Pwe!!

      Delete
    2. mali pa din ang balesin.. why stress the word "yaya" if they are equally treated

      Delete
  2. Damage controlling balesin.. Balesin pa more!!! Whats with that island?? I mean if u are really rich, entitled, socialite or affording person u should just go to middetearanean or carribean.. Way better beaches..

    1. Agree ekat! The membership fees are too exorbitant for a resort copying the mediterranean. I'd rather fly to the Maldives or Santorini than make this pompous, arrogant resort richer!

If this resort had any class, they should have named it "staff meal". And staff meals are served only at the staff cafeteria, not at the restaurants. There are other clubs that do have this, but they do their staff meal with dignity to their staff and the staff of their members. Alangan naman ung helper eh naka- 2pc chicken adobo pero ung ibang mag-anak lumalafang ng lobster thermidor in her face?! Kaloka!

And a friend of mine, a photographer, also showed me the meals for wedding supplier staff. Kaloka sa konti! And so unappetizing! kung yun ang yaya meal, ay never mind!

    1. What? Maggie Wilson even stated that the yaya was ordering off the menu for the past 3 days. Her issue was her mom trying to order the adobo meal of the yaya and she wasn't allowed. Mali lang pagexplain ng waiter. Sheesh people get a grip. The so called yaya meal is not on the menu. It is by request by the members who more or less knows that their yaya will actually enjoy this so called adobo meal
      Mali lang pagkaexplain ng waiter.

      Delete
From yaya meal lang daw.

      Delete

    4. Simple lang naman solution. Wag mag Balesin.

      Any publicity is still publicity..

    1. What boggles me is how did the help knew about the yaya's meal and why she ordered it out of the other menu items. Because to me its either she was asked to order it by her handlers or the menu itself has an item that says a certain food can only be ordered only if your a yaya.

      Delete
    2. 1.00 boggle no more. yaya was told she can only order the yaya meal. end of.

    2. IKAW ang mali ang opinyon! There shouldn't have been a YAYA MEAL at all! Mag-isip ka nga! I've been to Amanpulo and NO, there is NO YAYA MEAL there. What will you feel if you go into a restaurant and you see meals for pinoys and meals for foreigners? Hindi ba dapat walang distinction. I'm pretty sure FP will not allow this post because of what I REALLY need to say to you. ANG TANGA MO!

      Delete
  8. wow !!! so it is really called " YAYA " meals ???
so ano dapat tawag dito sa states " NANNY " meals ???
another glaring distinction bet. rich and poor

  9. Dear balesin, we also.do not understand ur official.statement. Just answer all the sentiments of maggie wilson. We dont question wether ur food.is delicious.or who prepared ur food. Why the need to use the term "yaya meal"

    ReplyDelete

    1. Agree! Why not "budget meal" instead of "yaya meal"? Tsk tsk... so discriminating...

      Delete

Simple.

      Delete
  12. Why call it a "yaya meal" in the first place? If it's a budget option in the menu, then call it a budget meal. Simple.

How would you feel if you're traveling abroad and go to an upper class establishment and be offered a "third world meal" menu because you look like you're from the Philippines?

    1. Tulog na Mike

    2. Why does it have to have a label for "yayas" only? Engineers only? Why single out one profession?

      Delete

      Delete
    4. I agree. I don't understand why for a lot of people "yaya" is a derogatory word. I had a yaya who took care of me since i was a baby till i was 12 years old and i love her very much. I never called anyone of my helpers yaya again bec for me i have only 1 yaya and no one can hold that title ever.

      Delete
    5. Im guessing di mo alam ang story kaya yan ang sinasabi mo but Im not going to elaborate it. You can call it anyway you want Nanny's meal, helper's meal or whatever because its not the words spoken but how the waiter and the management has said it. They were discriminative and condescending.

      Delete
    6. agree much with 12:36! next time sabihin nyo naman "basurero meal" or "magbobote meal" for a more concise and uncannycondescension!! this stereotyping is just so offending! heartless fellahs!

      Delete
    7. wala bang patay gutom meal?

