Taiwanese Man Commits Suicide After Killing Children and Wife

Let us remember them in our prayers. We have an insider information from a close friend who is also the family's neighbor.

The Insider Story:

Two (2) years ago, the Wife had confided to a family friend/neighbor that she was so desperate and was thinking of suicide to end her family's huge financial problems.

Just 2 weeks ago, she was asking this friend/neighbor, who happens to be a doctor, if she could prescribe a strong sleeping drug supposedly because she had problems sleeping. The doctor/friend/neighbor only prescribed mild sedatives as she said the particular drug she was asking for was too strong.

The Husband (aged 50) was a former Marine in Taiwan - presumably not much relatives here in Manila. Their business - exporting native lamps to Taiwan.

What happened:

The maid found the suicide note at the kitchen in the morning, it was addressed to their doctor/friend/neighbor. Immediately, she went up the room but it was locked. Worried, she ran to the same friend/neighbor, showed the note and asked for help. After reading the note, neighbor then called the police and was present when the police forcibly opened the door. That's when they found the lifeless bodies of the five (5) family members lying beside each other.

The suicide note was asking the friend/neighbor to have their bodies cremated, with their ashes to be placed together and sent to husband's relatives in Taiwan.
It was tragic really ... from my source who knew the family personally. They were reportedly a good family - very nice kids, well-mannered, all good students.

That fateful day - the two boys (aged 15 & 12) were home and were the first ones to be given the drugs mixed with their food. The wife and the husband set aside some for the daughter and asked the maid not to touch it (the maid did not know it had the drug). Then husband and wife left to pick up the daughter (aged 19) from her school at Ateneo.  When they got home, the drug-laden food was fed to the daughter. After which the wife ate her food, too - then all of them went up to the master's bedroom.

Most likely scenario, they were able to get strong sedatives which were put into the food. Really strong but not enough to kill,  but would just knock out the kids. Hence, the heads of the kids were covered with plastic and their feet bound - so just in case they woke up, they would not be able to run.

The husband  was the last to go.

**At this point, let us not judge the family. Let's all pray for them that their souls will rest in peace.

  2. Oh boy, this is just too tragic. I just can't imagine the pain the kids had to undergo. Bakit naman dinamay pa sila? May their soul rest in peace.

  3. Oh my. The father killed his family then killed himself last. According to his suicide note. Pero, hayy. May their souls rest in peace. :(

  4. I sincerely hope that God will forgive the father's soul together with his family. This is heartbreaking. We may not be as rich like other upper class families but we are contented with what we have.

  5. After reading this wala na akong gana reading the other posts. This is so depressing. Why did they have to include the kids? He could have just sent them away or just killed himself only. Imagine going home and being killed! Rest in peace! You are in my prayers.

  10. This is why you don't value money more than your life. Pinoys are dirt poor pero never nating inisip na mag pakamatay. We always see a brighter future because of God. Deep inside, alam nating nandiyan lang sya at tutulungan tayo.

    2. Siguro kaya nya nasabi dahil taiwanese yung father, anyway let us all pray for their souls. Di natin alam kung bakit nila nagawa yun.

    3. Insensitive din ang post mo if you find my post insensitive.

Sad for the whole scenario. May their souls rest in peace

    4. Kasi baka they owe people money and siguro scared the parents that if they killed themselves lang, they'll go after the kids. So they killed everyone nalang :(

  12. So Ano cause of death nila? Drug overdose? Or asphyxiation? May their souls rest in eternal peace.

  14. So sad. I can't imagine what this family went through in a foreign land. May they rest in peace.

  15. grabe talaga sila. Financial problems lang magpapakamatay sila. Same goes with koreans and japanese.

    1. please dont judge and dont just say financial problems "lang". when you are faced with a lot of debts, nakakaburyang o nakakasira ng ulo. lalo na kung wala naman tutulong sayo at wala ng gustong tumulong sayo. madaling sabihin na bakit nila ginawa yun dahil lang dun when you really dont know what they are going thru. i am going thru the same experence and believe me it is hard.

    3. Dude/girl, i am not judging. And I know the feeling na magkaron ng utang.

  24. This is so sad..sana maging lesson sa atin, please no offense to the neighbors and friends of these family, if we experience downs in our life or our friends we should advise our friend to seek GOD and guidance from spiritual community...they might be able to help us...my heart bleeds upon reading this....

  28. this is perhaps one of the saddest news i heard. hits close to home since my brothers are also from xavier, i studied in ateneo, and we used to live in the same townhouse. i don't know how one can kill his entire family due to financial burdens. sobrang naiinis ako kasi both parents seemed to have a hand talaga in everything. i can imagine one parent having this crazy idea, but two? we have kids of our own and we are not financially stable as well but i can never imagine taking their lives for any reason at all. but sabi nga nila, don't judge. we all have our own beliefs and these parents perhaps really believed they could be together in the afterlife.

  29. I knew them. I go to the same school as the sons.
Let us not judge, but let's take this as a learning experience. It is very important that you have someone to talk to, especially when you are in dire need of help. I can imagine that this would not have happened if only the father got enough psychological help.

  30. I don't know why the dad decided to include his family in the suicide, but I have a guess. I would think that the dad has a ton of debts that would only be passed on to his children if he dies. Rather than bury his children in a mountain of debt and let them fend for themselves for the rest of their lives, he just took the easy way out. Heartbreaking.

  33. The same thing happened to my neighbours last year. Only difference is the dad drove his 2 kids (aged 6 and 4) and wife to a secluded spot, shot them, set the vehicle on fire then committed suicide. we live in a small town so it was such a shock to all of us..if only someone foresaw what he was planning and talked him into not doing it. Hayst ..financial troubles din ung tinutukoy na prob why he did it. So so sad. There's really no guessing what a depressed mind can do. prayers for everyone involved. :--(

  34. My mom told me she was in the same situation... She would wake up in the middle of the night and have anxeity attacks but what got her through was Jesus... Prayer helps talaga. I dunno the real reasons of yhe familu but i pray for them and grieve for them. May their souls rest in peace.

  35. i cannot judge the parents. siguro di na talaga kaya. at nung naisipan nilang pwedeng kitilin ang buhay nila eh fi naman maiwasang isipin kung ano ang kahihinatnan ng mga anak nila pag wala na sila.

  36. May your souls be forgiven by God Almighty. Rest in peace ....this is very tragic, we all have our own problems we carry in our lives but I guess we differ in the way on how to handle them. Some seek the easy way out, others endure the pain and the hardships. It's so sad that even the children also have to die, there's so much still for them in the future. But I guess the father didn't want them to suffer the hardships of life without them by their side. Sad so sad. :(

  38. One hears about news like before and it never hits home. It used to be just one of those things that happen to other people. This time it really hit home, because it happened to kids from Xavier, formerly ICA, and Ateneo. These schools are familiar to us because many of our family members are studying or have studied in these schools. So sad, so tragic, so depressing, especially for the very young lives taken. May God grant their souls eternal peace.

  40. I wish i could have asked God to give me another five lives so i could bring these family to life again. The is a true story of love that ended up in everlasting love. I can still think of that they still love each othesr in other dimention freely and happily in the eyes of God. As my heart bleeds, God forgive. My prayers!

  41. I can only cry as I remember my own father and how he valiantly sought other means to keep the family together when we experienced a similar problem with our business. It was tough but he swallowed his pride for his love for me. My father, my hero.

  42. Oh gosh, napakaliit na bagay, utang lang and they gave up their lives. Is their life worth a penny??? There's always hope, they have kids who'd be able to help them. They can also go abroad to work, there are so many ways, dont give up!
