Just Follow the Rules

One of the in-things now is the wearing of face masks not just for health reasons but to hide identities as well. Thus, if one can recognize the eyes, then a celebrity hiding behind the mask becomes futile unless such person is not known by the public, which is what happened to Hot Talent (HT).
When HT went to a bank to encash a cheque, he put on a face mask after the guard conducted the usual security check. Apparently, HT hid his face to avoid people wanting to get a selfie with him. The bank already knows his attitude of feeling like a famous celebrity even if he could still be considered as a budding talent.
As soon as he was called by the assigned teller, who was new in the bank, HT was requested to remove his face mask as per protocol and to present an ID. HT removed his face mask. Subsequently, HT asked the teller if she did not recognize him. He continued to rub it in by saying that he was an actor of a big network, a lead in an ongoing series, and the boyfriend of a Female Celebrity (FC). The teller was unmoving and asked for an ID, which she explained was bank protocol.
The bank manager could not be disturbed, as she was talking with other clients. Thus, HT could not do anything to change the mind of the teller. Again, the teller said that an ID was needed. HT said his ID was in the car, but the teller was firm. HT had to call FC, who was waiting in the car to bring his ID. Meanwhile, the line was getting longer and people waiting for their turn were already mumbling.
When FC approached the counter with the ID, HT told the teller that perhaps she already recognized her. The teller said that she does not look familiar and that it did not matter. What she needed was his ID. Obviously embarrassed, FC was irritated and said that he would return to the bank to withdraw all his money and move to another bank that would be more accommodating. As HT was leaving, some clients in line booed him for showing arrogance and delaying the process.

While honesty is a major issue of celebrities in the local entertainment industry, insiders know that revealing and admitting personal details can make or break a celebrity’s career. The local audience, fans, especially, have certain expectations on the image of celebrities. Thus, many celebrities project an image that they think would keep their fans loyal and that image oftentimes is not a hundred percent real.
When Versatile Actress (VA) started stripping off several of her image layers and coming clean with details of her personal life, her handlers seemed to cringe at the way VA opened up herself. Others thought it was a good idea for VA to be truthful, as it would stop all speculations. By contrast, others predicted the doom it would bring to her career.
As predicted, VA’s projects seemed to have lost luster. Worse, expectations for film projects were unmet. The verdict on the poor performance was that VA’s revelations did not translate into popularity; being honest backfired. However, the management has not given up on VA. For example, VA and Her Partner (HP) would have to be repackaged to regain public interest.
Given that plans were being made to give VA a positive spin, one factor that seemed to have been overlooked is the negative perception of VA. With the way she responds in her interviews, viewers could sometimes feel her aloofness. Moreover, the way she handled a family crisis was not the way that fans expected her to do.
For now, her reel projects are on hold, even HP would have to be scarce in appearing in movies, as the management can no longer afford another flop from either of them.

One of these four actresses (whose faces were superimposed on the costumed body of Marian Rivera who has played the legendary Pinoy super-heroine) could be the replacement for Liza Soberano who gave up the role due to a finger injured during a shoot for the Kapamilya action series Bagani.
Asked who his choice is as Liza’s replacement, director Erik Matti (photo, who also quit the project, replaced by Jerrold Tarog), told Funfare:
“I really feel that Liza would have been a fresh and exciting Darna. She’s young and embodies a lot of potential to create a modern take for this classic superhero character.
“After her, I only see Nadine Lustre so far as someone who can be Darna. Very sultry. She has a lot of female sensuality and at the same time still looks tough and very Filipina. The key to casting Darna has always been someone who can look plain and ordinary in her Narda alter ego but can be tough, spunky and can be very sexy as well when she transforms to Darna. Nadine can look all of that.”

Making Amends

When Friendly Contemporary (FC) and Impulsive Personality (IP) were starting out in their respective careers, they developed a friendship that seemed to lay down the foundation for a true, sincere one. After all, they were both newbies with no connection. All they had was the luck of being chosen as well as the talent and looks, which the management saw as potential traits that could make FC and IP bankable stars in the future.
Somewhere along the way, as FC and IP were showing their worth, each took a different path and garnered followers as well. Unfortunately, the two were seen as rivals instead of colleagues even if they were good at different things. Fans pitted the two against each other in social media. Soon, some fans got wind of the rumor that FC and IP were not as close as before.
When IP had to rethink her career goal later, FC confided that she had a hunch that would happen to IP. Allegedly, IP started with the boys early, even before university and the time the network hired her. FC knows about IP’s behavior at an early age, long before they entered the business. FC knows that IP is no saint and as for male friends, IP started very young. Moreover, FC said she was relieved that she and IP were no longer that close, otherwise, she might even be dragged in her friend’s mess.
Time can always change things and eventually, maturity will catch up with the two and things will be sincerely ironed out. IP needs real friends, and perhaps, FC can prove she is indeed one.
