Letter From a Reader: Masking a Scandal in the Performing Arts

Dear Fashion PULIS,

I know you have such a big following and I was hoping I could share this with all your readers. This story does not involve anyone from show business or the world of fashion but it involves some influential people in the world of the arts.

Currently, there is a scandal brewing that involves a certain artistic director of the group and  one of its solo performers. The soloist is contemplating to file a lawsuit against the director for sexual harassment. What is sad is that the person who leads the said group knows about this but she is doing everything possible to protect the director.  At present, many of the group's performers are leaving after they discovered this director's activities that involve minors.

FP, I hope you can help get the word out because the actions of this director should never be tolerated. Thank you and more power to you!

Yours truly,
Art Enthusiast

  2. so the soloist is a minor?

  3. hi! I think i have heard of this... Sad to say things like these do happen and its just sad that the person doing this could just get away with it because he is the one in a high position. Poor boy, this has happened to him. I think he should go to the media or an organization that could help him with his case. This director should be exposed....this is not right!

    ReplyDelete
  4. why is the leader covering this up? Is it because they are covering the image of the group? My gosh!!!! what is happening to the world??? The more that the image of the group will be destroyed if the leader will continue saving the ass of this director. This Director should be stopped or else a lot more minors will suffer.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Dapat ma-expose nga ito! Ang yabang ng iba dyan just because they have the power doesn't mean they have the right to take advantage their subordinates. It's just unacceptable and the way I see it the actions of the director should not be condoned by the group's so called leader. The abusers should be punished including those who tolerate and cover up the crime committed.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Thank you fp for posting this topic! It's such an eye opener that these things happen even in the arts!

    ReplyDelete
  7. Fake na ba yung hair ng abuser?

    ReplyDelete
  8. Thank you FP for exposing this scandal. If you must know the details, the victim actually wrote a letter to the owner of the dance company indicating the years of abuse by the said director but instead of taking action against him, the owner actually fired the victim to save the a** of the director. Can you believe the nerve? That's why he keeps on doing this to the scholars.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Child abuse naman to! They can report this to dswd!

    ReplyDelete
  10. I think I know the leader. si L yan...

    ReplyDelete
  11. Confirmed na! Name of owner of the dance company- L....name of artistic director and said "sexual abuser"-O...don't know the name of the victim though...l kawawa naman! Ang alam ko marami na talagang victims but takot to say anything Lang...:(

    ReplyDelete
  12. oh my gosh!!! i can't believe somebody wrote a letter to FP about this! i am actually a former member this company and from what i heard, the directors are doing everything in their power to keep this scandal under wraps. and yes, i must admit that this gay director has gotten away with sexually abusing young, helpless, innocent male scholars. by the way FP, i love reading your blog!

    ReplyDelete
  13. Owner/leader/artistic director-L. They own many businesses in the vicinity. Associate director and co-founder of the company, "culprit"-O.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Oh my god I know who you're referring to! I am a in the field and I know who are involved... Owner of the famous company is the one and only L. Her partner associate director is O. The said "abuser"...I've heard of a lot of stories about this...shame on him! Kudos to whoever wrote this and exposing the scandal...dapat makulong!

    ReplyDelete
  15. clues please...???

    ReplyDelete
  16. Research skills enhanced! Galing ng blog mo FP. Anyways, regarding the issue, I just can't believe that owner of this company, L, would tolerate the actions of O. (whose initials is similar to the field in medicine)

    ReplyDelete
  17. the first name of the director sounds like what we are eating when we're having our communion during mass?? please tell me if i am correct..

    ReplyDelete
  18. Kids, minors should be protected and nurtured. Not taken advantage of. Shame on these people.
The person who abuses these youth are no different from those who are doing nothing to prevent it - or to STOP it.
These people should be exposed, make no mistake about it, what they're doing is a CRIME.

May I suggest for everyone to stop naming (or giving clues referring to) the victim?

    ReplyDelete
  19. Gosh. Sobrang idol ko pa man din itong si L. As in kilalang-kilala. Not the Tony award winner.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Ay so sad naman to. I admire L pa naman and sayng naman si O magaling pa naman sya. Why does he have to do such horrible things. Nasisira ang name nila!

