The Professional Artist Managers, Inc. ("PAMI") has called for an emergency meeting in response to the letter of complaint received from actor Ping Medina dated 30 November 2016 regarding an incident that happened during the shooting of a scene for the film "Bubog", involving his co-actor, Baron Geisler.
Ping Medina wrote that "Baron urinated on my torso and face without my permission." PAMI strongly condemns this disgusting act and behavior of Geisler.
After a thorough discussion and deliberation during the meeting, in the presence of Geisler's manager and PAMI member, Arnold Vegafria, PAMI unanimously arrived at the decision to inhibit all our artists from working with Geisler in any movie and television projects for an indefinite period.
PAMI received Vegafria's assurance that he will refuse to accept any projects until such time that Geisler is mentally fit and psychologically stable to resume his work as an actor.
In addition, Vegafria filed a formal complaint questioning the capacity of the movie's producer/director, Arlyn Dela Cruz, to exercise control and assume full responsibility on the set, that could have prevented this regrettable incident to happen.
As managers, when we send our artists to the set, it is with our complete trust that the producer and director will protect and ensure the safety of our artists. Therefore, we have also unanimously agreed to inhibit all our artists from accepting any projects involving Arlyn Dela Cruz.
As always, PAMI is together with the industry in aspiring for a healthy, safe and professional working environment.

After all sya naman ang may sabi she gave Baron the benefit of the doubt nung kinuha nya kasi alam nyang may bad history na. So dapat sya mismo, nagtake ng extra steps to ensure na walang gagawin si Baron na kakaiba. She is the director. She has the upper hand.
DeleteSo fair lang yang sa PAMI. Wag po tayong masyadong bulag na dahil si Baron ang nambastos, sya lang ang may mali at sya lang ang dapat na binigyan ng sanction. Again, director po yung Arlyn. She should have been more proactive.

Sobrang mali talaga yung kay Baron pero I agree din sa sinabi ni Baron na Arlyn is trying to pull off a Brillante Mendoza. Kaya hindi sya sumigaw ng CUT kasi sa tingin nya maganda yung ginawa ni Baron. Organic. Pero nagbackfire kasi nga nabastos si Ping. So yeah, tama lang yan na pati sya may ganyan. Ang kawawa dito si Ping. Everything that happened could have been prevented, all in the expense of Ping. Tapos naealan pa sya ng project kasi he decided to drop out becauae of the trauma. Tsk

This one of the fundamental problems we have as a society in the Philippines. Culturally, we tend to like minimizing the rights of those who have been aggrieved because it is "too much trouble" to fight for our rights for equal treatment.
Ping was there to do his job. Baron and the Director simply did not, because they both went off-script. Nadehado na yung tao, tapos siya pa yung dapat magparaya na lang habang yung direktor panay ang "hugas-kamay" posts sa social media at si Baron nagtatago sa ilalim ng saya ng "artistic liberties as a method actor?" Those are bul****t justifications to their negligent and irresponsible acts towards a colleague. That is not right.
And yes, people lose their jobs for sh** like that. But why is it "too much" if Ping asserts his legal rights against those who jeopardized his health, safety, and future earning potential in his field? All those aspects were impacted in this case, weren't they? Paano yung rights ni Ping? #thinkaboutthat
And one last thing, it was quite obvious that between the two actors, severing ties and "unfriending each other" seem to be what they have decided to do moving forward; but I find it uncanny that the director craftily leveraged her friendship with Ping to skirt her way around what her true accountabilities are in the matter. Siya pinatawad at kinampihan pero si Baron hindi.

Pero si Baron kasi ang pinag-uusapan dito, kahit sinong matino at maayos na director ay magiging biktima dahil sa sama ng ugali ni Baron. Si Baron ang may mali. At ang tanging mali ng director ay hindi niya kinaya hawakan si Baron.

The actors... in her set... trusted that she would take the steps to ensure their safety. Baron told her he was going to do something... she didn't even bother clarifying. Then, you placed both actors in a very small space... where if something terrible happened... you won't be able to safely help your actors? Lastly, she made both actors feel they were the leads and then no and then yes and then no. What the heck.

Pangalawa, bakit nung nasa eksena na hindi man lng pina-cut to think na nakikita naman ng lahat yung nangyayari. Bakit hinayaan pa na matapos pa yung eksena. Pangatlo, bakit nagdadalawang isip pa siya na isama yung scene sa kabuuan ng movie, bakit d n lng tanggalin tlga.

ReplyDeleteUmmm... first off... she knew the kind of actor she hired. Secondly, as the director... you assume full responsibility for things that will happen in the set. For an actor like Baron... who is a liability... if you hired him... you need to make sure that you put things in place that will ensure the safety of your team.
DeleteThe actions she did not take... having someone there, having a camera there etc... meant she was being negligent... especially knowing full well the kind of actor Baron is. She didn't even bother clarifying what he was going to do when he told her that he was going to do something.

DeleteThe penalty of the director is too steep. She should be given a time period of say 3 to six months. One year MAXIMUM. Si Baron minimum of five years suspension.
