The Not So Generous Mom

Mother Dear MD is a constant presence in the affairs of her Dear Daughter DD, especially in the major events of DD's career. It has come to a point that whenever DD is around, it is MD who people ask for first. More than DD, it is MD who is the major decision-maker in the family.
If at all DD makes her personal decision known, it is still subject for MD's approval – especially when it concerns anything financial.
The big calamity that the country had recently had most Filipinos here and abroad, celebrities or not, donated and gave so very generously to the calamity victims. Big celebrities, for whatever reasons, whether for publicity or not, gave their utmost best to help in every way they can. To this day, huge cash donations from big stars continue to overflow.
Whether it was peer pressure or otherwise, DD reportedly made a big cash donation for the typhoon Yolanda victims. Those within her circle were very happy with DD's gesture. But MD, who is not exactly known to be generous, raised hell upon learning this. She questioned DD and her handlers pointing out that there was no need for DD to donate that much since she already donated part of the proceeds of her concert to the same cause.
Thus, MD wanted to take back the huge donation justifying and believing that DD was already over-donating. To which she was told that taking back the donation was definitely out of the question, out of line. DD handlers know only too well where they were coming from, especially after knowing that a lesser star than DD gave millions bigger than what DD gave.

'My Father Threatened to Kill Me' Says Gretchen Barretto

Gretchen made the accusation as she spoke with reporters shortly before a hearing on a case involving Claudine and husband Raymart Santiago at the Marikina Regional Trial Court on Thursday.
The older Barretto actress, along with another sibling, JJ, gave their testimonies supporting Santiago's allegations against their sister in the closed-door hearing.
"Nandito ako, may takot, pero haharapin ko 'to dahil ito ang katotohanan," said Gretchen. "At least nandito kayo. Pag may mangyari, alam ninyo."
The former couple married in church rites in March 2006. They have two children -- an adopted daughter, Sabina, 9; and a biological son, Santino, 6.
Responding to Claudine's accusations, which were detailed in an Anti-Violence against Women and Their Children (VAWC) case in August, Santiago accused his wife of domestic violence, having a history of drug abuse, and being mentally ill.
The actor's statements were supported by accounts of Gretchen, along with two other Barretto siblings, Marjorie and JJ, in the same affidavit.
According to Santiago's legal counsel, Atty. Ruth Castello, the hearing on Thursday was specifically on the consolidated cases of Claudine's petition for a temporary protection order against her husband, and their custody battle over Sabina and Santino.
Shortly after the hearing, Gretchen was asked to detail her father's alleged threat against her. The actress said the Barretto patriarch learned of her plan to appear in court from her eldest sibling, Mito.
"Sinabihan ng daddy ko ang kapatid kong lalaki, ang pinakamatanda, at ang pamangkin ko na si John, na pag mag-testify daw si JJ, at nalaman niyang mag-te-testify si JJ, sabi niya babarilin niya," she said.
"At sinabi naman ng aking pamangkin na, 'Tita Gretch, Tita Marj will testify.' At sabi niya (Miguel Barretto), 'I will kill them.'"
Gretchen, in a published statement in October, detailed Claudine's alleged mental illness and drug use, and how their family supposedly conspired to have the youngest of seven siblings hospitalized for treatment.
The siblings' feud with their parents first went public in April, when their mother, Inday, released a statement saying she has disowned Gretchen in favor of Claudine.

She is Very Rich
In showbiz, during taping or shooting, food is the most single pleasurable reward for everyone after hours of mental fatigue from memorizing their lines and back-breaking work. Stars and all those involved in the production definitely look forward to shooting breaks or meal times when they can share and partake food with co-stars and workmates. This also becomes a sort of bonding time among people involved in the production.
Lead Actor LA was so fascinated and amused at his Fabulous co-Star FS during the shooting of their movie. FS was known to have the good life some years ago when she was still with someone. Unfortunately, after they broke up years ago, her life became a real financial challenge. Making it more difficult was and still is the lack of good projects coming her way. But trust FS as someone who will not live wanting in luxury.
During the shooting of her movie with LA, FS was a generous soul, diligently bringing in catered food to the set. No big deal, one would say as it is quite normal practice for others. But what made it a conversation piece was that along with the food, FS also often brought in a high-priced delicacy - caviar cake. Something others would contend as food fit for the real elite. FS only shared this gourmet experience with LA and few co-stars.
One shooting day while they were on a break, FS again proudly brought out the pricey stuff and shared with LA and a few others. LA, was in a playful mood, and in front of their co-stars and staff turned to FS and said in jest (translated to English), " Oh, how cool is that, FS? You are very rich, you have this caviar cake all the time even if you have no projects coming in! "
The movie slated for the Metro Manila Film Festival or MMFF this December has all its casts and director beaming with pride and good wishes that their movie will rake in profits overwhelmingly come screening time. By then, will there be more caviars coming in?

Continuing Where They Left Off

With VP seemingly to be in a category of actors by himself, movie producers still have offers for him. In a movie that he did, VP had the opportunity to work with a sultry actress (SA), who is known for her share of controversies over the past years. VP and SA had to do a bed scene. As professionals, the two did their roles convincingly. Then, after the scene was over, SA apparently was not satisfied with her acting, and she wanted a bit more.
Allegedly, SA went to visit the lodgings of VP and they continued their hot scene without cameras rolling and the director screaming, “Cut!” Of course, VP is also know to be a ladies’ man, but he’s not known as the kiss and tell type. Some people in the area got wind of what was happening because SA could not keep her voice down. Those who dared to investigate what was happening, secretly saw that VP still has what it takes to satisfy a young hot woman like SA.

TV5 Workers File Notice of Strike

In a statement, the Associated Broadcasting Company Employees Union (ABCEU), a labor union of TV5, filed a notice of strike before the Department of Labor and Employment (DoLE) last Friday after its talks with its management on the non-economic provisions of its CBA bogged down, particularly on job security.
This comes after TV5 management opposed the inclusion of its initiative to rename some of its department and positions saying the scheduled CBA meeting last November 11 is not the venue for such discussion.
ABCEU, however, insisted on taking up the new policy since it claimed TV5 could use the provision to indiscriminately source out its manpower needs from third party service providers.
“They will declare the previous positions within the said departments as redundant and ask them (workers holding the position) to resign later on,” ABCEU explained.
“Our fear is that in the near futures this could eventually lead to massive contractualization,” it added.
ABCEU earlier questioned the policy through a grievance complaint, when it affected seven of their members.
The group later decided to forgo the complaint and just include it during the scheduled CBA negotiations.
“What we are asking to be included in the CBA, would for management to first consult us before changing the name or position…while they were more than willing to talk about wage hike, what good would it be if on the next day you no longer have a job,” ABCEU said.
The TV5 management contested, this saying the non-economic provision should not be a part of the initial phase of the CBA.
During the meeting, ABCEU also raised the issue of late remittance of union dues and the exclusion of the still being built office of TV5 in Mandaluyong City from the scope of the CBA.
A conciliation and mediation talks will be held by DoLE at 2 p.m. tomorrow in an attempt to resolve the ongoing labor dispute.
