When survival is at stake, rumors can create the difference. Sometime ago, Respected Celebrity (RC) became overconfident such that she took her sweet time in her work. Unknown to RC, Fast-rising Talent (FT) was making her way into her turf. FT was clicking with the audience and soon, RC found herself slowly being inched out of her supposed projects.

Apparently, FT was spreading rumors that RC had an attitude problem, which made working difficult. Although a tinge of truth was in the rumor, RC did not like that at all. RC felt that FT was sowing discord. Like other talents, RC faded into the background, while FT had the career advantage.

Years later, the possibility of RC and FT working together was starting to materialize. Before such could ever happen, RC warned the higher-ups that FT can ruin work relationships given her past experiences and reputation. Unfortunately for RC, circumstances were in FT’s lucky stars. The higher-ups realized that the rumors allegedly spread by FT about RC were not rumors at all.

Once again, RC became wary of finding FT within reach. RC had her own way of showing she was not keen on the idea. RC declined a request from the production, which made them clueless, but accepting of the excuse that RC was too busy. According to the grapevine, RC felt that FT had already made her presence felt by getting an assignment that was supposed to be hers.

Other than strict protocols during the lock-in taping, which is the new normal in the industry, the production staff has to be observant on the behavior of the cast. For several weeks, the production team is housed in a location. No one is allowed to go out or meet people outside of the production unless they want to undergo swabs again. The sense of isolation can push people to behave in such a way that makes other production members feel awkward.

A production was not spared from the questionable behavior of cast members. Conservative Performer (CP) had to tell the production that she was abhorred at the closeness of Network Talent (NT) to Established Celebrity (EC). CP observed that NT often approached EC between takes and sit on his lap. EC seemed to enjoy the attention. Subsequently, NT was told to minimize her touchy-feely moments with EC and observe social distancing. NT agreed.

One time, A Staff (AS) thought someone was enjoying a booking in one of the cubicles of the comfort room. AS heard sounds of ecstasy and thought he ought to wait for the occupants to tease them. AS was shocked to see NT exit the cubicle, as they were in the male restroom. NT said that the female restroom was out of order. AS was curious and hid to find out who was the other occupant. Minutes passed and AS saw EC stepping out.

Immediately, AS reported to His Superior (HS) what he thought happened. The speculations of HS were confirmed. The production worried over the effects of the behavior of NT and EC on the cast once the incident leaks. Thus, changes in the story had to be done without letting parties know why. Obviously, the one with less experience had to take the consequence silently.

During a lull, Benefactor Pal (BP) told Talented Celebrity (TC) to wait for him as they had to talk. He could not attend to TC as he had a briefing. Meanwhile, three persons approached TC and asked if they could have a photo with him. TC turned them down. Other people greeted TC, but he gave a blank look. After a few seconds, TC left the area and found a nook where he tinkered with his phone. Unknown to TC, BP saw what happened.

BP kept his cool, as the three persons were the ones who put the money together for TC’s fee. BP told TC to go home and rest. Their talk can wait. TC responded that he was still good and could wait for him. BP replied he still had much to do, and TC left. BP profusely apologized to the three individuals and said TC might just be having a bad day. Later, a staff told BP that TC seemed to be spaced out and smelled of something. BP realized his fear had materialized.

When BP met Network Insider (NI), he recounted his experience with TC. BP said he was embarrassed by TC’s behavior and warned NI on possible scenarios. NI answered that BP’s story was an eye-opener for the team to be prepared for adjustments in dealing with TC.

Common Friend (CF) introduced Man Target (MT) to Interested Party (IP) and set the unknowing couple on a date. They hit it off and that date was just one of many. CF was happy for her friends and her successful matchmaking. As time passed, IP and MT’s relationship hit snags, but IP kept the flame burning for MT. MT focused on work and respected IP’s decisions on their relationship.

Fast forward to pandemic times and CF and MT were working on a project. The staff could not help but notice the closeness of the two and CF seemed extra sweet towards MT. She prepared MT’s food as well. Allegedly, the two were seen together in a room. This behavior reached IP and she started to doubt if MT would be her forever. Love can be blind and thus, she continued to pine for MT.

During a taping break, IP invited MT for dinner. MT said he was out of town and unable to join her. IP understood as MT has always been busy and even if he is on break, he might have commitments to fulfill.

Days later, IP found out she has been made a fool. Reliable sources informed IP that MT was indeed out of town, but he was enjoying the sun with CF and her family. IP felt ghosted by MT and betrayed by CF, who had once set her up with MT.

When Hot Talent (HT) was starting out, she was just one of the faces trying to compete with the A-listers of the network. She was a nobody then when Insider Mentor (IM) noticed her potential. In the hierarchy of talents, HT was at the bottom. The projects could not seem to gain momentum. That situation did not stop IM from using her influence to continue giving HT opportunities. IM was pleased because HT was a hard worker. She followed instructions and the mentorship available to her.

Over the years, HT and IM became close. IM could not hide the fact that among the talents, HT was her favorite. She witnessed how HT developed as a talent and even transcended her low points. IM felt that a strong bond was between the two of them.

Time came when HT reached a good position to bargain as far as her career was concerned. IM promised HT projects and a fabulous contract. However, the catch was that time was needed for everything to materialize. HT remained quiet to mull things over. Then, IM felt blindsided and hurt, as HT did the unthinkable for double the offer. IM had no more choice as the bond crumbled.