    ReplyDelete
  21. oh my gosh talaga! and i thought L is so sweet and innocent yun pala she covers up the mistakes of her partner! eh palibhasa kasi they formed the company together kaya hindi niya magawang talsikin si O! dapat si O i-expose sa media ang pinagagawa niya! what are the shows nga in abs-cbn and gma that exposes mga crimes? dapat ma-featured sya dun!

    ReplyDelete
  22. thank you Fashion Pulis! It's about time someone had the guts to expose this scandal! You'd think their company is "perfect" but apparently, the abuse of the male scholars have been going on for years! Yung iba umalis na dahil hindi nila ma-take yung abuso but the others opted to stay because it's their ticket to promotion and when you get promoted, you have higher pay. tsk tsk tsk they are known pa to pay off their scholars or whoever is involved in a scandal just to cover up the crime. Parang showbiz din ito eh, like yung palaging ma-feature sa FP na certain gay "head honcho" ng isang malaking network who sleeps with certain talents and viola, these talents are all of a sudden sikat and given really good breaks in the network!

    ReplyDelete
  23. what rhymes with jazz? yun na!

    ReplyDelete
  24. SOS! where can my friend help go and seek help to expose the directors? they can't fight the "superpowers" :( it will be a losing battle for my victim friend kasi wala naman silang pera to cover the cost of the legal fees but if this is exposed to the media, then there is a big possibility that the company will be investigated and the actions of the abusers will be exposed!

    ReplyDelete
  25. from what i heard, nakatira si director in the same building ng mga male scholars ng company. kung sinong feel niya for the night pina-aakyat niya sa room niya. unforgivable! and why is L tolerating this?!? that is a mystery! i'm sure her company will stand on it's own kung mawawala si O (director) but somehow, she doesn't realize that he will only be her downfall in the end...

    ReplyDelete
  26. Am correct wd my guess coz FP didnt approved my comment earlier. The worst Case scenario if anak na ng owner ng company ang bibiktimahin

    ReplyDelete
  27. correct i totally agree! L thinks she needs O badly in her company but he will be the reason for her downfall! I heard magre-retire pa naman sya soon. people should not remember her for this but for all the accomplishments she made.

    ReplyDelete
  28. hay naku i know this FP! grabe i thought pa naman she's very well-respected not only in our country but the world over but grabe naman sya to tolerate such actions in her company...very shameful!

    ReplyDelete
  29. @ anonymous 11:30 a.m.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Thank you so much FB for featuring this scandal. I felt so bad for the minor/minors that were being abused. People that has connections with the media or organizations that handle these cases, please try and help out!
Too much evil in this world!

    ReplyDelete
  32. I know retired na si O but last year na ni L magperform...dapat ikulong yan si O if matagal na Nya itong ginagawa sana ituloy ang demanda.

    ReplyDelete
Nagagamitan silang dalawa kaya they will not let each one down

    ReplyDelete
  34. kailangan i-feature tong scandal sa Imbestigador or Exposed! child abuse na to and violation of human rights! hindi tama dapat kulungin si O pati na rin si L dahil walang ginawa tinakpan pa...

    ReplyDelete
  35. Director O gets away with this because he has the support of L. Imagine taking advantage of minors and abusing them for many years is just pathetic and disgusting!

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  37. Sad to hear about this. I feel sorry for O's victims. They had no choice but to be used and abused. Shame on you O!! and for L for condoning his evil ways!
I just hope the victims can get the justice that they deserved, if only a lot of them will speak out and bring this to the open..

  38. This is shocking! I didn't expect this from very respectable artists. Ballet is very pure but the people involved are not.

    ReplyDelete
  39. May show daw sila mamaya!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Mga victims speak up! Report this to the police and media!

    ReplyDelete
  41. I'm pregnant I need to visit my ob gyne...

    ReplyDelete
  42. For the record, I heard of this company! A very famous company in Philippines based in the capital city of the country. It is more like a company that focuses more on classical repertoire. This is the only company in the country that trains their scholars in the so called "Russian Method"!

