So Much Difficulty

Perhaps, the Controversial Personality CP has so belatedly realized that she can’t hang on to her restrictive ways forever in dealing with her Talented Ward TW. For years, CP has been put on the spotlight countless times, albeit in a very degrading manner.

CP’s eccentric ways had antagonized many people from different industry sectors who had to deal with her being TW’s front liner. These people have shared each other’s encounters all of which did not speak well of CP.

For the most part, CP’s notorious meddling was all about TW’s personal life which she was known to guard like her life depended on it - literally and figuratively. But to CP’s credit, it looks like she has indeed loosen up her grip on TW and has allowed her to enjoy life more.

Kibitzers and observers are won’t to believe that CP could have succumbed to pressures from the public, especially from netizens who just loved to hate her OR she could have probably smelled danger that prolonged outrage of fans and followers on her handling of TW could create backlash that she would regret forever.

On the other hand, it is a very welcome development, like a major milestone for TW who feels that the One up there had finally answered her plea – she can’t be happier. Everyday, TW celebrates her new-found freedom and she shows it.

However, recent talks had it that TW was reportedly broken-hearted when CP refused to let her go to an out-of-town event with Her Beau HB. Had it pushed through, it would have been TW and HB’s first time alone together. But CP’s stand could not be undone at that point, raising questions once more if TW is indeed free.

But then here comes CP, contradicting herself, making recent pronouncements that she no longer meddles in TW’s personal life. That being the case, where does that leave TW’s fans and supporters? Is this a case of “she said, they said?”

Meanwhile, observers and TW followers believe that CP should be given the benefit of the doubt, some time to adjust. They noted that the big change is no mean feat for her.

Just recently, a post from a Facebook user named Gelene Timoteo-Galinato sent everyone into panic and shock. The post’s origin was actually from Jernest Mansilla-Car___ . She tells how her sister was almost kidnapped while walking in Shaw Blvd, a public place where no one would ever suspect any kidnapping would occur.

The victim was about to go to an interview somewhere in Shaw Blvd. When she got off the bus near Shangri-La Mall Edsa, a man from the same bus she rode in followed and pulled her to a van that stopped in front of them. Another man got down from the van and helped the 1st man, forcing her to get inside the vehicle.

With presence of mind and strong-will, the woman tried to fight back, throwing punches and doing everything she could even though the man was hitting her in the head.

Luckily, Jernest’s sister got away with only ripped clothes. She said she did not have any regrets with the things these men got from her-bag, iPhone, and cash. All she ever thought about was her security.

The victim got home with the help of an old woman who witnessed the incident. She gave her PhP50 and another person approached and handed her PhP8.

Crafting the Angle of Her Career

One of the prized performers of this network (TN) brings more than her talent to the station. Fearless and beautiful (FB), she is a top endorser of commodities that run across social classes. With a few words in her social media accounts, FB can reach out to millions in a snap. With her confidence, FB can generate so much interest in her appearances as well as the box office. Hence, TN knows that the image of FB has to be protected.

Despite the blessings and the highly regarded image, FB had unguarded moments that showed her ugly horns. Witnesses leaked a story of how FB acted out in rage. Sometime ago, while allegedly under the influence of liquor, she slapped co-workers (CW), who played a prank on her. Lucky for her, CW did not say anything. Even before the story was full blown, FB issued an apology. However, her image was tarnished.

After the incident, damage control had to be done, and that included saving the image of FB. The bestowing of TN of an iconic role to her was looked upon as a way to save her image. At the onset, the series was met with criticisms of the production design. The stellar cast could not generate more interest than the failed computer effects.

Just as the series was picking up, FB found herself in an ugly incident involving the significant other (SO) of a close relative. Instead of acknowledging each other, FB lambasted SO with a mouthful about SO’s not being classy enough to attend such party. Karma was fast, and a few days later, FB got into an accident that damaged her skin. Although FB got sympathy for her mishap, this did not translate into ratings. The series ended with not much fanfare.

The question is whether TN was successful in cleaning up the act of FB with the teleserye. TN did not milk the series enough to maximize the projection of FB. FB embodies the image of the station as well as of her endorsements that comprise quite a chunk in terms of her income. Therefore, a negative image of FB will not be healthy for TN.
