Items believed to have been stolen from passengers' bags were discovered in the lockers of six baggage handlers at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3.

Photos released by the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) show the stolen items, which include pieces of jewelry, wristwatches, blankets, and several padlocks.

The MIAA said these items were discovered by intelligence agents upon checking the lockers of six baggage handlers.

MIAA general manager Jose Honrado expressed alarm over the incidents of theft happening inside the airport.

"Alarming talaga," Honrado said. "Imagine gaano kalaki ang susi ng maleta. Maliit lang yan, i-ganyan mo lang, tanggal na."

The six baggage handlers have been suspended while investigation is ongoing.

According to Honrado, these station loaders are not MIAA nor NAIA personnel. They are outsourced by the airlines, he said.

To address the issue, MIAA officials met with the group of baggage handlers to tackle strategies on how to stop the pilferage activities.

MIAA gave the bag handlers two weeks to come up with a proposal. MIAA is planning to propose a spot inspection of lockers and that the ground handlers wear pants with no pockets.

Honrado, meanwhile, advised passengers to refrain from putting valuables in their check-in baggage.

"Huwag kayo maglagay ng valuable... Sino loko-lokong maglalagay ng P10,000 o ng jewelry? Sa hand carry mo ilagay yan," he said.

Neighbors affect our lives to a large extent. Whether we will be able to live life peacefully in our community or not greatly depends upon the kind of neighbors we have. Certainly, life is not good and easy when our neighbors are loud, inconsiderate and ‘weird.’

However, there are ways to live in harmony with our fellow residents in the community if we are willing to develop our relationship with them. We need to do our part, whether we like it or not. We can try being friendly, even if it hurts. We can put a smile on our faces and fight off the temptation to be sarcastic and retaliatory. Take the high road. Yet some say that it is easier said than done.

We have heard of celebrities being complained about by their neighbors, usually in upscale communities. The complaints range from too much noise from parties lasting till the wee hours, improper car parking on the street, even concerns on their pets and visitors, among other issues.

One of the problems besetting some residents in a gated subdivision is having to live with their noisy and inconsiderate “kapitbahay” in the person of a High Profile Star HS who lives with her family. HS' neighbors understand her need to hang out with her friends knowing how busy her showbiz commitments are. But HS' and her friends’ behavior leave much to be desired.

Reports have it that HS and company would often go biking on the streets with their pets in tow. The noise they create, according to the neighbors, would have been tolerable and acceptable if they bike and do their thing at daytime - but that is not so. These neighbors have long complained about HS and friends’ shouting and laughing while they’re on the streets playing with their dogs, riding on their bikes at such ungodly hours from 1 to 3 o'clock in the morning! They don’t give a damn and shamelessly strut and show off their thing for all to see and hear. Neighbors ask, “ where are HS' parents all along?”

Reportedly, the neighbors are not going to take this matter sitting down anymore as their silence is being construed as tolerance of HS' rudeness and disrespect. Observers note that HS has been acting carelessly and indecently ever since she was allegedly disowned by a certain group.

“ A good neighbor is a priceless treasure. “