    ReplyDelete
I happen to be in the same field of this artform. Alam ko sa world ito, discipline ang pinaka importante and yet ang mga leaders pa ang nangunguna at walang disiplina. nakakaloka!!! Has everybody seen " Black Swan" the movie?? -- kinda the same about the director thingy pero minor lang ang victim. Hay naku! Ang alam ko meron silang upcoming show ngayon kasi magreretiro na ata yung si Leader L. Kung may plano kayong panoorin itong show nila, talagang makikita nyo si L and si O and this gay director O will be wearing his best wig i bet!

    ReplyDelete
  44. I think this company is the only one in the country that teaches and trains their scholars in the famous russian method.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I am just appalled that something like this is happening in a very well-respected company. And the people involved are truly great at what they do that's why it's so sad and disheartening. We look up to them or put them on a pedestal but apparently they are not to be admired because of their morals.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Wait lang... ilang O ba ang involved? O the dancer and O the director are one and the same? And is O into young girls or boys? I skipped this BI... its juicy pala! Tweet mo kse uli fp!L, please dont disappoint our nation!!!

    ReplyDelete
  47. Oh, so he's into boys pala.

    ReplyDelete
  48. O is a retired dancer and former partner ni L sa company

    ReplyDelete
  49. O and L formed the company together in the 90's and were dance partners then but O is retired na in dancing and concentraining in choreography and training dancers kaya lang yung mino mold niyang scholars ay ginagamit niya for the wrong reasons

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  51. This us shocking! The first time I read the letter I thought it was pertaining to a theater company yun pala hindi! I don't know O kasi yung kilala ko si L lang since she's sikat but it's very unbelievable and disturbing!

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  53. well si O takes advantage of young boys who are innocent, naive, do not have strength to put their foot down and stand up to authority and most of these scholar boys unfortunately are not well-off so napipilitan silang pumayag nalang. So sad!!!

    ReplyDelete
  54. i heard rin if hindi ka papayag sa mga "requests" ni O ay pag-iinitan ka niya sa class...either pagagalitan ka nang husto na wala namang dahilan o kaya u will never ever get good roles sa shows.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Please people, lets stop judging and gossiping and get our facts straight first.

"HE WHO HAS NOT SINNED MAY CAST THE FIRST STONE"

    ReplyDelete
  56. Hindi ito gossip and hearsay...THESE ARE FACTS! Botomline is, if GUILTY, they should suffer the consequences of their actions. Whatever angle you look at it, the "sinner" still committed something "unchristian-like" and immoral and those people who condone his actions and turn a blind eye are even worse...

    ReplyDelete
  57. lol! mukhang may defender si director ah.

    ReplyDelete
  58. oo nga noh.... sino kaya?

    ReplyDelete
  59. Please, the victim here has already been damaged enough so please don't name him anymore.

In the end no matter how well the leader hides the truth, it will eventually come out. Even if the victim could not gain justice from humans, God will be the one who will bring justice.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  61. To the person who wrote this comment:

"Please people, lets stop judging and gossiping and get our facts straight first.

"HE WHO HAS NOT SINNED MAY CAST THE FIRST STONE""

We are all indeed sinners but things like this don't come up unless there really is something true about it. If you don't believe it then go see and investigate yourself. For you to be able to get the facts straight. Before you go saying that this is merely gossip.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Excuse me but I think the purpose of this blog is to help expose the one who committed the disgusting and immoral act but not to put down the victim. If this was not even written about how would the people even know that such events are happening? The intention is to put a stop to his actions!

    ReplyDelete
Ang problema kasi Hindi napaparusahan! how can he learn his lesson kung hinahayaan lang.

    ReplyDelete
  65. si L ba yan? :) at O? (hint** hint** ) at yung dance company is B? :D

    ReplyDelete
  66. tama!! :) nakuha mo... :D

    ReplyDelete
  67. No evidence except one person's word against another. Allegations like these are very serious and needs to be dealt with legally. So the actual parties need to be doing the work and go file a case if they really feel that they were legally violated instead of hiding under "blind items" or having other people do the talking for them.

