But the Event Was Not about You

Occasionally, the entertainment industry is blessed with celebrities who inspire the public with their positive actions. Whenever these celebrities perform in shows or attend fan meets, the followers leave the venues pleased and happy. Another measure of the success of celebrities is the admiration expressed by actors who come from their rival networks. If popularity transcends such boundaries, the management knows it has a goldmine.

When Media Personality (MP) started to become vocal over her admiration for Hardworking Couple (HC), she generated curiosity from fans. Although MP has been in the business for quite a time, it is only recently that she expressed her being a fan for HC. MP did not mind being part of the many followers, as long as she was able to show her fondness for HC. Her reputation in the industry did not matter anymore, as she became a fan of HC.

In one of the major events in the segment of HC, viewers were surprised as to why MP was not present. Some thought that it might have been on short notice, which is why MP was not around. While others thought that she might not have been invited at all. Nonetheless, a more personal event with fans had already been scheduled even prior to the said airing of the episode. This time, MP made sure she was invited.

The day came and MP was indeed present. Given the toxic schedule of HC, the plan was for them to stay only for a brief moment, which was intended to show their support for their fans. The fans knew the two had limited time, which was supposed to be maximized. Through certain maneuverings, MP decided to make sure she was heard. Thus, MP went onstage when HC was present. Being a celebrity herself, the audience, including HC, had no choice but to listen to her speech.

As MP read her open letter, the fans were becoming uncomfortable because four pages were quite a bit much. However, MP did not stop at reading her letter. She took time to analyze the relationship of HC and started to talk about the parallels between the reel loveteam with that of her own love life. As the audience was polite, MP was able to finish her talk nicely. However, some attendees disliked what happened. The event was supposed to be for HC, but MP acted like the event was centered on her. Besides, her speech took too much time, which could have been spent on more interactions with HC. Nonetheless, her actions proved the effect that HC have on fans.

Jake Cuenca has broken his silence amid rumors that he caused a commotion during the recently concluded Star Magic Ball while Jericho Rosales was supposedly giving his acceptance speech for an award he received.

Speaking to entertainment reporters on Monday, Cuenca said it’s not true although he admitted that he had been drinking.

“Definitely I had way too much fun. Medyo naparami ako ng inom so inalalayan ako ng handler ko, ng dalawang road manager ko. Medyo nag-mukha lang na may commotion pero in reality, I was having way too much fun and they just wanted me to go up and rest,” he said.

Cuenca said he was also able to talk to Rosales.

“Wala talaga. Nangyari lang sa ganung instance pero nag-usap kami ni Echo, walang kaproble-problema. It just happened in an instance na nagsasalita siya at doon na 'yung nag-decide sila na paakyatin na ako,” he said.

Cuenca also appealed to people not to misinterpret his closeness to his “Pasion de Amore” co-star Ellen Adarna, who was also at the ball.

“Hindi ko ide-deny 'yung fact na magkaibigan kami ni Ellen talaga. Walang wala. Kung meron akong katumbas, kung may babaeng version ko, si Ellen 'yun. Magkasama kami, me, Mark Nicdao and Ellen. We are really good friends so sana huwag na bigyan ng malisya ng tao 'yun because there’s nothing,” he said.

“Sa hinaba-haba ng tinakbo ng ‘Pasion de Amor,’ if I ever found anyone attractive, it’s always Arci (Munoz). So I just want to put that out there,” he added.

Moving on

Meanwhile, Cuenca shared that he is now in the process of moving on after he and model Sara Grace Kelley broke up again just recently.

“I’ve always said, hanggang ngayon naman, she will always have a special place in my heart but I have to move forward and she’s doing the same thing. I’ll always respect her and never forget the memories I spent with her,” he said.

Cuenca said he is just grateful that he has a lot of things which keep him busy lately.

“Matagal 'yung process [of moving on]. I’m still going through the process. It’s still hard. Pero salamat sa Diyos may trabaho. Kesa nagmumukmok ka sa bahay or lumalabas ka trying to do things, at least nabubuhos mo lahat ng energy mo sa isang magandang bagay which is work,” he said.

Cuenca is part of an upcoming ABS-CBN series “Ikaw Lang ang Iibigin,” starring Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson.

Aside from the new TV show, Cuenca has also recently finished two movies and he is in the process of producing his first film for the Cinemalaya Film Festival.

Keeping Her Bad Mood in Check

The moment when Stunning Celebrity (SC) entered the venue, all eyes turned towards her. Soon, cameras were focused at SC to capture her best angles. As soon as her photos hit social media sites, SC trended. So far, no celebrity who has attended the event has achieved what SC accomplished that night, that is, to be unanimously agreed as the best dressed for the night. Whether it was social media of traditional channels, SC topped the list.

While everyone seemed happy for SC, Upset Talent (UT) apparently did not like what was happening. Since the time UT was old enough to come to the said event, she always managed to keep most of the attention to herself. This time, things were different, as SC was obviously the most popular star that night.

Prior to the said event, preparations usually take time. In the case of celebrities at the level of UT, the overall look for that night is the product of well thought out planning and collaborating with the designer and stylist. Overnight preparations for female guests are definitely a no-no. Celebrities know that they will be watched all over the world, as this year, the coverage of the red carpet walk is more organized.

As this year is a milestone year for UT, she has been quite busy and thus, was unable to find ample time to discuss her look for that night. Nonetheless, she trusted her team to decide on what they thought would be best for her. On the day she was dressing up, UT was showing signs of distress. It’s not that she did not like the gown, it’s just that she felt her look was not bringing out her best look. The gown was stunning, but her overall look, from the outfit to the hairstyle, made her much older than her age. Although her career is being geared towards maturity, her style for the event made her uncomfortable.

Worsening this feeling was the happening at the venue itself. The attention given to UT was nothing compared to the attention given to SC. Even the boys were focused on SC that night. So as not to make a big deal of her discomfort, UT stayed on until the program was over and immediately left. She did not even mingle with her co-talents during the party. When she left earlier than expected, people were told that she was quite tired.

In an ironic twist of events, the Facebook account of the netizen who started a petition to ban avid Rodrigo Duterte supporter Mocha Uson’s page has been reported to the social networking site.

Paul Quilet said in an update he posted Monday night on his change.org petition that he has already sought the reactivation of his Facebook account.

“My Facebook account has been reported. I have requested Facebook to have it reactivated ASAP,” Quilet wrote.

Since his update at 10:30 p.m. Monday, Quilet has yet to post of any development regarding his account.

On Sunday, Quilet started the “Suspend Mocha Uson Blog Facebook Page” petition in a bid to quell the “social media page which promotes lies and hate-mongering online.”

“I have never seen someone divide our country so much since the time of Marcos. The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing,” Quilet said of his petition that has gathered 30,557 supporters as of writing.

Uson, a member of an all-female singing group and an avid supporter of President Duterte, responded to the petition by uploading early Tuesday a mugshot of her with her mouth taped. The photo had on its borders the caption, “If you can’t handle the truth, silence it. We stand with Mocha.”

Quilet has since defended his position, and said that there’s “always a thin line between rights and responsibilities.”

“Everyone is free to express what they want. But problems arise when this fundamental right is used to manipulate and condition the public, when it is exploited to serve anyone’s purpose, when it is used as a shield against accountability,” Quilet said. CDG/rga
