Who Designed the Outfit that Lady Gaga Wore on Her Album Cover?

Nicola Formichetti credited two Filipino designers for the outfit that Lady Gaga wore on her Mary the Night album cover. According to a source, this particular piece was created solely by Leeroy New, a sculptor and Kermit's collaborator in a fashion show in 2010.

The big question now is who really created this outfit? Was it Leeroy New? Was it Kermit Tesoro? Or was it a collaboration between the two designers?

  3. Nicola Formichetti, Haus of Gaga's fashion director, credited them both. So it was a collaboration.

    You can see it here:

  8. Collaboration means working TOGETHER to create a single product/project. That particular piece was created solely by Leeroy New. Do you still call it a collaboration when Kermit Tesoro never contributed a thing in the production of the suit?

  9. If you guys go to Leeroy's facebook page, you'll see that he made this outfit by himself. I think the only thing Kermit made was the dress under the muscle dress for their "collab" at the Fashion Week. So in other words, this works should solely be credited to Leeroy.

    He even exhibited these:

  10. It is Leeroy New's creation. During the fashion show where it was shown, only the dress underneathe and the shoes were Kermit's. Since the sculpted silicon armor was made by Leeroy, he should just be credited for it. Pak!!!

  11. From stulebible' she’s wearing a rubber top designed by Kermit Tesoro and sculptor Leeroy New'
I think it should be - " a rubber top designed and made by leeroy new in collaboration with Kermit Tesoro"

  12. Ahhh. So it's solely by Leeroy New? Ok! Akala ko kay Kermit. Now I know! :)

I want to bitch slap you now.

  14. try asking kermit kung ano ginawa nya sa production and creation ng muscle suit and i doubt if may masasabi siya. paano naging collaboration yun kung wala man lang contribution yung tao doon sa piece - monetary, conceptual, even sa production?

in fact, sa actual show, hindi nya man lang daw binigyan ng credit si leeroy.

It's her fault kaya nagkaroon ng issue. 'Wag ganun. Palusot pa kasi eh. Tsk. Anyway, it's all good now that the issue has been cleared. Good job, Kermit and Leeroy! :D

  16. even Leeroy's album of the muscle dress on his facebook shows that he was the only one who designed and made ithttps://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10150363620739932.372025.610144931&type=3

yung shoes lang kay kermit tesoro as shown herehttp://strycatcher.multiply.com/photos/album/37/Attempts_at_Fashion_x_ArtSculpture#

  17. whoever made it, should that be an issue?... NEXT sensible BI please!

  18. If Leeroy New took credit for the pieces solely done by Kermit Tesoro from their 2010 PFW collection simply because the show was termed a collaboration, would we be so forgiving? Would Kermit even allow it?

    ReplyDelete
  19. This has happened before. Kermit Tesoro's failure to acknowledge Leeroy New as his collaborator or even as the designer of specific pieces from their PFW 2010 collection was very much evident from the single name(Kermit's) that was projected on the screen during the show! Can anybody say 'use me in a sentence!?'

  22. So porke't tinweet ni Divine Lee, ibig sabihin totoo na? Get your facts straight guys. If anyone asks Kermit exactly what he did sa paggawa nung suit, walang masasabi yang definite.

This article by abs cbn clearly points to Kermit as the designer, at parang sabit lang si Leeroy, something Kermit doesn't even bother to clarify.

Sinasabi niya lang dapat bigyan din ng credit si Leeroy New when in fact, Leeroy deserves SOLE credit.

  23. Nakakainis lang yung iba na porke nagcomment ka or expressed your opinion about this issue, talangka na agad tawag sa yo when you only want due credit to be given. Siempre si Leeroy quiet lang bec what kind of an artist toots his own horn di ba?

  24. Just because someone known says so doesn't mean its true. Katawa "Nicola Formichetti, Haus of Gaga's fashion director, credited them both. So it was a collaboration." Its soooo easy to manipulate information to give to these people.

  26. I'm a big fan of Leeroy New's work! In fact I've seen his fiberglass replica of that same top Gaga's wearing consigned at Pinto art gallery (in copper). There's another one in Artesan gallery (in metallic grey) in Singapore too I think. Funny how he's free to exhibit that same peice anywhere he pleases without feeling the need to include Kermit's name.

  27. At Anon 12:07 PM: I know right?!

  28. Is he THAT big of a jerk that he can't come out and say that it was SOLELY Leeroy's work? Ginawa kasing big deal ni Divine and pinagkalat agad na it was all Kermit... Oh sorry Kermit in collaboration with Leeroy. *rolls eyes* Pinapanindigan pa nila yung "COLLABORATION". Kainez.

  30. Leeroy speak up we want your opinion on this. Or they got the leash on you?

  31. Obviously, based from the GMA article, Leeroy New is already consulting lawyers. Let's just wait for it.

  32. We were actually talking about this one the other day. I saw Kermit's post last time at his facebook account posting a teaser photo for the video. nagulat lang ako why hes just crediting himself solely of the design. ...

and then when i checked Leeroy New's fb account. aun...post si kuya ng folder entitled "muscle dresses"

    pak.

***ala na ung photo ng teaser. ahahaha

  33. echuserang talaga si Kermit hahaha, charot!! :)

What a shame for Leeroy asking VIVA to pay him dahil ginamit yung creation nya without asking him eh pano kaya kung sya yung idemanda nug Japanese Sculpture na ginayahan nya? Kekerihin kaya nya?

As for Kermit yung collection nya rin ay gayang gaya sa isang Japanese Designer. Remember yung Drip dress ni Kermit?

  35. Well leeroy is way much better.... Kermit is known for imitating other designers particularly the heelless shoes of gareth pugh! Ano ba binago nya? From cuts to form to silhouette? Gosh! And the fake heir Divine lee is all out on supporting him, wait! Stop! If you want to be called " fashion icon" miss lee, know your dictionary! Research ka ng fashion sa mundo!
