He Likes it Cheap

As is common practice in the industry, make-believe love angles between two stars are encouraged by their management network to draw more interest from the public. This has always been part of the package aimed at those who are being groomed to be paired as love teams. Generally, in the name of stardom, stars swallow this system – hook, line and sinker.
Presumptuous Actor PA for example, will do everything in his power to attain his dream status in the industry, even at the risk of great discomfort. He had done many a “gimmick” in the past to prove his point, but more often than not, it comes off as fake in the eyes of the public.
One day, PA reportedly planned a “scripted” date with a Friendly Partner FP. Source labeled it as scripted because a romantic-comedy (romcom) project for the love team is in the offing. Indeed, PA had to work harder to hint of a serious relationship with FP. And so PA booked their dinner at a Fancy Restaurant FR and reserved a private room for him and FP. Dinner went well as the two of them have always been comfortable with each other.
Then came the bill. PA was dumbfounded when he saw the figures, almost double of what he expected! He found it too much for him to pay. Furious, he talked to FR manager and said he’s not paying the amount. The manager justified that the beautifully themed private room didn’t come cheap and so the bill was a bit high.
PA insisted that it was the restaurant’s duty to protect the privacy of its celebrity clients from fans and onlookers by providing them rooms for the purpose. At this point, manager pointed out to PA that theirs was a high-end restaurant, patronized only by the well-heeled and not a fast food joint which is open to the general public. Thus PA can be assured that with FR, he can dine in peace and have a good time, and not worry about star struck diners and bothersome fans.
Having said that, the manager reiterated that PA had to pay the full amount. PA’s credit card was swiped the amount including the minimum consumable to make sure he gets charged the without consumable. However, PA demanded that transaction be voided because he wanted to pay cash. But he ended up short, so FP had to chip in. FR manager gave PA full accommodation despite his highfalutin attitude. But all that came with a hefty cost – he got permanently banned from FR.

Her Weakness
An opportunity to penetrate the international market is often a goal for most showbiz stars. However, not every performer will be given the chance to be invited to act or to audition for international roles. For the few who opted to pursue careers abroad, fewer were able to make a name for themselves. Most return home empty-handed, but make it a point to stress that they gained valuable experience, if not exposure.
When female model (FM) was announced to take on the hosting chores of an international franchise, it was a proud moment for the local followers of the said program. After all, it was another recognition that a Filipino talent was of international caliber. Besides, optimism followed as the opportunity could open bigger doors for FM.
Alas, within few weeks into the show, stories about FM’s backstage behavior are emerging. Some stories claim that FM exhibited her bratty behavior, which did not surprise those who learned about such incidents. Now, another story reveals that FM has another behavior that is indicative of her lack of skills as a host. Allegedly, FM refuses to memorize her lines and prefers to have the script fed to her via an earpiece. Her dependency on the words relayed to her dampens the spontaneity of the program. The crew was stunned as they expected FM to be more skilled.
Too bad, but despite the exposure, FM needs to work harder or face the fact that she is not of international standards. After all, a pretty face is never a guarantee that one can wing it.

Letter from a Reader: Liceo de Cagayan University Students Clean Third Floor Classroom Windows
Image courtesy of Fashion PULIS reader
Dear FashionPulis,
Yesterday (March 13, 2015), I sent my daughters to school (Liceo de Cagayan University) and after making sure that they are inside their respective class rooms, I took a trip to the comfort room. When I was about to exit the comfort room, I noticed students shouting something from the outside. Right there and then, I stepped outside (the comfort room has an exit that leads to the back of the building) to check what was happening, and to my surprise, I saw students on the third floor cleaning their classroom. If you can see the photos, the students are standing on a very unsafe ledge. I think even construction workers need to wear harness for this kind of job. These students are young and naive and they do not realize how dangerous this can be.
This school is rather prestigious here in Cagayan de Oro. I do not think the parents are aware that the lives of their children are in danger while they are in school. I am sure they all think that their children's teachers are taking good care of them.
My question to this school is why are the students allowed to even go outside? This photo was taken around nine in the morning when classes were ongoing, and again I ask, where are their teachers? We do not pay more than PhP 40,000 a year just to put the lives of our children in danger!
Yours truly,
Cris Dina
