Cojuangco, also known as “Meldy Co” to friends and family, was an icon in Philippine society’s upper crust, patroness of the arts, philanthropist, and a lady with a big heart and deep love for children.
Wife to the late businessman Ramon U. Cojuangco, she is survived by five children: Antonio “Tony Boy” Cojuangco, Ramon “Choy” Cojuangco, Miguel “Mikey” Cojuangco, Trinidad “NingNing” Cojuangco-Yulo, Maria Victoria “Mavie” Cojuangco-Yulo, and 15 grandchildren.
“Meldy,” as she was fondly called, had always been involved and active in philanthropic activities since her debutante years during the time of the Quirino administration. She was founding chairperson of the J. Moreno Foundation and founder of the Cofradia de la Inmaculada de Concepcion. She sat on the board of Foundation for Lay Education on Heart Diseases, Inc., Relay for Life, and the Opera Foundation.
She was close friends with former First Lady Imelda Marcos and was known for her rubies as much as Marcos is known for her diamonds.

DeleteOk na po sila, Dominique visits her grandma regularly and tony boy visits his mom everyday before she passed away. Wag na po natin pagusapan yung mga negative dito kasi, Meldy Cojuanco helped a lot of people. Hindi siya masamang tao, she's just like a normal mother who wants the best for her children.

Plus some of them like the Yulos; Don Jose Yulo's employees were given privileges.. Each workers and their family were given a house in Canlubang.. Don Jose Yulo also built schools, cinemas, a baseball field and bowling alleys for the people in Canlubang.. Education for your family in Canlubang was also free if you work for Don Jose Yulo.. Other families like the Hechanovas donated most of their lands to their farmers.. The Lizareses and Lacsons were also known for their generosity.. - Scion of an old family in Negros

DeleteSo sad to hear about her demise. I have personal encounter with her through religious groups where she was a generous benefactor. Despite her status, she was very down to earth in person. Rest in peace Madam.
