Must Seek Excitement

Young Female Talent (YT) must be bored with her career and personal life. As partner to Shy Boy (SB), YT has realized that his personality is too dull for her. However, the management has paired them and she would just have to work with that reality until the time when she can truly move on her own.

The loveteam of YT and SB started when viewers noticed their chemistry and soon, the clamor was for the two to be together. SB seemed to be the contrast to the image of YT, whose personal life and former relationships were dragged to generate interest in her. Pairing the two did work and the projects as well as endorsements followed.

However, YT felt something was amiss. Despite being likeable, SB had a different attitude toward her when the cameras were off and the fans were away. It seems that SB was not really into her. He was not sweet to her after their work, which was different compared to when they are in front of their fans. Although they would go on dates, their conversations were about their careers, projects, and work-related topics. YT was no longer impressed.

One time, YT’s attention was caught by Upcoming Celebrity (UC). Unlike SB, UC was straightforward and interesting for YT. Thus, she entertained UC and developed feelings for him. They started being together. Thus, a relationship was developing, but this connection was kept secret. SB should not find out as he is good friends with UC. Moreover, the management should not know, as she and UC will definitely be reprimanded. Fans can be very jealous when they find out that their idol is just faking emotions toward a screen partner.

To escape this predicament, YT broached the idea of going on a solo project to show that she can be a star even without a loveteam. The same idea seemed fit for SB, so he can be partnered with other female talents as well. The idea was given a try and might actually improve the state of their careers. However, the motive really was for YT to break away from SB and that fans would no longer mind if she’s seen with UC.

Allegedly, SB is too much of an old school follower, who barely gave YT a kiss on the lips even when he had a chance. By contrast, YT squealed that UC is wild in bed, which she apparently prefers.

Chef-blogger Erwan Heusaff will return the talent fee he received after working as program ambassador and content creator for the Department of Tourism's culinary tourism project Buhay Carinderia, Secretary Berna Romulo-Puyat has said.

According to Saleema Refran's report on "24 Oras", Puyat said Heusaff told her that he only wanted to promote the country and its food.

"Kasi gusto lang naman niyang tumulong sa bayan. Babalik na lang daw niya yung pera. Wala naman sa kanya 'yun," Puyat said.

"Ang kay Erwan is gusto lang niya i-promote and Pilipinas at ang ating pagkain," she added.

Heusaff has yet to confirm the secretary's remarks.

Buhay Carinderia was among the DOT projects that were discontinued after it was found to have skipped public bidding.

Tens of millions of pesos have already been released to the project proponent before it was cancelled.

"Respeto," an independent film about the world of underground Pinoy hip-hop, led the winners of the 41st Gawad Urian with four trophies, including the top acting prize for rapper Abra.

The awards ceremony, held at the ABS-CBN Vertis Tent in Quezon City Thursday, gathered the best in filmmaking in the past year, as determined by the Manunuri ng Pelikulang Pilipino.

Abra, whose Best Actor trophy from the organization was a career first, joined other creatives behind "Respeto" as winners of the night. The film by Treb Monteras II also won Best Editing and Best Sound. Abra's co-star, Dido de la Paz, received the Best Supporting Actor award.

Trailing "Respeto" with two awards each were the musical "Ang Larawan," with best actress winner Joanna Ampil; and "Balangiga: Howling Wilderness," which took the Best Picture prize.

Absence of Courtesy

One of the consequences of being a celebrity is the extra attention given by the public whenever he/she is seen in malls, restaurants, supermarkets, etc. Thus, for someone who wants to work in the entertainment industry, one must learn how to handle fans in such instances. With social media, the presence of celebrities gets additional mileage and this familiarity creates the impression that celebrities are amiable automatically.

When Feisty Celebrity (FC) and her friends were malling in an upscale location, they noticed that a group of fans seems to be following them. Obviously, the fans were probably waiting for the right time to ask for a photo with FC. However, FC was irritated with the literal following and thus, she entered one of the boutiques.

As soon as FC and her friends entered the boutique, she requested the manager to close the door so the alleged fans will not get in to follow her and bug her while she tried on some clothes. The manager reluctantly agreed. FC proceeded to look and try on several items. The staff graciously extended courtesy and assisted FC. After trying one too many, FC left the store without buying anything.

The manager was shocked at the gall of FC. The staff followed her requests down to the last letter. Worse, the manager had to turn away other customers who wanted to enter the store because the doors were closed as FC was evading some of her alleged fans. However, before FC walked away, she spoke to the manager and left her phone number. FC told the manager to tell the boss of the company that if the store wants a celebrity endorser, she is available.

The attitude of FC added to the frustration of the manager who felt gullible. Nonetheless, the actions of FC were nothing new, as she has already established herself as someone who can be tactless and assuming with her colleagues. Her statements can be offensive, but she sometimes gets away with them because she simply says she’s just being honest.
