Repost: Miss Universe Catriona Gray is Now Single

Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray confirmed that she has chosen to prioritize her crown over her heart.
“I’m Miss Universe now,” Gray smilingly said on Friday during her visit to the PLDT office in Makati City.
With that cryptic line, it seems that she gave up her love life and called it quits with her boyfriend of six years, model Clint Bondad.
Gray wanted to focus on her Miss Universe duties, so her relationship with Bondad naturally took a backseat as she devotes her time on this once-in-a-lifetime journey.
Hours later, during her visit to the ABS-CBN headquarters, Gray set the record straight once and for all, saying she is currently single.
The beauty queen was asked during the Kapamilya Confessions online segment about how she manages to balance her love life and career as a Miss Universe titleholder.
She replied, as quoted by the entertainment website Push: “Well, it’s about balance, whatever works for your personal life. But for me, wala akong love life ngayon.”
On Sunday, the 25-year-old Filipino-Australian beauty queen will headline a thanksgiving show at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Past Miss Universe queens Gloria Diaz, Margie Moran, and Pia Wurtzbach will likewise grace the show.

Repost: Makati Prosecutor Dismisses Qualified Theft Complaint vs Nicko Falcis
Source: www.rappler.com
The Makati City Prosecutor's Office has dismissed the qualified theft case filed by Kris Aquino against Nicko Falcis, her former project manager and the former managing director of her company, Kris Cojuangco Aquino Productions (KCAP).
The Makati city prosecutor approved the resolution of Assistant City Prosecutor Paolo Barcelona recommending the dismissal of the case for lack of probable cause.
In October 2018, Aquino alleged that Falcis charged over P1 million to a BDO corporate card under KCAP for personal expenses without her consent. She filed theft complaints against him in 7 cities, including Makati.
In a resolution dated February 18, the Makati Prosecutor’s Office said that in reference to the qualified theft case filed in the city, it "found no probable cause to charge Falcis" with the crime.
This is in relation to the quaified theft case filed by Aquino over 13 transactions amounting to P404,794.34 using the KCAP card in Makati.
"After careful examination of the records of the case, this Office is inclined to dismiss the complaints as there is no sufficient evidence to engender a well-founded belief that Falcis committed the crimes charged," the resolution said.
It noted that “no evidence was presented with regard to any agreement between Aquino and Falcis as regards the use of the subject credit card" which is under Falcis' name.
With his name on the card, Falcis as the cardholder can use it according to the terms imposed by the card issuer, BDO, and using it for personal expenses does not make him liable for theft, the resolution said.
"As cardholder, Falcis is personally liable to BDO for any and all amounts charged to the card. It is for this reason that Falcis’ name appears in the credit cards statement of account. Thus, should Falcis now pay his credit card bill, BDO can directly initiate legal actions against him to compel him to pay," the resolution said.
It added: "Given the foregoing, Falcis’ use of the KCAP card for his personal expenditures would not make him liable for theft. He is only liable to BDO for the card transactions that he had made using the card."
The resolution also noted that "the fact that Aquino paid Falcis’ credit card bill is of no moment."
"This will only make that latter civilly liable to the former as she is entitled to reimbursement for the amount that she has paid," it said.
The legal battle between Aquino and Falcis has escalated to involve other parties, Falcis’ brother, Jesus, who she filed a cyber libel case against in November 2018. – Rappler.com

A Challenge to Face
With competition becoming tougher, talents of a network can no longer stay complacent and confident they cannot be replaced. No one is indispensable, as almost every month, new talents are making their way into the station’s fold. Hence, the older talents who have lost patience or realized they have no guarantee for future projects, are moving out as well. Nonetheless, others have remained loyal and have no plans of changing management.
The pressure to prove one’s capabilities even after years of establishing one’s career can take its toll on any seasoned performer. Beleaguered Performer (BP) is in the midst of proving what she can do, as her network is now overflowing with talented performers and some are showing new styles that could push BP out of the picture. However, BP is homegrown and has proven that she can deliver when needed. Now, BP is facing another dilemma.
Being shown on screen adds ten pounds to one’s weight. Thus, even if a person is slim in person, he/she will look heavier while on television or big screen. Today’s TV screens are so clear that anyone appearing on a televised show will no longer be able to hide the slightest blemish. What more if extra pounds were added?
If fans of BP are missing her performances, rumors have it that BP received the feared ‘Fat Memo,’ or the reminder from the higher-ups that a talent needs to shed a few pounds to look good on TV. Such memo is not rare, as several celebrities from various stations have admitted to receiving the gentle reminder. As they wanted to continue their career, they hit the gym.
In the case of BP, her alleged weight gain has led to her non-appearance in the shows of her network. She already has few exposures and until she gains the desired form, she cannot be seen on air, as per the alleged memo. Her absences might subsequently give way to showcasing the younger and more talented singers. Moreover, not being seen can lead to speculations of pregnancy or other possible concerns bashers can think of.
‘Weight loss can change your whole character. That always amazed me: Shedding pounds does change your personality. It changes your philosophy of life because you recognize that you are capable of using your mind to change your body.’ – Jean Nidetch

