Moving Day

Soon, answers to what will happen to displaced celebrities will be clear. While rumors are loud that certain personalities are leaving, the movement has become interesting. The movement is unavoidable as contracts are in limbo.

First, Versatile Talent (VT) will soon be facing former colleagues on a daily basis. VT’s noontime show will indeed be up against formidable foes. In connection with VT, his Close Buddy (CB), whose name has already landed in publications as another possible moving talent, seeks the approval of his supposed new management for hiring his former staff. The big boss has yet to respond to this thoughtful request of CB. Where he goes, he takes his team.

Second, comedy will not be far behind. Allegedly, the comedy team is moving as well. If true, taping is set in the middle of the month on a popular island. A gag show and a sitcom will have new slots in their new network.

Third, Sundays will not be left out. Renowned Beauty (RB), Controversial Actor (CA), and Award-winner Actor (AW) will challenge the Sunday teams of the two networks. RB is under a different management team, and thus, her leaving would not generate much controversy. CA and AW have asked permission to leave and having no contracts and everything hanging in the air, they were let go without fuss. Meanwhile, that should explain why CA always passes whenever he’s asked to show up, as he’s moving, too. However, what was shocking is the head of the new program. A Pillar (AP) of the closed network will be joining RB, CA, and AW, and show to viewers why he’s a respected personality in the industry.

However, not all prime artists are following the above celebrities. Two homegrown talents refused to leave. Singer Actress 1 (SA1) is staying loyal. Singer Actress 2 (SA2) was not interested in moving. SA1 and SA2 have been involved in various recent life and love controversies.

The coming days will surely spice up free TV viewing. The competition will be set with a new home, production teams, and tested talents. Will these talents be able to bring their followers to their new shows?

Despite assurances from various stakeholders, rumors are loud that Bold Project (BP) is doomed. Various factors are cited by such rumors. First, the pandemic is a major factor that will change the cinema habits of viewers. The fear of people to watch in theaters will continue until a vaccine against the virus will be developed. The estimate is that movie-watching in the theater will only return to normal in two to three years.

Second, the budget has ballooned and more investments are needed to complete BP with the desired quality. Unfortunately, BP accumulated losses due to previous attempts to breathe life into it. In addition, circumstances have curtailed possible sources of financing. The producers cannot risk money as free TV promotions are limited and the digital platform is insufficient.

Third, a crucial, but resolved issue, among celebrities was pointed out as having affected interest in BP. Although the air has been cleared and differences have been accepted, damage has been done. As BP relies on a certain image, the brief tussle had repercussions. Sadly, fans started to cast doubt on the synch between the real Involved Celebrity (IC) and the reel character in BP. Followers of BP were unimpressed with IC.

Despite efforts to encourage BP’s production, management had made a painful decision. IC asked the management to continue, as the production team had already invested so much in BP. The management remained firm, however.

IC was disappointed, but could not do much. Then, a rumor that BP is being offered as a series made IC interested. As IC does not have any pending project, the talent allegedly asked to be released from her contract. Apparently, IC has plans to audition for the main role in case BP will indeed be sold. What the public awaits are whether BP will have a buyer and if IC will still be around.

Missing Celebrity

Sometime ago, the public noticed that Respected Personality (RP) has not been in the limelight. As someone looked up to and admired, RP was expected to give guidance or perhaps even provide leadership while the flock was scattering. RP hardly showed up and he was nowhere to be found. When the smoke was clearing and reality setting in, his camp released a statement expressing the usual sentiments over the loss. It was too late.

Unfortunately, many saw RP’s action as that of being too late. Damage has been done and things were over and done. In his defense, RP claimed he had no web-based channels to voice his opinions. Reactions ranged from doubts to RP’s not using other venues to release his real feelings. Besides, RP is known to have many media contacts and he could have easily requested space and time to air his views.

Allegedly, RP already knew that everything was over long before the climax, as he had information from Influential Insider (II). He was advised to talk to other companies that can give him work. Although RP tried to raise arguments, the case was doomed and everything was just for the sake of show and formality.

Worse, RP did not inform people who should know about his conversation with II. He contacted target companies who might have opportunities for his services. The reception was cool and the inaction was interpreted as lack of interest in him. Later, his own company did not give him attention, as other matters were prioritized. RP did not expect that reaction. RP thought he would still have his clout, but expectation turned to disappointment.

