    1. Don't judge as if you know things. Malay nyo naman may DIRECTIVES.

    2. And what are these glorious directives?

      Delete
    3. IMITATION!!!

  3. Inspiration! Besides, fashion has no copyright protection--for good reason.

    1. Regardless of your copyright excuse, it's an imitation. The best 'reason' why fashion has no copyright protection is for brands like Zara or (locally) SM to imitate the current trends and sell them at a fraction of the price - not like Rajo Laurel, who sells clothes as if he has some creative input in it.

  14. The question is, who copied whom?! For me, i like Rajo's version better. Pinaiksi lang yung skirt and may see-through sa pantaas. Definitely an imitation. Pati nga yung model, parang kinopya!

  15. It's very clear it's an IMITATION. Nakakainis Yung dahilan na INSIPIRATION. Gayang gaya inspiration? Duh. Parehong Pareho eh. Sna naman be creative. :-)

  16. Designers copy/get inspiration from other designers who come before them. Usually, there's enough difference to know that it was just inspired. This one though, because of the unique cut-outs, make it seem easy to say that it was copied. Too coincidental and similar cut-outs to not think it was directly copied.

If this was just a red dress with simple lines, it wouldn't have been that a big deal. But because of the uniqueness of the design, it seems a bigger deal.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Whoah! Definitely not a coincidence!

    ReplyDelete
  18. I think may pagkakaiba sila sa back details base on the cut sa shoulder

    ReplyDelete
  19. I'm certain Vaccarrelo's work came out before Rajo's. The Vaccarrello dress was from his Spring 2012 collection. The Athletenique collection is Summer 2012.

I think its too much of a coincedence. That dress put Vaccerrello on the map.

  20. gaya gaya puto maya

  21. Kaya i dont like him anymore. Overrated. Kung hindi sobra... Kulang at napakadaming "copyright" issues. Why is he even on that show? I dont think he deserves that spot.

    ReplyDelete
  22. i think this isnt the first time that he was accused of copying someone else's design

  25. khit ano pa yan di ko keri isuot yan noh!!

    ReplyDelete
  26. I think Rajo sa the work of AV then naisip niya na mas maganda kung maigsi at may see through sleeves kaya ginawa niya.. Obvious nmn.

    ReplyDelete
  27. EXACTLY! unique siya in a way for it to be INSPIRATION! kaloka... di na nga matapos ang mga chismis sa kanya about being a copycat eto na naman! Ano ba yan! You pay for your designer's talent tapos copycats?!?!

    ReplyDelete
  28. That's embarassing. Huling-huli! He should pull the dress from his collection but I bet you he'll pretend he doesn't know anything about this. I wonder if the people he sells his overpriced knock offs to know he steals from other designers. Nakakahiya!!!!!

    ReplyDelete

  30. anthony vaccarello's spring /summer 2012 collection was launched september last year. rajo's athletenique collection was launched march this year lang..

    ReplyDelete
  32. designers should really be true to themselves..meaning to have a personal design aesthetic or technique that came from within.

hindi naman kasi maiiwasan magkaron ng similarities PERO if you have your own perspective, it will not look like xerox copied.

At Rajo's level of expertise, i am sure he is capable of doing original designs yun nga lang meron din yung part na u want your designs to capture the zeitgeist thus this sheer number.

Pero marami pwedeng gawin jan para in ka sa trend pero hindi gaya..if this is from ZARA ok lang kasi mas market yun pero Rajo ito e na premium designer tapos manggagaya lang ng design..hindi tugma and career damaging. Lalo na now, ang bilis ng info and mahuhuli ka talaga pag nanggaya ka

    ReplyDelete
  33. Rajo Laurel likes to copy. Remember the one that anne curtis where that somehow looks like this? It was copied from Zuhair Murad! I hate rajo

    ReplyDelete
  34. imitation definitely! parang naubusan na sya ng creative juices niya. this isn't the first time he's accused of imitation. he even had this issue with arcy gayatin, this designer from cebu who claimed rajo imitated her designs...

    ReplyDelete
  35. the posts that fp have been showing lately related to fashion like the covers of various magazines...it's so embarassing that our so called "top magazines" in the country are imitating international magazines...parang trying too hard to be in hollywood. this goes th same with rajo and some designers with big big names na. people pay them astronomical figures so we expect a degree of originality from them. it's so disappointing lang kung gaya gaya.

    ReplyDelete
  36. it's not an inspiration noh...obvious na obvious yung color pati yung cut and design exactly the same...sobra naman to manggaya halos complete replica. nakakahiya! ang mahal mahal pa magcharge! eh dapat yung mga tao bumili nalang ng original!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Uh, people? pulezzz?
imitation has always been part of the fashion industry, it's not really unusual. Some names in Paris are known to buy an actual work of another designer, cut off the tag and replace it with theirs and sold at their boutiques. Sometimes you just really have to copy an inspiration.
nothing is truly original as in o-r-i-g-i-n-a-l naman, remember the 20 Year Rule?

  38. Pwede ba, this is not new to the fashion industry anymore. Talaga naman he is know for copying. Kaya wala talaga siya statement of his own. Everything he does is as he terms it "INSPIRED" by other designers. Review his creations and you will see na wala talagang sariling character and expression of his own. He even copies local designers like Cesar Gaupo, Cary Santiago and Inno Sotto.

