Effects of Her Past Choices
Whenever pregnancy rumors start gaining ground in showbiz, the question of the identity of the father tops the minds of the inquisitives. Then, the next reaction would border on questioning the status of the woman, ‘Is she married?’ Predictably, such rumors would take two roads. First, the said actress disappears for a few months and keeps mum on the reason why she would take a hiatus. If no baby is seen, tongues would assume she lost it. Correspondingly, if a baby emerges, the curious would want to know the plans of the said actress. Second, some actresses opt to flaunt their interesting stage. Several actresses have hired professional photographers to document their body changes every trimester until the big day.
On one hand, some actresses end up as single parents because the fathers cannot marry them for whatever reason. On the other hand, luckier actresses have the security of a stable marriage prior to getting pregnant. In these modern times, rare are such instances when marriage comes ahead of pregnancy in showbiz.
In the case of a Prized Actress (PA), a teleserye script could sum up her life story. When she met her Future Husband (FH), there was a meeting of minds and feelings, of course. As both of them were already old enough to make life changing decisions, PA and FH went through the typical process of getting married with an impressive wedding and sponsors, too. The couple was pleased with their decision to make a lasting commitment.
After the wedding, PA and FH were often teased that they should have a baby immediately despite being busy with their own careers. PA would not have minded taking a break to have a child. However, time passed and their fans have grown impatient and wondered what was taking them for so long to have a child. They have been spending time away from work and have not been subjected to any stressful situation based on news about them, except for the fact that the contemporaries of PA are married and already have children.
Thus, the couple finally decided to consult a specialist, who broke disappointing news. As far as FH was concerned, he was capable of siring children, and thus, he did have any problem. However, PA is the one in a fragile situation. In front of FH, they were told bluntly that PA has damaged part of her reproductive system, which could have been the effect of a couple of decisions she made during her youth. Now, when the time was right for her to have a child, it would be difficult.
Every cloud has a silver lining, and hope still prevails. They could still consult specialists who could help them conceive. PA could undergo treatment and if she does get pregnant, her situation would be very delicate. As they are still young, there is still time to pursue this mission.

This year the Miss Universe 2017 pageant will be extremely different. The judging panel is not going to have celebrities like other years, this time titleholders from the past will determine the winner. Latinas that have confirmed their assistance are Lupita Jones (1991), Dayanara Torres (1993), Dayana Mendoza (2008) and Gabriela Isler (2013). Other ladies scheduled to appear are Armi Kuusela (1952), Gloria Diaz (1969), Margie Moran (1973), Porntip Bui Simon (1988), Sushmita Sen (1994), Jennifer Hawkins (2004), Riyo Mori (2007) and Olivia Culpo (2012).
The 65th edition of Miss Universe will take place on Sunday, January 29 and will be hosted by Steve Harvey live from the Mall of Asia Arena in Manila, Philippines. During the previous edition of the beauty pageant, Harvey ruined the biggest moment of the night by announcing the wrong winner. Instead of announcing Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach as the new Miss Universe, the host announced Ariadna Gutierrez as the new beauty queen. Steve realized he had committed a mistake and and corrected the issue live, on-air as the world gasped in unison. The blunder proved to be huge in the ratings and a viral hit, hence why it was a no-brainer the "Family Feud" presenter would return for another year.
After the controversial moment Alonzo Wurtzbach reacted to the moment and said: "I am very sorry, I didn't take the crown from her and I wish her well in what ever she wants to pursue." For Gutierrez it was a little more difficult to break her silence after the embarrasing incident, but days later she finally did speak and said: "I want to thank each and everyone of you who have sent messages of support and strength. Every one of you has become an incredible human being in my book and I am the most fortunate and thankful for having the support not only from one country but from the whole entire world. Your destiny is written for you. And my destiny was this."
"I was able to bring happiness to my country after becoming Miss Universe for only a couple of minutes... Today because of that COLOMBIA and the LATIN COMMUNITY are being talked about in every corner of the world. I also want to congratulate the Philippines for their new Miss Universe __. Both Aunor and Oro director Alvin Yapan attended the hearing of the Senate committee on public information and mass media over different issues concerning the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF).
One of the matters taken up was the controversial dog slaughter scene in the 2016 entry Oro.
Yapan said nobody from the crew killed a dog.
"Hindi kami ang pumatay ng aso para lang sa pelikula kasi kami mismo -- ako hindi ko kaya pumatay ng aso," Yapan told the committee.
Aunor, however, refuted Yapan's statement, saying it was stated in the script that one dog will be killed. She earlier said that two dogs will be killed but then clarified the matter later on during the hearing.
"Meron talaga sa script na papatay sila ng aso. [Based sa script], pinukpok ng pinukpok ng dos por dos at nilaslas ang bituka ng aso. Nasa script po yan," Aunor said.
Aunor was first considered for the role of Kapitana, the lead character in the movie, which was played by Irma Adlawan.
"Sinungaling po sila kasi unang una, yung aso, yung sinasabi, pinukpok ng lang beses," Aunor insisted.
The actress also complained of not receiving a formal notice from the director nor the producer that she will no longer continue on with the project, despite already having attended a story conference.
Senator Grace Poe, chair of the Senate panel conducting the hearing, gave Yapan an opportunity to apologize over the incident.
"Taos puso, buong puso kaming magpapaumangin na madami kaming na-offend na tao at sensibilidad," Yapan said.
"Kailangan niyo rin maintindihan na hindi ko to ginagawa upang mang-gago. Ito ay reaction ko bilang creative artist at director kung paano ay yung everyday pagpatay ng tao ay hindi na natin iniinda," he added. —NB, GMA News

Will Jasmine Curtis-Smith Sign up with GMA and Star in ‘Mulawin’?

Social media is abuzz with speculations that Jasmine Curtis-Smith might sign up with GMA and work with no other than Dennis Trillo in the remake of ‘Mulawin.’ Rumors have it that Jasmine auditioned for a role in the next flagship project of the network. Although the station has yet to confirm the rumor, her audition was even said to be impressive.
Lately, Jasmine’s camp has been quiet on matters concerning her career. After receiving good reviews for ‘Imagine You and Me’ and Cinema One Originals, ‘Baka Bukas,’ no word has been floated on her next acting project. The re-orientation of TV5, where she has been regarded as one of its prime stars, has left Jasmine and its other talents out in the cold, as the station has decided to focus on sports, rather than continue investing in acting projects.
Hopefully, GMA and Jasmine will issue a statement confirming or denying such rumor. Nonetheless, Jasmine as a Kapuso would be truly a welcome development for the station and for her fans who wish to see more of her acting on primetime.
