Manny Pacquiao: "I'm Not Against Gay People"

0516_manny_pacquiao_02

Manny Pacquiao says he DOES NOT believe gay people should be put to death ... and blames the media for twisting his words about his stance on gay marriage.

Manny has been under fire ever since the National Conservative Examiner published an interview in which Pacquiao says gay marriage is against the will of God.

The Examiner article includes a reference to Leviticus 20:13 -- which says gays "must be put to death." But now the journalist who conducted the interview is admitting Pacquiao NEVER specifically referenced that bible verse.

Pacquiao has now released a statement saying, "I didn’t say that, that’s a lie ... I didn’t know that quote from Leviticus because I haven’t read the Book of Leviticus yet."

He continues, "I’m not against gay people ... I have a relative who is also gay. We can’t help it if they were born that way."

Still, Manny says he's AGAINST same-sex marriage -- "What I’m critical off [sic] are actions that violate the word of God. I only gave out my opinion that same sex marriage is against the law of God.”

  1. Other people may have a different God and thinks that it is not the way their God deals with the LGBT (lesbians, gay, bisexuals & transgenders) then so be it. Everyone has his own opinion and his own set of beliefs. Manny was just stating the fact that gay marriage is against the will of the God he believes in. Don't put words in Manny's mouth and then misinterpret his statements just so you could put a controversial line in your article that will create a stir. Creep!

  3. Who gives the shit about what he thinks? Yes people has their own opinion fine I give him that but seriously does he even read the bible? Whether he said it or not LGBT shouldn't be taking this too seriously. Anyone can say anything about LGBT but it doesnt mean that it would take away our humility. Instead of making noise about this issue, we might as well focus on what to do to help our country. I have nothing against Manny, Im gay too just leave him be and focus on more important things called Life.

    3. On both: I think u should read & understand the post. If hindi naka pasa ng reading & writing beyond the 5th grade i dont think this person would be posting like this. Maybe u should ask urself that. Different people, different opinion. But before any statement given, they should practice what they preach (and pls people only react when u know what im talking about).

  4. I think Manny Pacquiao expressed his opinion but he should also accept the opinion of others to his opinion. If he thinks that being gay or same sex marriage is a sin, he should not then question the beliefs of others even if he finds it wrong, because Manny Pacquiao is not the God of the gay people, if what they did is wrong, their God will judge them and not Pacquiao, according to Jesus, people should only cast stones to the prostitute if they are pure and sinless and don't have stains, what if others judge Pacquiao and call him a womanizer, or an uneducated jerk, the moron boxer, the town's fool, the brainless billionaire, the crazy woman's son, the husband of a renovated woman, fake preacher or the politician's clown? what will he feel??? our world should be a world free from prejudice, if homosexuality and same sex marriage are considered as sins, there will only be ONE God to judge them, and as a human person, Manny himself is not an epitome of a perfect being. To end this, let God be the judge, let the people live their lives because at the end of the day they are responsible for their own act and they are answerable ONLY to GOD, not to me, not to you, not to Fashion Pulis and most especially not to Manny Pacquiao!

  5. Manny is the best boxer, he should focus on that, stay away and avoid being USED in politics, He is intellectually challenged and hence is not qualified for any government position. He should keep his morals to himself. What is the difference of gay marriage with him impregnating women other than his wife? What does the bible say about that? And to think, its only now , at age 30 or so, did he realize he has been committing tons of sins, kahit grade 6 student alam yun, bottomline, dont act like holier than thou on Manny Pacquiao:

  6. Manny has acknowledged, confessed and asked forgiveness for his sins. He is now a changed man. Hope this enlightens you. Thank you.

  7. I salute Mr. Boy Abunda regarding this matter earlier as he stated on Bandila. Let us respect Pacman's opinion regarding LGBT's the same way that LGBT's are respected by the people. Di naman sila binabawal eh, it just so happened na there's no way in the Bible telling that homosexual practices are not sinful. Let us respect homosexual people, let us also respect people who choose to live God's way.

If you want to have longevity in what you do well, stay out of religion AND politics !

    1. Di naman nya tinganngi yun. Aside from adultery naging mabisyo pa sya, etc. The things is HE REPENTED. Pinagsisihan na nya ang mga yun at nagbago sya. At the very first lahat naman tayo sinners, hindi lang sa adultery. Kaya nga merong pagsisisi at pagbabago eh.

  9. It was the NCE writer that hyped the interview. Pacquiao did not mentioned anything about Leviticus. How in hell could Pacquiao quote such line from a very unpopular gospel? He did mentioned that he is against she-male marriage, but he is entitled to his opinion. No mentioned of gays be killed or gays should bath in their own blood blah blah. Never. Just writers/columnists trying to attract audience/hits by way of over rephrasing and adding undocumented bs. Anyway, i suspect Time Giver has something to do with this. Lemme investigate.

  16. what's the deal with church wedding anyway? it's just a ceremony. I'm all for same sex CIVIL wedding pero bakit pa kasi pinupush ang catholic na mag-agree sa same sex wedding? Just because catholic people were against same sex union they get all the hate? Parang pag nagsabi ka lang ng against LGBT ngayon hate hate hater goody goody na?? People have different opinions about this. Di lang kayo ang may karapatan na magreklamo.

And about MP, I believe he's been taking this religious act too far. He could've been a bit more sensitive, quoting bible phrases just makes him a hypocrite. Focus on BOXING manny! We all love you as the people's champ, not as politician/preacher/whatever.

    2. tama. it was his opinion.

there's no need to agree with his opinion, at the end of the day we must respect it.

yan din kasi tinuturo ng religion sa pilipinas. na men are for women and vice versa. anything beyond that is a sin or against the word of the lord.
      kaya blame the friars!
or kung sino man ang responsible for that.

teka....wala bang bading sa 12 Apostles? 'di nga?

  20. I think this just shows how little we can progress as a nation. How's same sex marriage different? Tell me. It's not like killing, stealing or whatever. If equality is what we are trying to obtain here, then what's wrong with same-sex marriage? There's no meeting halfway. I can say I approve of same-sex marriage without verses from the bible or any religious belief...just pure logic and faith.

Just because you don't approve of same-sex marriage doesn't make you more straight. It makes you a bigot though.

  25. Gay marriage must be legalized in all parts of the world! Love dapat ang pinagbabasehan sa kasal, hindi ang gender. Sinasabi nilang immoral yun, pero ang totoo, ang immoral ay ang pagtanggi na ikasal ang dalawang taong nagmamahalan.

But I was NOT taught to hate people who feel that way. I have gay and lesbian friends and I love them equally as I love my straight friends. LOVE LOVE LANG! Sana lahat tayo ganon lang.