    ReplyDelete

    1. totoo yan... yung sheer dress nila anne curtis nakita ko na rin before sa vogue. kay reem acra ata yun or another international designer.

      sad.

  39. lahat naman ginagaya , di ba pati its fun in the phil logo ginaya

    ReplyDelete
  40. sobrang COPY naman ito....wala nga na copyright law for the fashion industry pero NAMAN!?!?!.... sobrang kopya ito....... sana na iba man lang ang angles at cuts nung damit kaso gayang gaya..... and pag na nood ka ng project runaway philippines...sobra sila, including rajo, manita pag copy cat yung designer contestant tapos siya ganun din pala....

di masama mag kopya or ma-inspired pero medyo i-tweak naman sana na mag mumukang inspiration di gaya nito....this is an outright copy....

    ReplyDelete
  41. gaya gaya naman tlga si radio ! kala mo sinong magaling sa PRP!! i love seeing the contestants creations pero kung maka comment mga judges parang sinong pashushal na magaling! gaya gaya dn naman!!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Nako... Not a fan of this designer. He should be sued.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Definitely an IMITATION..its very obvious.!

    ReplyDelete
  44. Wow bakit my special mention na sa Ayyy Teh wala naman nyan before

  45. imitation! sana man lang iniba nya yung flow ng lines.. masyadong pareho! Parang F21 version yung kay Rajo

    ReplyDelete
  46. It looks like he bought the original and altered it!

  47. ano bey? di man lang iniba kulay.

  50. I just hate Rajo ever since. And I don't like him (or her) as one of the judges sa Project Runway Philippines.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Actually, his vehicle to the so called Fashion industry is his last name. Yon lang ang pull niya coupled with his being well versed with the english language. Other than those two..isa siyang mananhi, modista no different from those in Kamuning.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I really don't respect rajo as a designer. magaling lang mag market ng sarili. pero talent-wise di ako bilib. what i don't like about him, aside from copying, his collections have been blah.

    ReplyDelete
  53. DEFINITELY IMITATION!

and may i add, may chaka syang collection before, i remember: cheap shiny fabrics na mukhang mga kumot na nakabalot sa models. ang point: hindi sya talented. bakit ba sya naging PRP judge? ewan. dami naman dyan mas magagaling na designers.

    ReplyDelete
  54. imitation..isang malaking COPY CAT!

    ReplyDelete

It was Anne Curtis who first wore Rajo's dress of similar design at the 1st Philippine Fashion Ball which was held July last year. Mahirap i verify kung nanggaya nga o hindi but I'd give Rajo the benefit of the doubt. And, I agree with one comment here that fashion doesn't have a copyright.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I AGREE. Just like the Preview post, hindi lang Preview ang ganyan. AND hindi lang ngayon nanggaya ang Preview. known for imitation tayo.

      Delete
    2. so what if fashion has no copyright? Asan integrity nyo?

      Delete
  59. i remember inaway niya si @dudeinterrupted kasi pinamukha sa kanya na gaya gaya siya sa kanyang mga creation. i dont like him. fluent lang siya mag inggles.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Nothing new. He is too busy travelling, socializing and eating. And that's how you enjoy life. He might be known to everyone as a copycat but hey, at least he is living the life:) might be the expense of others but so what! Raj, make the new resort 2013 of Celine and Donna Karan! Amazing cuts! Givenchy is too obvious to copy.

    ReplyDelete
  61. IMITATION! tinatanong pa ba yan, e kopyang kopya naiba lang hindi mahaba yung damit at may net like fabric yung kay Rajo. me ginawa din syang gown, "inspired" by Vera Wang

    ReplyDelete
  62. ika nga ni cherie gil: you're nothing but a second rate trying hard copy cat...

    use your brain cells rajo!

    ReplyDelete
  63. Similar to this one too! http://www.spot.ph/gallery/2273/preview-rsquo-s-best-dressed-ball-2012/article/51471#pid=41633

    ReplyDelete
  64. I think it's not an imitation, the dress is almost as similar as stella McCartney without the polka dots,

    ReplyDelete
  65. P--- "directives" na yan, paulit-ulit! This is an obvious IMITATION. Your argument is invalid.

    ReplyDelete
  66. He/She should have made the cuts on the other side, so the term INSPIRATION would be fairly acceptable.. tska ang aura aura nya sa PRP nagmamaasim ng wagas..

    ReplyDelete
  67. Di na inspiration tawag dyan! Imitation to death!!!

    ReplyDelete
  68. I know a designer contestant at project runway, he is interviewed by a certain magazine, and he commented something like, other designers always copy from international couturiers... And he is not pertaining to particular designer, then after which rajo approached him and whispered : maldita kang bakla ka! Talk about being GUILTY!

    ReplyDelete
  69. house of Herrera, house of Laurel. mga wala ng originality and respect sa fashion and their clients.

    ReplyDelete
  70. copycat since! i guess he's always been, he copied anthony vacarello and he copied arcy gayatin's cobweb dress, too! and even versace, too! ugly credibility to even be a judge on prject runway! doesn't practice what he preaches.