While the top-tier talents of networks can relax during the pandemic even without projects, talents who were caught between jobs are the ones who are mostly feeling the financial effects. Many young celebrities, who are in the midst of building homes and paying off mortgages, have found themselves scrambling for opportunities to earn. After all, they have to meet household expenses and their savings might not last long enough until the next series or movie offer.

Realizing that her pockets are not that deep anymore, Young Talent (YT) called her management and asked for work. YT said she was willing to be locked down for taping if needed. However, most supporting cast members were not amenable to the idea of staying together during filming and will only work if a vaccine is available.

All was not lost. YT’s management informed her of a possible project with Hot Actor (HA) and their partnership was projected to be controversial. Controversies attract viewers and YT with HA would be talked about in social media. YT had no choice but to consider the project.

Meanwhile, HA has managed to keep his career afloat and his endorsements are consistent in supporting him. As he has a contract with management, HA has to abide by the decisions of his bosses. Ergo, he must follow and if that means being with YT, he has to obey.

Management spoke to YT and HA to drum up the promo. The more controversy they generate, the more interest would be generated. Fans would become eager to watch their team-up. In addition, handlers concocted their own gimmick and to renew interest in YT and HA. YT needs the extra attention, as she has not been seen as much as before the lockdown started. HA did not mind the idea, as work is just work for him, even if it means riding on management’s instructions. Regardless of any relationship angle, the two were stern with their “no comments,” as they know they cannot go beyond friendship.

Quiet Revenge

Like public service, being part of the entertainment and media industry is a commitment to fans and followers. Celebrities feel they owe the public their services. Without support, celebrities would not have gained their reputation, fame, and finances. While rivalry seems to be glaring to the public, the opposite is true behind the scenes. Unless a public fight or painful debate ensued, most celebrities are bonded with each other at the personal level.

When Businessman Personality (BP) realized he was about to lose his first love, he alerted his friends. Although BP could retire from the limelight, his commitment to his craft is deep and he cannot just leave his followers behind. Familiar Friend (FF) responded to BP’s request, which was not surprising, as they began their careers at the same time, but went on separate ways. FF assured BP that he’ll work for his case with the bosses.

Time was running out and BP received and accepted the disappointing news. BP had to move on. What BP did not know was that A Kin (AK) asked around why negotiations failed. AK had an insider bestie, who revealed the shocker – FF blocked BP’s application, instead of fulfilling his promise. AK felt betrayed as BP and FF were like brothers. AK was so infuriated that revenge reverberated.

AK knew where to hit FF and set the plot in motion. With reputation at stake, the higher ups allegedly called up FF to fix the mess. Meanwhile, BP was clueless as to what AK allegedly did and FF remained chill, as he was left in the dark why such happened.

Complicated Decisions

When a rumor of a celebrity sighting in a rival network emerges, the fandom and other interested parties are thrown in a frenzy over the possibility of moving. Social media subsequently becomes the field for comments and bashing about loyalty. Given the situation in the local entertainment industry, such activities are no longer remote. However, when Wanted Performer (WP) was rumored to have been spotted in the premises of A Network (AN), executives quickly denied, but said that WP will always be welcome.

Allegedly, such rumor was merely to gain attention if AN could be open to the possibility of WP joining their team. These days, establishments are wary of people going and out of their premises, which makes visits limited. Thus, WP being seen in AN is not highly possible, but online presence is.

What WP does not know is that the Management Team (MT) had a virtual meeting with AN. MT is exploring the idea of WP joining AN and what AN can offer WP. As soon as the new normal is established, AN will present plans for WP. Among possible talents, WP is indeed wanted.

However, transferring is not as easy as affixing a signature. WP still has a contract for shows. WP’s team is working on a drastically reduced fee for her services, which was the result of negotiations months ago. Nonetheless, business is business and WP cannot remain at such rate. A low talent fee means low commission as well. Still, negotiations are bound to be complicated even if MT can facilitate WP to move.

WP’s word of honor can prevent her from moving. Working with WP was the reason a Prolific Talent (PT) stated when an unexpected transfer happened. Hence, WP can hurt many personalities, such as PT, if MT says she has to go. For WP, MT has been with her since she started, while her workmates, along with PT, surrounds her with strong kinship.