      Delete

      Delete
    10. ang STUPID ng taong ito! there shouldn't be discrimination of any kind. Bakit walang AMO meal if putting a Yaya meal doesn't really mean anything?

      Delete
  14. The point is, the waiter rejected the mother of Maggie to order the same meal as the nanny because it was a yaya's meal... So kulang sa pag train sa waiter. Let the guest order whatever they want even it is a yayas meal..

  22. Do they even understand their own statement. That's very condescending of them. They think just because they own a seven star resort does not mean they have the god given right to segregate people according to their social status.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Am I the only one whoe knew Balesin's existence when there was a feud between Heart and Ces Litton's wedding reception? Sorry, poorita amor here. Nonetheless, I never call those people "yaya". I would always adress them as helper, and never the term "maid" as well. Their job is decent, they always help us assisting our needs. So, deserve a proper distinction as well.

    ReplyDelete

    1. Yaya, helper and maid are all decent and acceptable terms. Since when were any of them offensive? If it's a decent job then there is no need to use euphemisms.

So they serve their operating staff their yaya meals too grabe ang baba ng tingin ninyo sa staff nyo.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Gosh. This is how a CEO addresses an issue?

    ReplyDelete
  28. He could have at least mentioned that they were sorry or like "apologize" or they might change the yaya's meal (name on the menu)

    ReplyDelete

Kung ako member diyan ikakansel ko in support with human rights.

    wow! Arrogant!

    ReplyDelete
  33. why dont just label it as a budget meal? bakit sinabi pang yaya's meal!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Maybe he is using quotation marks for the very reason that it was a term used by the waiter rather than an actual written on the menu item. In short it does not really exist as a hard and fast rule but has been blown out of proportion way too much.

I wonder how many people so offended by this has never used the term "Pang MASA" or Jejemon when referring to other people.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. As much as I don't like how mike Asperin written explanation... I agree with you. This whole thing was blown out of proportion.. I don't think the club really called it yaya's meal. The waiter made a mistake .. a stupid one yes...

      Delete
  35. This says a lot about the owners and members of this "exclusive" club. No regard for human decency and respect for those who work for them. I find it disgusting that this fool of a CEO, even qualified the "yaya" meal as a delicious meal cooked by their chefs for their staff. Wow! The point here is that you have labeled your meals according to how lowly you think the "yayas" or "servants" are. Who the f*ck does that?!?

    ReplyDelete
  36. only in the Philippines!!!

    ReplyDelete
  37. This Mike should be served a "CEO-with-no-sensibilities" Meal since we're just being specific here and we need to label people now. Baka he needed some nourishments in his brain which obviously is malfunctioning. Whatever happened to a world without discrimination? This guy makes me sick. His logic is a total fail.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Wow! I'm appalled by this so called official statement. This is adding insult to injury, if I ever saw one. The rich, looking down at the poor, saying, "I can do whatever I want with your kind."

Why would people want to associate themselves with a business like this? Aptly, I guess the old adage can be paraphrased to "Birds of the same feather, flock together on the island of Balesin."

  42. I am not in favor of calling yayas yayas. We had a maid growing up, but I never called her yaya. And I would never call my yaya that past the age of 10 or 11. It's demeaning.

Balesin did what its CUSTOMERS wanted: rich clubmembers who bring in their yayos, yayas, and alalays to carry their bags, suitcases, and all their errands on the island only want to feed "certain things" to their staff, which costs less - SO THEY ORDER THIS MEAL ON PURPOSE.

I am not a member, and I have my own opinion of Balesin's owners, which I will not share, because it is not positive, and I love FP so I will leave it be.

What I DO want to say is: the staff member revealed a truth we are ALL uncomfortable with, so let's all stop being such hypocrites about it.

Balesin responded to this issue with panache. And I pray to god all yayas FROM NOW ON will get their prawns thermidor and tenderloin surf and turf, with extra gravy please!

