Engage in Reflection

One of the negative sides of being a celebrity is the unending pressure to balance one’s personal interests and career demands. When celebrities have already achieved sound time management and even a nurturing family, other factors would continue to add pressure.
On the career side, the public would always compare celebrities. Sometimes, celebrities would merely tolerate such comparisons, but when the rivalry among fandoms escalates, even if celebrities will not admit it, they too get affected. On the personal side, once a celebrity is found out to be on a relationship, netizens will keep badgering when the couple will get married and once a couple is married, hundreds of queries will be posted on when they will have a child. As celebrities are humans, they could sometimes allow themselves to be affected.
When Talented Personality (TP) said she wanted to go on vacation, her fans knew she really needed to go on a much-needed break. She has been working non-stop given her local and international commitments. Then, there’s the pressure for her to live up to her image, which she actually is doing. One day, she made an announcement that made everyone smile and wish for the best for her family.
The excitement was too much to contain and TP let the public peek into her personal choices. She started to prepare for things she would need. Naturally, some netizens were relentless in giving her advice and even would go as far as giving a lecture on her outfits. To such comments, TP responded calmly and assured them that she has everything under control.
After a few days, TP posted a painful message, which gained her sympathy and understanding. Even if no words could console TP, her family, friends, and fans gave her moral support as she was about to go through a difficult time. In a snap, TP went off the social media radar. Such was a sign that TP was hit hard by the recent personal crisis. She withdrew from her commitments as well as getting into social media. The vacation became a reality, and this time, her partner put his foot down and apparently reminded her to take it easy, as family is more important than an image or a career. After all, TP has everything and does not need to prove anything anymore. The personal event positioned her in a period of reflection, and everyone knew that she has much time until she gets back to her old self, that is, if ever she decides to be in the limelight soon.

Reassessing a Career

When a network decided to gamble on a non-tested but Appealing Personality (AP), the management was unsure if AP could deliver. After all, he was unknown and giving him an opportunity that has eluded most of the talents was bound to create controversy. The project was a hit and the network saw the potential of AP, but he was still a newbie. Nonetheless, the audience wanted to see more of AP, and the network gave in by casting him as lead in a low risk project (LRP).
LRP had a typical plot. The cast comprised a set of new talents, whom the network was building up as next important stars, and seasoned talents who often played supporting roles effectively. The fresh face of AP was a factor that made the audience curious. In a few weeks, the network finally coveted the top place in a timeslot that has eluded their shows for years.
Once again, AP proved he could make a career out of looking good. With his success, he ventured in various business interests and the public patronized his endorsements. As all good things must come to an end, LRP wrapped up its last episode with all major performers getting noticed and assurance of a wider fanbase. Handling success in a field where he is considered new, was quite difficult for AP. While he seemed charming in front of the camera, some fans were saddened at his lack of interaction during mall shows. His contemporaries would be game to have selfies with fans, but AP was aloof. While things were supposed to go up, his next project, which people predicted would be another hit, was cancelled. In a snap, AP was left out in the cold. Business slowed down as well, as he was not as visible as before.
After sometime, AP finally landed a project with Cute Actor, but the expectation was not met. The project hardly made an impact. Months passed and the management remembered AP. He was given an important role in a project. Unlike LRP, this new project struggled with ratings to the point that sometimes, the rival show would have a higher rating every so often.
As soon as things settled, AP realized that if he wanted to continue his career, he has to reconnect with his followers and be humble. He has to use social to expand his reach. High visibility in technology can endear him with the audience. The question is if it’s not too late yet to establish better ties with his fans. One moment, you’re the toast of your network, then the next, you’re struggling and not knowing if you will get a next project. Such is the fickle-mindedness of showbiz.
