The Eat Bulaga Timeline

When the rumors that a well-loved TV show was about to undergo major changes, very few thought ‘Eat Bulaga’ was the subject of such blind items. Afterall, EB has withstood time and is a few years short of celebrating its 50th year. Besides, the camaraderie among the Dabarkads, headed by Tito and Vic Sotto and Joey de Leon (TVJ), was solid.Last week, various social media sites finally revealed that indeed, EB was plagued by rumors of off and on-cam changes.
Cristy Fermin via her YouTube show dated March 2, revealed internal issues in the production, such as a well-loved top executive was about to be removed and the talents were about to face a loyalty challenge.
The following day, March 3, website bilyonaryo.com identified the factions of the said conflict. On one side was Tony Tuviera, and the other side was led by Romeo Jalosjos. Both are the pillars of Television and Production Exponents (TAPE) Inc., which is the production firm of EB. Tuviera was due to retire, while Jalosjos was allegedly behind the upheaval to take control of TAPE.
Hosts Allan K, Wally Bayola, and Jose Manalo were then rumored as the ones being groomed by the Jalosjos camp to take over TVJ. Even Willie Revillame was mentioned by the website as being wooed by the said camp to be part of the supposed new EB. By contrast, TVJ was rumored to go with Tuviera and might launch their own show ‘Dabarkads’ on another channel.
Meanwhile, TAPE Inc. already has a new chairperson, Romeo Jalosjos, Jr. To recall, TAPE signed a three-year contract in 2022 with GMA for the airing of EB.
TVJ, during the March 4 episode, sang the theme song of Eat Bulaga. The hosts then reminded the viewers of who wrote the song and who coined ‘Eat Bulaga,’ who are Vic and Joey, respectively. De Leon further invited the viewers to celebrate their 50th anniversary in six years.
For now, things seem to be quiet as neither camp has issued any formal statement to clear up the splitting rumors.