    1. You're missing the point. The problem is that the label is intended to segregate people based on their position in society. How is that acceptable? Segregation is not only archaic but also very ignorant. So, 3.01, the matter is not as simplistic as you think it is, there is a moral issue here that people need to see.

The CEO's arrogance only confirms the company's principles as a snob and "mata-pobre" type of business.

    1. They probably do that and more, on top of the membership.

    2. Baka hindi ma-afford isama ang mga yaya abroad (they need visas to travel), walang taga buhat ng gamit, utusan, etc... Baka mapagkamalan na katulong yung amo pag nasa ibang bansa.

  67. my question is - sino ba nag label ng YAYA MEAL sa meal na yan? is it BALESIN or si MAGGIE?

    ReplyDelete
  68. Bakit?

    ReplyDelete
  69. may "negro meal" at may "white meal" naman dapat? No need to label. If the amo cant afford to pay, don't let their yayas eat anyway. This establishment should be closed because its very discriminating. Masahol pa tayo sa ibang bansa!

    ReplyDelete
  70. Seriously??!! Did you even consider the words you used and the message it implies, CEO?
This island is so overrated! Ano ba meron sa island na yan?!

    ReplyDelete
  71. If you're planning on being a member, I suggest you take your money elsewhere. It's not worth it, most of the members I used to see around were super mean to other people. Maraming pwedeng puntahan sa milyones niyo like Amanpulo or idk mag-Maldives nalang kayo. Trust me it's just not worth.

    ReplyDelete
  72. it seems like the official statement came from a brat kid throwing a temper. So unprofessional.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Umm even the response is arrogant.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Calling it “Yaya” meal alone is derogatory. We should have given much pride to these people because they are doing a noble job.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Kung mangyayari to sa OFW where in my "helper's meal" for sure magagalit din tayo... so mga taong nagsasabi na di naman big deal e isipin nyo sa same na bansa tinitreat ng ganyan kababayan.. discriminated because of work na kelangan may hiwalay na set meal.

    ReplyDelete
  76. that statement reeks sarcasm. kaloka matapobre lang dating ng CEO

    ReplyDelete
  77. What a response! Class act at its finest.

    ReplyDelete
  78. It is still a form of discrimination : why ??? Because you still labeled it as 'yaya' meals ! This yaya meal could be a seafood platter and can still taste like sh*t because it's separated from the rest of the menu for a reason!!

    ReplyDelete
  79. The fact that there's such a thing called "Yaya's Meal" in Balesin is already discriminating. No amount of explanation can defend that. Not even when your previous guests had no problem with it. It's still discriminating, period.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  81. it's not the term yaya that is offensive, it's the implied thought that one's help eats differently that the millionaire members. disgusting! shame on people who continue to patronize balesin

    ReplyDelete
  82. kahit mayaman ako I will not spend my money to a place na nanghahamak ng kapwa...kahit pa yaya lang sila, they are still part of the family...and still a costumer...they bring convenience sa mga employer nila..

  83. Let's stop it with the craziness already. Nanay Belen was allowed to order anything from the menu. Again, it was all semantics. Don't be so melodramatic, kahit saang bagay may segregation. Airplanes have economy & business class. Hospitals have wards & suites. Banks have a starter account & a separate line for premier clients. Cellphone companies have basic accounts & VIP accounts. Credit cards have all sorts of colors & terms from normal to gold to platinum to black. Concert venues have general admission & VIP. There are exclusive subdivisions & villages. When choosing a car, every brand has a basic model, a middle model and a luxury model and for each model there's an entry level & top of the line. My golly hanggang sementeryo may apartment type & may museleo. Segregation has and always have been a part of society, no matter where you are in the world. Some more obvious than others, mostly are just referred to in a more politically correct term. And everyone is guilty in one way or another. That's all there is to it. Let this go.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Then why the hell do you have to have a so called "YAYA MEAL"? And why can't a REGULAR guest order the YAYA MEAL? siguro type ng mother ni Maggie Wilson yung yaya meal, e bakit di pwede? yun nga ang tanong ko bakit di na lang isang buong menu, bakit may Yaya meal pang tinatawag? remove the tag kasi.

