Egoistic Guise

This Yuletide season, people are expected to be kind and generous toward each other. However, these values should be practiced all year round and not just to this season. Sadly, Reliable Talent (RT) cannot seem to show kindness and tact to the ordinary fellows she encounters in her station and in her work.

As a dependable talent in her network, RT has been given projects that have surprisingly survived the ratings game and aired longer than ones that have stars bigger and more popular than she. Hence, even if she is sometimes beset with controversy, she still manages to be visible in shows that cut across time. Nonetheless, RT has to work harder, as new talents are being signed up by her network, and as soon as the station realizes someone is better, talents are slowly weeded out. If she does not reinvent herself, RT might not be prioritized.

Being homegrown and loyal to the network are the advantages of RT over other talents in her network. Unfortunately, despite being around for years, full stardom has been quite hard for RT to reach. The network could not be faulted, as it has done all it could for RT, such as giving her good roles in big projects and pairing her with various male leads to see with whom she will click. Unfortunately, something seems to prevent RT from being as popular as her contemporaries. As always, this situation has something to do with her attitude.

One time, RT chanced upon a Production Crew (PC) eating a particular brand of local chocolates. The brand is quite popular, and has been around for decades. PC was so engrossed in her eating, indicating that she really loved that brand. Upon seeing her, RT asked if she could have some. PC gave RT a few cups to try. After trying a bit, RT suddenly started ranting at PC and questioned why PC was so absorbed with eating the local chocolates.

Shocked at the reaction of RT, PC refrained from replying despite being made to feel small by the talent. PC allegedly wanted to remind RT of her roots and that she did not grow up eating foreign-branded chocolates. Despite having her snack time ruined, PC kept to herself and let RT talk and continue proving that she, indeed, is judgmental and looks down at people effortlessly.

Beyond Indecent

The excitement that follows the announcement that stations will be holding auditions for a talent search are often overwhelming. For example, lines of teens hoping to be discovered circle around the block, and such lines could last for the days and are common in audition sites all over the country. The number of teens whose ambitions rely on their talents, looks, and confidence, is increasing. Once a teener is chosen to be part of the final group, he/she ought to feel privileged. However, that is just the beginning.

When Talent Wannabee (TW) was included in the group of potential talents to be built up by the station, she immediately became famous. The fame was not due to her exposure in the network, but rather, to the stories and photos that claimed that the image given to her by the network is the opposite of who she really is in real life. Instead of the nice and girl-next-door image, TW was allegedly someone who could be such pain. However, these claims were downplayed and TW continued with her quest for that elusive stardom.

Given the hundreds of talents in waiting, no one is indispensable among the newbies. For those starting out, like TW, their future is only as good as the outcome of their present performance. When their names are attached to controversy, the network shies away from continuing its plans, except for talents that are obviously favorites of the management.

In the case of TW, she apparently did not learn from her earlier controversy. Once someone steps into showbiz, each move is closely watched. Therefore, one cannot behave contrary to what is expected. In gatherings, whether private or public, one should be extra careful, as actions will be given meaning by onlookers.

In an event, TW was seen kissing passionately Cute Sports Personality (SP). While the incident could have been dismissed as an expression of the uncontrollable feelings between two young persons, there’s a catch. TW is committed to another Showbiz Newbie (SN). SN is not new to showbiz controversy, as he has connections in the industry and even in the sports field.

With the story of the kissing incident going around social media, TW is now trying to clean up her act by reaching out to the camp of SN and assuring them that such story was not true, and accusing some people of forcing the link between her and SP. One thing is for sure, that is, TW should learn to behave and not succumb to dares or actions that could jeopardize her reputation. She should behave with decency, but it's too late. SN has left her.