Misplaced Behavior
Sometime ago, Celebrity Socialite (CS) and her friends went to a fine dining exclusive restaurant. CS had not reservation but was confident that given her reputation and name, she would be given the best table. Confidently, CS and her group made their way to the said restaurant.
When CS asked the receptionist for a table for her party of more than ten, the woman said that the room she wanted was booked and she could not be accommodated. Besides, the room that CS wanted was already reserved For Someone (FS). However, the receptionist did not disclose the identity of FS. The response of the receptionist was unacceptable and CS insisted she should be given the room.
CS further learned that the people who had reserved the room were not yet around and thus, she said that FS and her party should just be moved to another function. The receptionist said that such request cannot be granted, as FS would get angry. The receptionist said that a table that could accommodate her party was available after 30 minutes.
When CS heard that response from the receptionist, she started to name drop. CS asked the receptionist is she is not aware who was in front of her. In her stature, she cannot afford to wait for 30 minutes and she would not dine in the common dining area. Consequently, CS called for the manager.
CS told the manager that she wants the function room that FS had already reserved. She started to namedrop and this time, CS stressed that she was close to the owners of not just the restaurant but the entire building where the restaurant was. The manager allowed CS to complete her speech and started to look at the reservation list. Finally, the manager said the name of FS as the one who reserved the room. Upon hearing the name, the mood of CS changed and told her friends that they should leave immediately.
Unfortunately, FS and her entourage, including a public personality, were about to enter the door. CS and FS saw each other. FS looked at CS from head to foot, as the latter was moving quickly to avoid more awkward scenes. Then, FS turned to the manager and said that her secretary was not informed that the restaurant was a dumpsite. Obviously, the statement was said within the hearing distance of CS, who then dragged her friends quicker out of the establishment.

Repost: Malacañang Reacts to Response of Miss Universe Catriona Gray on Lowering Age of Criminal Responsibility
Video courtesy of YouTube: GMA News
Source: www.news.mb.com.ph
Malacañang said that Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray may have been misinformed about the bill which seeks to lower the minimum age of criminal responsibility from 15 years old to 12.
“I would rather that the efforts be refocused to why those children may be committing those crimes. Because working with kids, you know that when they’re that young–when they’re 11, 12, or nine years old–they’re not developed in that way, cognitively, to make decisions knowing full well the consequences,” Gray said in an interview with GMA News.
“So I would rather address the focus to what can we do to get the children out of those circumstance that they may be pressured in that way to do something,” she added.
In his Thursday press briefing, Panelo said Gray should be educated about the bill, but said they agree with her that the problems of the troubled children should be addressed.
“She should be educated. She may have been misinformed of the facts given that the opposition to the lowering comes from yung mga dating kritiko ng administrasyon (old critics of the administration),” he said.
“Yung sinasabi niya na focus on the problems, kasama yun eh (She’s saying that we should focus on the problems. That’s part of it). When you lower the criminal liability, kasama yun (that’s already part of it),” he added.
Panelo then explained to Gray that children in conflict with the law will not be put in jail with hardened criminals, but rather rehabilitated before being sent back to society.
“Sa batas nakalagay doon yung rehabilitation. Ang focus nga rehabilitation, eh (Rehabilitation is what is stated in the law. So the focus is rehabilitation). So you are solving precisely the problem why these people are engaged in crimes,” he said.
“Miss Universe hindi naman ikukulong. Ire-rehabilitate nga natin. Kaya tama ka doon (Miss Universe, they will not be jailed. We will rehabilitate them. So you are right when you said that), let’s focus on the problem. We are precisely focusing on the problem. Because the problem is they’re engaged in crimes,” he added.
“So what will we do? We will have to rehabilitate them. Learn why they have committed these crimes, and then put them back to society,” he continued.
The Palace official, however, commended Gray for voicing out her opinion on the matter, saying she just proved that she has genuine concern for children.
“But I’m glad she mentions it. It only means that she’s also concerned, which every Filipino citizen should have–a kind of concern,” Panelo said.
Gray is known to have worked with children and for advancing their welfare even before she joined the Miss Universe pageant.
Earlier, President Duterte said he is comfortable with the proposal of the House of Representatives to lower the minimum age of criminal liability from 15 years old to 12.
Currently, the Juvenile Justice or Welfare Act exempts children 15 years old and below from criminal liability. However, President Duterte has been repeatedly expressing that this measure is being abused by criminals who use minors to get away with their crimes.