    ReplyDelete
  85. There shouldn't be a meal called "YAYA MEAL". Period! ...regardless of how well it was made or how expensive it is.

    ReplyDelete
  86. sana nagsorry na lang about the incident.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Ang yabang na response ha. Apak din sa lupa pag may time. Lol

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  89. wow! no wonder it is what it is. yung CEO cannot be more conyo than that?

    ReplyDelete
  90. Is this person stupid? You could have named the meal something else. And honestly yang press release nya parang ang yabang pa ng dating. An kesyo they don't understand what the issue is all about... stop trying to redeem your establishment by saying na excited pa ang mga kasama sa bahy sa pagkain nyo dahil gawa ng mga chef... pwe!

    ReplyDelete

Haha

    ReplyDelete
  93. i don't this is an issue. may "STUDENT MEAL" and "CREW MEAL" nga, kaya its not discriminating at all. overreacting people

    ReplyDelete
  94. Palengkera ang CEO.

    ReplyDelete
  95. I think trademark na nila ang pagiging mapagmataas. In the 1st place members only club sila. Samahan to ng mga ayaw makisalamuha sa madlang people club. They want it for themselves, mayayamam lang talaga. So since ang mga kastila noong araw e mababa tingin sa mga katutubong pilipino, eto pa ung mga latak ng mga kastilang ugaling yun. This is a free country anyway, hayaan na sila sa sarili nilang kahibangan. If they offend you wag ipatronize. They just want exclusivity. Or purely mayayaman lang. Wag na lang i patronize. D sila karapat dapat bgyan ng attention. Mga hambog magmula sa CEO. Syempre maski waiter ganyan din ugali

    ReplyDelete
  96. CEO and director daw siya and this is his response? What an idiot. Ang point nga eh why call it "yaya" in the first place! so ang may kasalanan pa eh yung guest?

    ReplyDelete
  97. amanpulo all the way!!!

    ReplyDelete
  98. While I am not a fan of what that Mike Asperin wrote... I think the whole yaya meal incident was blown way out of proportion. The nanny of maggie was allowed to order from the menu 3 days prior, her mom however wasn't allowed to order the adobo meal. Mali lang talga how the waiter explained it or whatever, I'm sure it wasnt really called a yaya meal by the club hence the quotation marks.. kaya lang naging ganyan kasi sa sagot ng waiter, pero question lang.. how did nanny belen know about this adobo yaya meal when she's been ordering from the menu before?

I for one love all my yayas/ drivers and etc, I ask them what they want to eat in restos, more often than not they want the normal rice meal (if meron), filipino food, I think the "yaya meal"was just an option in case they don't like the regular menu. Mali lang talga how the waiter handled it, or maybe balesin can have a filipino menu that's reasonably priced.

You want to give what's best for your yaya rin naman .. happy yaya = happy kids = happy all of us.

    ReplyDelete
  99. Bakit may yaya meal in the first place? That's just down right disrespectful and discrimination and the ceo ask whats the big deal? Ang mga may pera nga naman!

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  101. Meron kayang Ganda meals?

    ReplyDelete
  102. Oh my... This is bad PR. Clearly this was not reviewed. Mas nagmumukha silang matapobre.

    ReplyDelete
  103. Just wow! Such words coming from a CEO??! ftw!!! Diniin pa na tama sila. What a shame!

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  105. He has a point. But the manner he wrote it, not good.

    ReplyDelete
  106. It's ironic kasi we are a thirld world country and yet we discriminate poor people. News flash sa mga rich and famous na pinoy, pag dating sa ibang bansa, third world country parin ang tingin nila sa inyo at poor parin kayo sa kanilang standards.

    ReplyDelete
  107. Even though its a delicious meal, it shouldn't be called a YAYA MEAL.. they should think of a more creative but non offensive term! hello?!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  108. People who are so affected by this non-issue probably don't even have the means to go to Balesin.

And goingg through the comments, these people are not even smart enough to know the whole situation before commenting. Even Maggie herself having this meal was not an issie when she found out the real story.
