved for lead actors of the project only. Besides, LA was tired and wanted to rest. Further, she needed privacy.

Shocked at the reception coming from LP, NN had no choice but to leave immediately. No one from the production was around to introduce him formally to the couple and tell them that he was the latest addition to the show. Still, NN felt so small, like an extra, which would have never happened had he stayed in his former network. Incidentally, even when he was starting out, he was accorded with respect because people in his former network knew of his connection with an influential insider.
