    1. What's wrong with "Yaya"? Baka gusto mo Tita, Lola, Mommy? Not everyone wants to use the same familial terms to people they are not related to.

PS My kids also call their nannies with familial terms. But I never saw Yaya as a derogatory term.

    2. There's nothing wrong with the word yaya, what's unacceptable here is how they discriminate people...

    3. Nega much or you dont get her point? Also it is obvious she was not aware of it prior going to Balesin, so stfu

    5. some establishments don't want to deal with cash for security reasons. this is to prevent the crew or would be robbers from stealing the cash. since they're in an island, it might not be easy to deposit to a bank its daily earnings. this setup is not exclusive to them but it also practiced outside of our country. i wish certain people would stop over-reacting just for publicity.

Their resort, their rules. I agree with Maggie though that they should train their staff in how to reply to guests. For sure with your policies makakapasok ako, lol.

  6. I think mali lang talaga yung waiter at hello! Meron ba namang resto who would not want even yayas to order expensive food!

Pero i think may mga guests din who asked for this.

    2. "Opinions are like armpits, everyone has them and some of them stink." - Corey Turner

true!!! bakit ba kasi nega kagad ang dating pag sinabing yaya meal. MAY PILITAN BANG NANGYARI? EH PUEDE NAMAN LUMAMON NG REGULAR MEAL ANG MGA MIMAY NA YAN!!! Mga tao talaga maka opinyon lang. Puede ba magsitigil kayo!!!

      Delete
What they shouldn't have done is made "yaya meals" in the first place. They may have less expensive items on the menu, which everyone with an appetite and an ability to pay can order, but having yaya meals and insisting on them? Ridiculous practice. Not even in the most affluent countries do they have yaya meals.

The idea stems from condescension and stinks of human segregation.

      Delete

      Delete
    5. I concur.

Ang dating sa akin nung nabasa ko is like feeding dogs w/ dog food na not for consumption of human.

      Delete
    6. Sa other exclusive clubs, open secret daw yan nanny meals. Sino namang resto ang ayaw ng regular meals for all ustomers!?

Sa restos, Less expensive , less nakakabusog! Ang typical pinoy, kanin at ulam! At ang mga help, need all the energy they can get.

      Delete
    7. anong insisting on them? eh nakakain nga ang yaya for 3 days ng regular foods! hindi pinilit ang yaya na kumain ng yaya meal! intiende? basa basa oi!

      Delete
    8. Good point! Di ko actually naisip yan but come to think of it minsan nga hirap pumili yung helpers sa regular menu sa ibang restos kasi nga di nila type yung food. Minsan nag o-order nalang sa kiddie menu.

I don't think na pini-push at ininsist naman na yun lang ang food for the Nanay Belen or any nanny.

      Delete
  7. Pretentious lang ang establishments na ganyan. It would be impractical to do that here. Even in countries where credit cards are the usual mode of payment, they rarely insist on that rule! (if a card is, say, declined, the customer should always retain the option to pay in cash.)

    ReplyDelete

    1. No because people who go to balesin would obviously have more cards to swipe.

    4. i have 5 CCs and im nowhere near being rich. Only applied for 1 for emergency purposes, all others were just sent to me. Nalubog lang ako sa utang because of those CCs, now that ive cleared them all, ive stuck to using just one (sparingly). CCs only give you the illusion of being rich, i prefer / its better to have cash.

  11. I don't agree with such thing as the yaya meal or separate meal for staff. But ith club only accept credit card or charge to the members account is a policy of the most of the private country club here in the US. We belong to a private golf and country club. Our club only accept charge to the member's account. In the first place, you are not allowed to go there without being invited by a member so everything falls o the member's responsibility. Members paid tons of one to enjoy the club facilities exclusively.

    ReplyDelete
  12. I and my husband opted to cut our other credit cards and just keep one for emergency. We realize that we tend to overspend and not stick to a budget kng laging credit card ang gamit. Anything we couldn't pay in cash, indi nmin bibilhin... So buti nlng indi pa pang a-list ang bulsa nmin or else magugulat din kmi kng tatanggihan kmi mgbayad ng cash.

