A Messy Story

The recent posts of Popular Newbie (PN) addressed to unnamed personalities have left her loyal followers puzzled. Over the past months, PN has amassed fame in such a short time, a phenomenon that the entertainment industry has not seen since the rise of the Superstar. As showbiz has been trying to pull in PN, she has been trying to keep her life as normal as possible, such as not sacrificing family time during holidays and keeping her affairs as private as possible.

However, as PN is being groomed for a huge project, which has been put under strict confidentiality, rumors are being circulated that places PN in bad light. The most recent story circulating in social media is her presumed involvement with Budding Funnyman (BF), and this story even went to the extent of PN being pinpointed as the cause of his breakup with Sultry Model (SM).

The assumption that PN is flirting with BF came about from a series of posts of PN, which were assumed to pertain to BF. Then, further conclusions were made when BF and a Close Relation (CR) of PN connected through social media. PN was even pictured as trying to be chummy with BF, and even egged on Equally Famous celebrity (EF) to introduce her to SM. A photo with SM was then assumed as PN’s way of assessing her competition.

Things were further convoluted with the assumption that all was not well with BF and SM. Just because SM has more endorsements than BF, he was thought of as taking advantage by asking SM for expensive gifts. This behavior has caused strain on their relationship, as SM feels like his sugar mommy. Then, BF was even alleged to be trying to be close to PN for his own gain, as he hopes PN could help him gain entry to a popular show.

As the above story is making its way to various social media sites, PN, BF, and SM are being played up as parties in a triangle. Sadly, BF is the one at the losing edge, as he is pictured as a two-timer and guilty of overlapping relationships even if such stories have not been confirmed. Incidentally, bashers, who have similar names, locked as private accounts, and hardly have a number of followers, are having a field day leaving comments on his social media accounts. Such accounts insist that BF and PN are already together and even accuse BF of being a traitor to EF.

However, another angle is that these stories are attempts to besmirch the reputation of PN and to picture her as “cheating” on EF, who is seen innocent in this narrative. After all, image is everything in the local entertainment industry. Despite the popularity of the couple, some fans are exclusive to either PN or EF, and these fans do not waste the opportunity to comment on any presumed negative behavior of the two. Instead of coming up with a united front to support the project of the reel couple, some are destroying their image for whatever purpose. Moreover, such negativity prevents PN and EF from developing healthy relationships with their co-workers. One thing is sure, that is, popularity brings on bashers who will try to get the goat of celebrities even if stories are brought about by assumptions that prey on the gullibility of netizens.
