Not Lovelier the Second Time Around

Achiever Actress (AA) and Persistent Hunk (PH) have undergone several trials in their on and off relationship, and a recent incident might once again spell doom for their love. When photos of AA and PH together slowly emerged in their social media sites, their fans were happy that the two could have settled their differences. Given that they are now older, more stable, and seemingly, more mature, their second chance was inevitable. However, certain circumstances have not changed at all.

When AA was busy with her project with Cute Actor (CA), PH was in the planning stages of his new show. Despite their busy schedules, they would manage to spend time with one another. During these moments, AA would broach the idea of settling down with PH. However, PH kept hedging and did not take cues from the hints dropped by AA. After all, a second chance could have been the sign that they are meant to have a life-long relationship.

Thus, AA became closer to CA and even declared that CA is one person whom she could fall for if things fell into place. Naturally, their fans bought the idea given that their chemistry was undeniable. At this point, PH realized that he was indeed jealous because CA has his own way of attracting women and he has broken so many hearts in his lifetime.

When Influential Insider (II) noticed that PH was having moments of jealousy, II took advantage of the opportunity to fan the flame. II set up a meet up between PH and a co-star, Voluptuous Newcomer (VN), in a bar. Gullible as he was because of his feeling for AA, PH and VN started drinking. As VN was already tipsy, II told PH to bring her home. So, the two were seen leaving the venue together. That night was not just an ordinary night because AA was at home expecting a call from PH because they were supposed to be celebrating an anniversary.

Waiting was taking much toll on AA, so she called PH, but his mobile could not be reached. Then, she called an assistant who told her that PH and VN were drinking in a bar. As predicted, AA went to the bar, but did not see PH and VN. When she asked about the two, someone told her that both had left earlier because they were drunk. What AA did not know was that the assistant was under the instructions of II, who might have known of the seriousness of the plans of AA for her relationship with PH. It was a plan that he obviously found disagreeable.

Furious, AA went to social media and made sure her accounts featured only her pictures. In other words, she made sure the presence of PH would not be found in her accounts. When PH realized the implications of his actions, he tried to soothe AA, who was determined to break up with him again. Rather than respond with negative statements, PH expressed positive wishes for AA. These pronouncements confused their followers, but then, some read this reaction of PH as a sign of his maturity. However, another camp insists that ceasefire was in motion so as not to ruin the positive image of the two. Their fans have been clamoring for a project that would bring them together and their last project is drawing attention abroad as well. Hence, for now, AA and PH will be quiet and publicity will say that both are focusing on their projects.

Retail innovation cited as key growth driver

Constant innovation will remain the Philippine retail industry’s significant growth driver in the coming years, according to Philippine Retailers Association (PRA) during its 19th Outstanding Filipino Retailers and Shopping Centers of the Year Awards held recently at the Marriott Hotel in Pasay City.

The retail industry has contributed about 18% of GDP in 2015 alone. PRA Vice Chairman Roberto Claudio cited OFW remittances, BPO earnings, increased consumer spending power, and tourism as key contributors to this development. Tourism, in particular, is projected to attract 12.5M tourists by 2022. This means demand for shopping, leisure and entertainment will increase tremendously.

Claudio said that although the retail industry has been experiencing growth over the last three years, it still has to address the challenge to keep the consumers coming to the stores because of the growing popularity of e-commerce. “We need to go beyond the idea of selling. We have to provide excellent customer experience for them to keep coming back to our stores,” he said.

Claudio gave SM as an example on how to meet the demand because of the company’s continuous investments in shopping, hotel and conventions, events and entertainment. “SM never stopped innovating. It keeps reinventing itself. In retail, you can’t afford to be complacent once you meet your sales targets. Just look at how many times SM innovates, how they keep reinventing their product categories, how they continue training their people,” Claudio said.

PRA Chairman Emeritus Samie Lim believes that SM’s success is driven by SM founder Henry Sy, Sr.’s ability to see beyond selling and marketing. According to Lim, Henry Sy was instrumental in bringing the Asian Retailers Conference and Exhibit to the Philippines in 1993 at the then newly built SM Megamall. There, he remembers seeing Henry Sy, exchanging ideas with, and learning from, the delegates who were some of Asia’s best retailers.

“Henry Sy is a true visionary. He doesn’t see things for what they are, but for what they can become,” Lim said. “That’s how SM became a leader. The company’s tradition of learning from the best retailers around the world continues until today. That’s the spirit of entrepreneurship.”

Today, the tradition is carried on by Hans Sy as president of SM Prime Holdings. “This win is a tribute to the entire team whose hard work has helped build the SM brand in the way it is recognized today,” said Hans Sy about the various awards SM brought home from the PRA. “It is a win that will help keep us on track toward maintaining innovative products and services.”

SM Megamall went home with another Shopping Center of the Year award, which automatically elevates it to PRA’s Hall of Fame. It was also given a special award for Best Retail Architecture awarded by the Southeast Asia Property Awards.

Must Keep the Relationship Intact, Even If He is a Jerk

Whenever a partner notices a change in the behavior of the loved one, expect questions to arise. For example, the moment that Comedy Talent (CT) noticed that her Significant Other (SO) started to be more attentive to his mobile device at night, CT started to become suspicious. Worse, SO started taking his calls away from her. Following her woman’s instinct, she discovered every wife’s nightmare.

The career of CT began when no one thought she could become an important talent of her network. Thus, instead of allowing negative comments to pull her down, CT banked on her with and being natural to win the heart of the management and fans. Soon, CT found herself with loyal fans as well as developed friendships with famous celebrities. As time passed, CT continued to work hard for herself and her family. Soon, she was able to give a bit of relief to her family.

As the career of CT moved, SO was lingering within the range. Once CT and SO were seen together, chemistry was undeniable and fans loved them. While some people discouraged CT from entertaining SO beyond their professional relationship, love won and soon, their reel relationship became real. As soon as the jubilee waned, rumors started to crop up that all was not well.

When CT noticed the behavioral change in SO, she thought of acting quickly. As soon as SO was in the shower, CT looked at his phone and noted a frequently called number. Instead of confronting SO immediately, CT conducted her investigation and asked her pals to find the owner of the number. It turns out that a temporary Production Assistant (PA) in one of the shows of the network was the apple of the eye of SO. The relationship was not merely a fling, as SO and PA had already become intimate. Hence, the secretive taking of calls and other unusual behavior of SO.

As the wife and aggrieved party, CT confronted SO and was bent on leaving him. Unfortunately, the public immediately noticed the change in the social media account of CT and assumed something was indeed wrong with the couple. Before matters worsened, SO realized that without CT, he was nothing. Breaking up with her would mean losing his family and his career. After all, public sympathy would definitely be with CT and he would be a villain in the configuration.

Thus, SO sought help from Influential Host (IH), who sincerely shared his time and wisdom to the couple later on. IH encouraged the two to work out their problem and not separate, as breaking up would hurt their family and their career. The image of CT, which was wholesome and that of a role model, would be ruined if she ends up with a broken marriage. SO begged for forgiveness, as he had so much to lose, and asked for another chance. Lucky for him, CT opted for a happy ending, and together, both are working out their relationship.