  13. I get Maggie's point but on I think this is a little over top oa, it's resort's policy - deal with it.

I am sure naisip na yan ng Balesin or someone has pointed this out to them (privately), hindi lang Mom and Yaya mo ang walang credit card but there is a good reason why they've decided against yet.

In business there is a thing called revenue displacement, baka based sa study and experience nila, its better if they implement payment via cc only. Businesswoman ka din Maggie, you weigh you options, and will go with kung alin ang makakabuti sa business mo.

Go!

We heard what you have to say, we agree to some, move on na.

    ReplyDelete
  14. "Which of the members insisted on it" gurl, do you think Balesin is as stupid as you? Do you think they will spill the beans? and in the remotest event that they will tell you who insisted on such policy, ano naman ang magagawa mo? idedemanda mo sila? aber? mag isip isip ka nga!

    ReplyDelete
  15. According to her statement "I would like to know which members insisted on it!" Wow! What will she do if she found out? Have them expelled? Shame them by posting on social media? Have them arrested? She's getting arrogant.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Charging food to the credit card and or charging it to a member's tab is a common practice to most of the exclusive and private clubs, in this case, resort. If she doesn't like how they run it, particularly the method of payment then just cancel her membership. As simple as that.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Sorry, but I can't get past her atrocious sentence construction.

  18. ginanahan naman masyado si ateng sa pagrarant about sa balesin lol. masyadong OA na. mahirap sa balesin na tumanggap ng pera kasi ISLAND sya. at hindi lang basta island..ISOLATED sya. mahirap tumanggap ng pera. mainit sa mata ng mga magnanakaw and worse NPA. baka next time na ireklamo naman nya eh about security. makidnap sya. its about safety my dear. isip isip din minsan. wag magpadala sa trending lol

  20. Natawa ako sa "I would like to know which member..." statement. Blown WAY out of proportion. The help CAN get anything they want on the menu, Maggie said so herself. It was the waiter's mistake. His answer to Maggie's mother, why she couldn't get the same food that was wrong. Lacked proper traning. That's it. As for the CC issue, as others explained, it's a logistics thing. No nearby banks. Tama na to.

  21. Itong mga pinagdadadakdak nya eh mukhang mga solutions na to previous problems they have encountered! Napaka feeling magaling!!!!! Echusera!

    1. My sentiments exactly. Nagmamarunong si girl kulang naman sa utak. the no credit card policy is for the protection of the members who may have abusive guests who order all the expensive stuff because THEY won't be charged for it.

  22. This is really a perfect example of #richepopleproblems. Is she fighting for the rights of the "marginalized" few exclusive club members who don't have credit cards (apparently they exist in 2015). Inaapi ba sila ng big bad Balesin? LOL.

From a security and logistics standpoint, not having alot of cash on the island sounds practical.

Papansin much!
Some may think their policy is weird but they want exclusivity. Such a hypocrite

  26. I worked sa isang exclusive golf clubs before and they don't accept cash as well pag kumakaen sa restos or when they use facilities. For members, they present their cards and they will be billed on their monthly dues. Pag guests naman, they provide guest cards so dun ililisa lahat ng naavail ng guest. It's up with the members if they willHave it charged sa member's account or they will settle the dues before leaving the club. I think ganan dapat lahat ng clubs.

  33. Kinareer ang pagcomplain sa Balesin. Haha.

Maggie, may I suggest Tripadvisor.com or Agoda? Dun mo ipost reviews mo, so both the Balesin management and people who wish to travel there can be informed of your experience there & your suggestions. Sometimes hotel owners even take the time to reply there.

May pagka attention-seeking kasi ang dating pag sa social media pa pinopost ang reviews for a resort.

Someone is standing up to this ridiculous rule that's downright sick but you all want to turn a blind eye. Kalurkey kayo.

KUDOS to you Maggie. Sana matauhan ang ibang Pilipino.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Ultimately yaya meals exist because of the employers themselves.

Also mali rin naman na tawagin yun yaya meal, they can just name it something else such as "quick bites" or something quick kasi konti lang sandali lang ubos na. hahahaha.

    Hindi talaga nabibili ang breeding.

    ReplyDelete
It's good na nagsalita si maggie atleast dba napagusapan at naging aware karamihan.
