Actor Robin Padilla on Thursday appeared before the Nationa Bureau of Investigation-Cybercrime Division (NBI) to file online libel charges a twitter user who allegedly bashed him during Monday’s polls.

In a letter addressed to NBI-CCD chief Ronald Aguto Jr., Padilla asked the Bureau to identify and locate the Twitter user Miss Krizzy (@krizzy_kalerqui).

In a three-page complaint, Padilla quoted Miss Krizzy’s tweet on May 9 which said: “This is a clear violation of election law. Throw him in jail!”

On May 9, Miss Krizzy posted a screenshot of Padilla’s Instagram post of a shaded ballot. Both Padilla’s and Miss Krizzy’s post has been deleted since.

Atty. Philip Jurado, Padilla’s lawyer who accompanied him at the NBI, said Padilla’s Instagram photo only showed the actor’s desire to vote after the government removed his right to suffrage in 1995 for illegal possession of firearms.

Jurado added that Miss Krizzy has definitely not conducted enough research that the actor cannot obtain an official ballot from any precinct since he is not a registered voter.

Jurado added in the complaint that the sole purpose of the tweet was to defame Padilla since he is campaigning for Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, a presidential candidate that the Twitter user does not support.

Aguto has accepted Padilla’s complaint and said that the first step is to identify the said Twitter user.

In an Instagram post, Padilla said he is not tolerating the present assassination of his character for his honor is the only thing he has left after most of his civil rights were taken away from him.

Padilla added that if he did something as an election offense, he demanded the Commission on Elections (Comelec) that he be arrested if they can prove that he indeed went to a precinct, voted, and took photos of an official ballot.

His wife Mariel Rodriguez also took to Instagram to defend her husband and vowed to help anyone to convict Robin if proven that he violated election rules.

Meanwhile, the subject of the complaint, Miss Krizzy, defended herself before her more than 318,000 Twitter followers.

Miss Krizzy said she only made a comment and reacted based on the picture she has seen. She also made an indirect call to Padilla and the NBI to also look for the other netizens who commented and shared the said photo.

She then added that she did not bash the actor since bashing is “subjectively hitting a particular personality. It is totally different from stating a generic and objective reaction.”

Some Twitter users also showed support to Miss Krizzy.

Netizens cried foul as to why the Twitter user was singled out when there were lots of others who posted the same thing not only on Twitter but also on Facebook.

Twitter user Jesus Falcis, said that there is a number of lawyers from the University of the Philippines (UP) willing to help Miss Krizzy out is she wants to seek legal advice.

  9. Though bashing online should not be tolerated, it is STILL Robin's fault why he posted that sample ballot. He should kmow better that he's inviting himself some trouble. ika nga, think before you click.
Isip2x din pag may time kuya robin.

Bakit ka kasi magpopost ng ganong picture in the first place??? Kahit pa ba sample ballot yan eh. Wala naman siya nilagay na disclaimer. Kasalanan niya yan

    ReplyDelete
  11. Ikaw pa talaga galit, ano? Ikaw ang nag simula nyan by posting the pic of that ballot. Misleading masyado ang post mo, ni wala man lang ps na the photo is not yours. After everything you've been posting sa social media and sa
mga appearances mo sa tv supporting a certain candidate. Na hurt lang ego mo e.Please, stop wasting NBI's time.

    Go, Krizzy!!

  12. misrepresentation kasi ginawa mo robin. krizzy reacted based on what you posted. nagkukunwari ka kasing botante e.

    1. I agree anon 12:48, I hope the NBI have enough manning and budget to also envistigate the other bashers, why only Ms Krizzy, there are hundreds maybe thousands of them. I say let's just focus or spend government's time and money on most important issues for the improvement of our country. TO the bashers, I hope this will serve a lesson to you, like my elders always say "if you do not have anything Good to say about other people then don't say it at all". I believe That Mr. PAdilla will be the bigger person and drop this and hope you all find peace in your heart.๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™

  13. The libel complaint has no merit. There was no malice on the part of the Twitter user to malign Robin because the latter was not directly mentioned. I agree with the statement of Miss Krizzy that it was a generic statement.

A waste of time for Robin to file this kind of case. There are other more important things to deal with. Next time he will post something on IG, make sure he writes the proper caption and acknowledge the source and/or author of any photo and/or quote that he will mention in his post.

  17. Wag kang oa Mr. Padilla. Everyday, showbiz personalities get bashed on the simplest flaw they have... I'm not saying what she did was right, it's just be mature to handle critics since you are in showbiz.

    ReplyDelete
  18. baka naman fan sya ni krizzy or follower

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  20. Robin- you deceived people by posting a shaded ballot ( or sample) during the election day itself...you never noted its a sample nor stated you can not vote....you were irresponsible..when people assumed and reacted nagagalit ka?? think about it

    ReplyDelete
  21. Wala namang katuturan 'tong kasong 'to! Sayang naman ang oras ng NBI dito.
