A deportation case is being pushed against television and movie actor Tony Labrusca before the Bureau of Immigration (BI).
“The (Intelligence Division) recommended to Legal (Division) the filing of deportation case against Labrusca for working without permit I think,” BI Deputy Commissioner Tomas Javier said in an interview Wednesday.
Javier said there is no charge sheet yet against the actor, noting that the recommendation for his deportation is being reviewed by the BI's Legal Division.
The BI official admitted that he received information that the actor, who holds an American passport, has filed a petition for recognition as a Filipino citizen.
“I was informed that Tony Labrusca also filed a petition for recognition as a Filipino citizen, considering that both his parents are Filipinos,” Javier added.
Once Labrusca's petition has been granted, the deportation case would be moot and academic.
Javier said the process of the petition for recognition involves a hearing with the BI Board of Special Inquiry (BSI).
“We would process it, may hearing pa ‘yan (there will be a hearing) with our BSI, then it (BSI) would recommend to the Department of Justice for confirmation if they find sufficient basis for the granting of recognition,” he noted.
Among the requirements for the petition to be granted, the BI official said, is that one or both parents of the petitioner are Filipinos.
“In the case of Labrusca, his father I think all the way, Filipino. His mother, I have no idea, baka nag convert to (maybe she has already converted her citizenship to) American, pero ‘yung (but the) father ay (is a) Filipino,” Javier said.
Labrusca is the son of local actor Boom Labrusca and model Angel Jones.
The actor drew flak for allegedly disrespecting an immigration officer at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) after he was only given a 30-day stay in the country. (PNA)

Being Unbelievable

As always, social media posts are a great way to create an image that would gain positivity for a celebrity as well as endorsements. Thus, followers and even the non-followers form an image of a celebrity based on the uploads, comments, and reactions of a celebrity. Often, celebrities succeed in the image they want in the minds of the public based on their social media posts. Until ordinary people see such celebrities raw and without camera in front of them do they realize that most of the posts are basically PR stunts.
When Talented Celebrity (TC) broke into the entertainment industry, she was banking on a familiar sounding name and living with pressure to do justice to that name. Over the years, TC managed to live up to that name on her own versatility. TC can act, perform, and even dabble behind the scenes every so often. Moreover, TC has grown beyond the loveteam image and thus, can do mature roles with any male actors.
Patience and hard work led to TC’s success. Acting awards, recognition for her other talents, and occasional controversies molded TC into an image that is admired by fans and the public. However, witnesses to an incident changed their minds when they saw how alcohol seemed to have changed the behaviour of TC.
In a club, TC was observed having a drink too many, as she was in a celebration of a friend’s birthday. Things were fine, until TC started screaming at the DJ. At one point, she managed to get the mike and stopped the music. The sudden stoppage of the music infuriated the customers who were at the place for the music, dance, and relaxation away from the metropolis. They were definitely not there to see TC. She threatened to hold the music until everyone sang a birthday song for her friend. What could the crowd do, but give in. However, whatever positive notion they had of TC was ruined that night. She might have thought she was cute, but her behaviour was rude as far as the customers of the club were concerned. Alcohol should never be an excuse, as TC should learn that many of her colleagues have already gone through highly embarrassing moments due to drinking too much.

Brian Velasco, drummer of a rock band Razorback, fell from the balcony of a condominium in Malate, Manila causing his death on Wednesday morning.
Velasco even took time to say goodbye to his friends in a group chat page. The incident was captured on his phone’s Facebook Live app at around 9:45 a.m. on January 16.
His last words were: “Pakialagaan niyo na lang si Pochito. Here we go.”
Velasco allegedly died after falling from the 34th floor of a condominium along Vito Cruz Street in Malate, Manila at around 9:45 a.m. on Jan. 16, Manila Police District (MPD) case investigator said.
He landed on a canopy but no other persons were hurt, the investigator told the Manila Bulletin.
One of his neighbors in the said condominium also witnessed the incident.
The video has since been taken down.
According to MPD, the family has requested privacy in this trying time.
Velasco, a former drum instructor at RJ Guitar Center, joined Razorback as replacement for Miguel Ortigas.
After vocalist Kevin Roy parted ways with the band, Velasco’s bandmates were Tirso Ripoll, Manuel Legarda, and Louie Talan.

Being in Love

The rumor mill is abuzz as a low-profile Production Head (PH) might have found his True Love (TL). PH is well known in a network given his involvement in flagship projects of the station and connections with powerful personalities. Although PH has built his name and reputation, loyalty-wise, he remains loyal to the network.
The open secret is that even though he is still known to be married, PH and His Wife (HW) have moved on to other romantic pursuits. HW has often been subjected to rumors linking her to talents, but no one has really admitted to such relationships. Hence, PH has moved on to his relationships as well and the latest is TL.
TL has not fully entered showbiz, but she has been exploring the reach of social media, which is a common pursuit nowadays. The speculation that TL and PH are together is that they have been seen a bit sweet toward each other and PH has even taken TL to an overseas trip along with the team he handles. TL is part of photos but behaves like part of the staff. That is, she does not flaunt her alleged relationship with PH.
While love knows no boundaries, what has been raising eyebrows in the alleged relationship of the couple is that TL seems to be quite young for PH. Not a minor, but the age difference can be obvious. However, if the two are indeed in love, then age, interests, and other factors should not be a hindrance to their relationship. Of course, PH has been seen with other women early on and TL, as the latest one, should be aware that PH also has that reputation.