Sounds like these are bitter, disgruntled former employees who didn't get their way and now are out to discredit everybody. As they say, it takes two to tango right Henry?

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  71. yes - instead of hiding, why not come out and face this? insinuating stuff like this make this even harder for all parties involved. if you really want to help the so called "victims" instead of fleshing out their story under blind items, assist them to get all the help they can get because talking about it just extends their plight

dance companies are never a democracy anywhere in the world. if you want to be in it, you have to do exactly what is asked of you. if you are asked to smile, you have to smile - that is just it - plain and simple. perhaps you were all taken out because you were not good enough or perhaps you decided to leave because you cant live up to the standards?

i am just curious when did this happen? did it just happen recently or something that happened a long time ago? if so why is it just now being brought up? even legally it cant go anywhere because of statute of limitations - meaning you have to file your case within a certain time after the actual "crime" was committed

finally "it takes tow to tango , right henry?" is an expression and a line taken from a play... dont be too defensive as you are being too obvious even giving more credence to the fact that these are all being brought up by disgruntled employees who just didnt get what they want

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  75. I just hope that they get exposed for what they do. Not unless the dancers themselves testify there can be nothing much done. So if you really want to fix the problem then someone has to step up. Problem is the dancers need jobs so they can't really do much but shut up.

I just hope that everyone there realizes what a horrible thing that this director has done even if he's a misunderstood guy. He's nice but he fills his pain with this act. Just not right.

For now all we can do is pray. The artistic director isn't willing to do what's right anyway. Obviously she wont admit the wrong in her company because she still would like to keep it.

If someone wanted to do something about it then they should have done something by now. Don't be scared God is with you. So let's stop talking and get going.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  78. God knows and sees everything. No matter how much you hide and defend yourself God will give you the punishment that is due to you. Covering up the truth will make things worse because you would just keep on sinning. Fear God. You may not suffer the consequences now but later on in your life you will. Don't wait for God's wrath. Enough with the lies and stop hiding. Do not fill your hearts with hatred.

Whoever holds the truth will be at peace with God but whoever hides the truth and lies will not be at peace.

  79. to d 1 defending d company d leader n d director: dont u think that this story/these stories were just made up to do revenge or something, and that these are invented by the former "disgruntled" employees of d company. y dont u ask the ones stil in d company for u to know and prove it. baka magulat ka at alam din nilang lahat?

2 d 1 saying that the victim is just being used for this matter, naniniwala kb sa kasabihang "u can hit 2 birds in 1 stone"?

2 d one saying na pangalanan na lahat...not yet maybe, 'coz the fire has just started lets w8 til its already a "forest fire". mas maganda kung unti-unti pinapaalam, kahit alam na tlga ng lahat. so that others wil b prompted to think and the culprit wil b more pissed by the little droplets slowly coming out.

to the ones really helping the victim nd knows that these stories r ol true: i think wala kayong ginagawang masama because these r ol true. freedom of xpression yan!

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  89. malamang! baka sila nga sila o mga alaga nila ung mga ibang sumagot dito eh... sapul at pikon sila eh! panu guilty.

  92. My opinion to the owner. Your the employer so you should know better. Pero I was wrong. And kayo pang mga nakakataas ang nagmamayabang na you graduated from good schools and got good degrees, tapos ganito lang pinapakita nyo sa tao. Nakakahiya naman. Napaka-low nyo pala. To the director, such a shame. You're forcing everybody that you should be respected or showing people that you're a very respectable person, pero in real life you're not! 94. i extremely think what O did is horrible and disgusting. L for covering up for it is just as bad. however, i dont think this should be exposed to the media. this still have their right to privacy.

in the end, ihope justice is upheld

  95. truth is something that should never be hidden...so why hide something like this to media. if the people concerned with this wrongdoing have the right mindset ever since they will be able to think of the would-be consequences even before something like this comes out. sorry na lang cla at mat nagbunyag! magagalita cla? bakit peke ba to? bakit ayaw nyo ng katotohanan? diba mga professional daw(?) kayo?
