While waiting to be called onstage, Tactless Singer (TS), Seasoned Performer (SP), and New Recruit (NR) were watching Older Singer (OS) and Versatile Performer (VP) in their number. OS and VP collaborated on a duet that was intended to be among the highlights of the show. Such number was awaited by the audience as OS and VP hardly performed together in the past.
Out of the blue, TS blurted out that OS seems to be off-key. Then, after a pause, TS said that VP seems to be out of tune. NR and SP were shocked at the straightforward comments of TS in front of them. Her voice was loud enough to be heard by other people in the room as well.
SP replied that OS was not off-key, as she was into vocal styling. NR kept quiet and did not bother to share her thoughts at all. To wrap up, TS said that the audio of the monitor might be malfunctioning, which caused her to hear differently. So, after OS and VP, the three of them went onstage and performed their number.
After their performance, SP told NR to advice TS to hold her tongue and not blurt out comments on respected and older performers. Other people might hear and the tactlessness of TS might lead to further intrigue. Besides, TS is new and still has not much to show in her career. She might be good, but her attitude toward elders and disrespect to those ahead of her in the network might stop her from shining.
NR then revealed to SP that TS has a fondness for saying loose statements and side comments on the performances of her fellow singers. In fact, many of their colleagues would rather not perform with TS, as she has a star complex. TS wants to have the highlight of the numbers and will show-off her singing regardless of who she performs with. Thus, instead of having a balanced number, TS will exert effort to make her co-performers a poor second to her act.
