The AlDub campaign of Smart Communications’ mainstream market brand TNT won Best Operator Marketing Campaign at the Global Telecoms Awards ceremony held recently in London.

Produced by industry publication Telecoms.com, this awards program recognizes innovation and excellence in the global telecommunications industry.

The TNT AlDub campaign won for being the most effective marketing campaign of the year in terms of business benefits. TNT delivered above business expectations by combining enjoyable and relatable content with well-timed market-relevant offers and insightful engagement through endorsement by well-loved celebrities.

Smart’s GigaSurf50 campaign was also shortlisted for the award, along with Accenture and Vodafone UK’s Ready Business Indicator, and Telecom Fiji’s Connect WIFI campaign.

TNT’s AlDub campaign featured the hugely popular love team of Alden Richards and Maine “Yaya Dub” Mendoza. As the TV couple communicated via Twitter and Instagram exchanges, TNT found them to be the perfect brand ambassadors as it started to target a more digital savvy-market. The pair also represented TNT’s core values of being fun, sociable, accessible, and youthful.

TNT launched a promo that enabled its subscribers to augment their existing prepaid calls and texts with basic internet offers for a minimal amount. By texting EXTEND to 4545, they could add 24 hours of validity to selected offers for a minimal P5 fee.

For traditional call and text users, TNT offered the Alden and Maine Load Promos, which allowed unlimited calls and texts within the network. Both of these promos were extendable.

The integrated marketing campaign included a TV commercial which was also posted online, where it got a whopping 33.3 million views overnight and drove 3.1 million conversations.

TNT also launched a limited-edition AlDub SIM with free access to Twitter, as well as digital AlDub stickers.

Smart has won three citations from the Global Telecoms Awards, formerly known as the Telecoms.com Awards – Operator OTT Service Launch Award for SmartNet in February 2014, Green Technology Award for the Green Merchandising Program in December 2014, and Connecting the Unconnected Award for PowerApp in November 2015.

Veteran actress and Batangas 6th District Rep. Vilma Santos-Recto said she does not meddle with the affairs of her son, Luis Manzano, especially when it comes to his love life.

Speaking on DZMM, Santos said she respects all her son's decisions.

"Alam niya kung saan siya masaya, alam niya ang tama, alam niya ang mali. I am just here to guide him. He is old enough, mature enough to handle his life," Santos said when asked about Manzano's dates with actress Jessy Mendiola, who she has met on different occasions.

(He knows what can make him happy. He knows when he's right and when he's wrong. I am just here to guide him. He is old enough, mature enough to handle his life.)

She also said she does not pressure her son to get married or to have children.

"Hindi ko pwedeng panghimasukan kasi ang mas worse, magdesisyon siya tapos masisira rin. Siya naman ang nakakaramdam noon eh," Santos said.

(I cannot meddle [in his affairs] because it will be worse if he made a decision that he will regret. He'll know if it's the right time [to get married.])

Santos earlier expressed her support for her son after the television host received harsh criticism over his admission that he is dating Mendiola.

Manzano, three months after confirming his split with Locsin, told the media that he and Mendiola started going out. It was in response to a report claiming that they were already a couple, and after photos of them on a movie date surfaced.

Mendiola also earlier shared her experience in meeting Santos, who invited her for dinner.

Securing a Reasonable Plan

The relationship of Versatile Actress (VA) and Cute Celebrity (CC) has been admired for various reasons. While VA is a bigger personality than CC, he did not have ego or pride problems in such a situation. He asserted his role as a partner and treated VA in the same way. Prior to their settling down, VA and CC quietly allowed their romance to bloom. Unlike other couples, who deny the obvious, VA and CC went with the flow, which was why their relationship was not extensively covered. Although they were both public figures, they maintained a low profile relationship.

Another ideal factor was that CC pursued his own career, and at certain times, he assured VA that she does not have to work just to make sure they had food on the table. He even supported VA when she tried to venture into her other passions. He was always there to show that he appreciated VA. More importantly, the family of VA adores CC because he accepted everything about VA without any doubt.

As time passed, bits of rust started to form in the relationship. Rumors have it that despite his boy-next-door image, CC could sometimes seek for physical encounters beyond his supposedly faithful relationship with VA. He has even been rumored to have a Steady Partner (SP), whom he values because other than the physical match, they seem to be more intellectually compatible. Reality says that despite working in the same industry, VA and CC had very diverse backgrounds.

Here now lies a problem that could potentially ruin everything CC had worked hard for. Allegedly, his trysts with SP had led to a sire. However, the family of SP refuses to acknowledge CC as the father because they are well off and would not want a scandal to expose their family. Not wanting to risk anything, CC had to do something to condition VA of the possibility of the scandal leaking out, as SP seems to be wanting to run after him.

When a partner has transgressed, what would he/she do? Naturally, in this case, CC has to be extra nice and supportive to VA. While such actions seem typical, CC has been outdoing himself by showering VA with very expensive gifts, which any woman who has a family would want. However, the most precious gift that CC has given to VA is spending time with her away from the craziness of the business and even without their kids. Those who know the potential scandal believe that CC is indeed prepping up VA in case his misdeed finally gets revealed. Besides, he has to be logical with his plan because they stand to lose much in terms of endorsements and more importantly, the reaction of their families.
