Repost: Jasmine Curtis Smith Reflects on Her Past Year

It’s only been a year.

Around this time last year I was having the time of my life. The kind of “time of my life” wherein I didn’t care ¬– I was drinking hard, going out every chance I got, getting home at an ungodly hour with greasy food inside of me. I was being 21.

I thought I was doing the post breakup single life really well, considering that in the first few months I was exercising a lot, eating healthily, always had time for family and friends with just enough time to get myself active and moving. That didn’t last long. After my birthday trip, my eating habits went berserk, gym time became…stay-at-home-to-cure-this-hangover time, the only time I had free I spent out with friends chugging beers and listening to really good music. Anyway, to cut it short, I developed a side of me that people didn’t recognise. I loved every part of it though. It felt like I was living the “normal” life. I was able to go to small bars in the middle of Cubao, share cheap alcoholic drinks and deep drunken conversations about the “adult” life, the love for film, the craziness of our country and of love. Yes. I felt like I was connecting to the real world.

Months later and one weekend getaway later.. reality punched me in the face. A conversation at 11pm after an 8 hour drive back home from the beach awakened me to what I was really doing to myself and to the people around me. All the late night going out and getting sh*tfaced is part of growing up, yes, and what makes it still okay is that I was only 21 years old. But I couldn’t take it any longer. During those days I drowning myself in the thoughts of just giving up on how to handle everything, I was living by the buzz of the beers rather than facing my demons and challenges sober and with thought. My body wasn’t taking it anymore either. I had been to the hospital twice since developing my horrible drinking habits. I wanted out.

A year later and I find myself on a Saturday night, alone in bed with my Papito snoring on his bed. Life is totally different. My boyfriend is out of town for a while getting a shoot done for his surf school and I’m here making good use of my time by filling you all in on what’s been a very good year to me. I honestly don’t regret last year (maybe the amount of alcohol consumed, that’s about it). But what makes me happy tonight is the thought that sometimes it just takes a crazy experience to get your butt kicked so you can get moving and improving again. An experience you grow through rather than just go through.

PS.I know I promised on Twitter that I was going to post about Europe but that can wait.

PPS. I stopped drinking earlier this year due to my acidity. Don’t get me wrong, I still go out every now and then the only difference is now I stick to one glass per night out. :) Sa lahat ng magsasabing KJ, kayo nalang uminom ng alak para sakin. Tnx.

Just Bring Yourself

Whenever accomplished celebrities are asked for advice on their secrets for success, they often mention the hardships they had surpassed before reaching their status. Most would cite stories of how they would be alone in lining up for auditions, cry whenever they were not picked, and remain hopeful when their preparation leads to failure.

However, a concrete lesson that they often emphasis is being independent in their dealings. For example, as they still had to keep every expense within a budget, they had to learn to put on makeup, choose the right outfit, and project that their style is the most fashionable. Compared to these celebrities whose experiences have made them humble, Time-Challenged talent (TC) seems to be moving with no care for money and reputation.

Compared to the celebrities cited above, TC is still trying to stabilize her career despite belonging to a big network and having many projects. While she will make heads turn, TC’s fame is elusive, and observers attribute her inability to become popular to her attitude. One time, TC had a guesting with a huge network. Things would have worked out well had TC were more conscious of time.

The production crew of the said show was on pins and needles, as they still could not find TC, whose call slip indicated that TC should have arrived hours ago. Finally, TC arrived, but there was a slight commotion that the production team had to address. TC came with her entourage, and following them were security personnel. The production team had to assure security that all were part of the team of TC, just to save face. Thus, TC was told not to bring so many people with her, as they would only create chaos and run the risk of being doubted by other celebrities because of unfamiliarity. This made TC think because each one in her team had a task. Other than her makeup artist, wardrobe consultant, the rest of her team comprised assistants who would take care of her belongings.

The head of the production was fuming as TC came without being prepped up. Thus, as soon as she got to her space, her team started to fix her, put on makeup, and prepare her for her scene. The head started to call for the cast and TC was still not ready. As the show was about to start, the head started screaming at the backstage to make sure everyone knew the irritation. This scenario sent shivers because the talk hinted on TC not being granted another appearance at the said show.

While her contemporaries abide by the unspoken rules on discipline, TC seems to believe that her stature should be accorded with all the perks of a VIP, which, unfortunately, is all in her head.

Insta Scoop: Baron Geisler Apologizes To Ping Medina and Arlyn dela Cruz

The Professional Artist Managers, Inc. (PAMI) Inhibit Their Artists from Working with Baron Geisler and Director Arlyn dela Cruz

The Professional Artist Managers, Inc. ("PAMI") has called for an emergency meeting in response to the letter of complaint received from actor Ping Medina dated 30 November 2016 regarding an incident that happened during the shooting of a scene for the film "Bubog", involving his co-actor, Baron Geisler.

Ping Medina wrote that "Baron urinated on my torso and face without my permission." PAMI strongly condemns this disgusting act and behavior of Geisler.

After a thorough discussion and deliberation during the meeting, in the presence of Geisler's manager and PAMI member, Arnold Vegafria, PAMI unanimously arrived at the decision to inhibit all our artists from working with Geisler in any movie and television projects for an indefinite period.

PAMI received Vegafria's assurance that he will refuse to accept any projects until such time that Geisler is mentally fit and psychologically stable to resume his work as an actor.

In addition, Vegafria filed a formal complaint questioning the capacity of the movie's producer/director, Arlyn Dela Cruz, to exercise control and assume full responsibility on the set, that could have prevented this regrettable incident to happen.

As managers, when we send our artists to the set, it is with our complete trust that the producer and director will protect and ensure the safety of our artists.  Therefore, we have also unanimously agreed to inhibit all our artists from accepting any projects involving Arlyn Dela Cruz.

As always, PAMI is together with the industry in aspiring for a healthy, safe and professional working environment.
