Must Act Like a Diva
Passengers of a local flight were minding their own business, when they chanced upon a Celebrity Passenger (CP) on board. CP was highly recognizable, but the passengers behaved and did not mind her presence. Most assumed that she was probably on her way to a gig at their provincial destination.
Over the past months, CP has been very busy with her commitments in the industry. She had gigs left and right and appearances in a major network. Because CP clicked with the modern-day audience, opportunities were given to her. CP took advantage, as careers in showbiz are usually only as good as the last successful project. So far, CP had been inching her way to fame and fortune.
Unfortunately, CP’s character seems to have been affected by her so-called achievements. Complaints about her being difficult are whispered behind the scenes, and the grapevine is full of stories of dissatisfaction on her performance and her attitude. Despite all the horror stories, she is still a favorite.
When the flight arrived at the destination, passengers were surprised at the action of CP. She covered her face with a cap and jacket. The weather was not exactly fit for her outfit. Thus, instead of evading attention, people looked at her direction and did their own thing, not wondering who would wear such in warm weather. The funny thing was the airport did not have so many persons around and no one really cared about CP’s presence. For the few that saw her, they wondered why she had to disguise herself. More famous celebrities do not even bother to hide their faces with caps and jackets. Although CP might be appreciated now, her stint is too short for her to act like a diva.
‘But a true diva has dismissed that drama. A true diva's heart is open, and she's ready to play by her own rules - rules that are gentle and kind.’ – Jenifer Lewis

Repost: Senate Calls for Networks to Conduct Surprise Drug Test on Talents

Senators support the call for television networks to conduct drug testing among its artists and employees.
Senate President Vicente Sotto III on Friday said networks could take it upon themselves to police their own ranks.
A former actor and noon-time show host, Sotto said television networks, anyway, are aware who among their talents have links to the illegal drug trade.
“The networks can easily do that (drug testing) if they want to, because as a matter of fact, they know who among their talents are into drugs,” Sotto told reporters in a text message.
“The irony is that the bosses of these persons know who they (those involved) are and are not doing anything about it,” he added.
Sotto also expressed support for the proposed release of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency’s (PDA) celebrity narco-list but said that the inclusion of actors and other personalities should be validated.
He added that the term “celebrities” should not be limited to members of show business, but “also basketball players and other public figures.”
Sen. Panfilo Lacson, on the other hand, maintained his position against any release of names in the narco-list.
“Sa akin in the first place ‘di dapat gawin public unless nag-file ka na ng case. Kasi pag file ka na ng case, matter of public record so necessarily lalabas ang mga pangalan (To me, in the first place, it should not be made public unless you already have filed a case. Because if you did file a case, it would [be] a matter of public record and necessarily, names would come out),” Lacson told reporters in a press briefing.
He said the list remains an “intelligence information” and could be proven wrong unless it is backed by evidence. It would be unfair, he said, to make public the names only to be retracted later on.
“The best yardstick on whether or not the information on the involvement of any local government officials or actors, actresses, media in illegal drugs is validated, is evidence because these are factual,” he said in English and Filipino.
Sen. Sonny Angara also believed that television networks could help in the government’s efforts against illegal drugs “by conducting [drug] tests as well”.
For his part, Sen. Joel Villanueva said he is certain that television networks, like other employers, support the drive against drug abuse in the country.
“Employers usually subject their applicants to pre-employment medical tests which includes drug testing,” the chairman of the Senate labor committee said.
He, however, reminded that the objective of the drug test “still should be to rehabilitate individuals testing positive, and not just to shame them and deprive them of employment.”
PDEA Director General Aaron Aquino earlier said 31 celebrities aged 20s to 30s were included in the agency’s drugs watch list for supposedly using shabu, ecstasy, marijuana and even cocaine.
But since the PDEA list is different from those of other law enforcement agencies, Aquino said the figure may reach 100.

Driven by Insecurity
Competition is always unavoidable even if management is doing its best to cater to the career of their talents. Whoever connects with fans from all walks of life and consistently brings interest might be the talent who could become a big star. The network then takes a big risk in investing in the newbie whom insiders think they can hone into a bankable talent.
While some new entrants would rather wait for their break, others are impatient to the point that they will exert effort to draw interest in their presence and hope that the management will pick him/her over others. Thus, is the case for Highly Motivated talent (HM), who seems to be affected by the edge of Fellow Celebrity (FC).
Compared to each other, HM has more advantages than FC in terms of their background. At a young age, HM already knew what she wanted to pursue and had a family who supported her drive. By contrast, FC dreamt what every young person would want, such as fame and fortune. It could have been timing that FC managed to have a career.
Although they might seem to cater to the same audience, FC and HM are pursuing different roads toward fame. However, FC has expanded her distance from HM, given her various projects. She apparently has more appeal than HM, which is something unthinkable for her.
When HM found out that she would no longer be part of a project, she immediately sought help from Pretty Talent (PT) to broach for her inclusion and cited reasons that a lead actor might need a reel partner. PT said she can only do so much. Then, they got to talk about FC, which made PT uneasy. They found out that FC would be doing a bit of judging for one of her projects. The idea of her being a judge did not sit well with HM, who then allegedly told PT that she does not have the experience nor any award that could make her a credible judge.
PT could not understand why HM seems to be quite picky when it comes to FC and made her think that HM seems insecure when it come to FC and her thriving career. Rather than continue to be exposed to the toxicity of HM toward FC, PT opted to stay clear of the talent and focus on her own agenda to deepen her career with the network.
‘I think we are all insecure, and there is nothing wrong in accepting that. But the problem arises when we try to counter this insecurity by cultivating this illusion of control, and we start taking ourselves and everything we know too seriously.’ – Sushant Singh Rajput
