Her Knee-Jerk Punch

Few months back, now Fulfilled Actress FA was disheartened and full of disgust at the way her career had turned out. She believed that her efforts and preparations for a project were suddenly sideswiped supposedly because of politics. FA thought that she could do no more at that point and decided to pack her bags for a breather.

Thus her recent comeback topped with a huge milestone was a shock to her. To her, it was a major vindication, a well-deserved award that surpassed even her biggest expectation.

Still savoring her euphoria at the moment, FA feels recharged and is hopeful that things would be better again. She believes that she had to refocus once more and delete all the bitterness of the past.

But everyone knows that even for the most ardent, it is not always easy to walk the talk.

Backstage, as preparations were being done prior to a big event, FA couldn’t help herself when she met her Erstwhile Nemesis EN along the corridors of the venue. Suddenly, she became stiff and her face turned red. After the event, FA was overheard telling a friend verbatim, “Nasira ang gabi ko, nakita ko si bakla, katabi ko pa sa dressing room!”

To which someone reportedly remarked in silence, “Good luck if EN ever cared. “

TV5 Backs Paolo Bediones Amid Alleged Sex Video Scandal

Television network TV5 expressed support for Paolo Bediones amid a sex video allegedly featuring the news anchor and host making the rounds on social media.

"The recent issue involving our news anchor, Paolo Bediones, on social media is a purely personal and private matter in which TV5 has no involvement or desire to intrude," TV5 said in the statement.

"We accord our employees and talents all respect that are due them for their privacy and personal action or decision.

"We disapprove strongly the malicious and wanton publication of the video, an act that clearly violates pertinent cybercrime laws.

"We firmly express our support for our anchor Paolo Bediones in the face of a controversy that represents nothing more than an attempt to smear his reputation."

Bediones' name was a trending topic on Twitter on Saturday because of the spread of a sex video allegedly featuring him and an unidentified woman.

Efforts to contact Bediones through his manager Noel Ferrer went unanswered.

Last week, reporter Alex Brosas of tabloid Bandera noted that there were industry rumors that Bediones had a video that was making the rounds online.

Lyca is 'Voice Kids' Champion

A nine-year-old girl who used to scavenge junk in her native Cavite was named the first-ever winner of "The Voice Kids" in the Philippines on Sunday at the Newport Performing Arts Theater in Resorts World Manila.

Lyca Gairanod, one of Team Sarah's two bets in the "Final Showdown" of the hit talent search, clinched the title after getting the highest percentage of public votes.

Teammate Darren Espanto finished 1st-runner up, while Team Bamboo's Juan Karlos Labajo and Team Lea's Darlene Vibrares and finished as runner-ups of the competition.

During the performance night on Saturday, Gairanod impressed the coaches with her performance of the Regine Velasquez classic, "Narito Ako."

"You are our superstar. Ipinakita mo ang iyong...napakalaki ng potensyal mong bata ka eh, 'yung galing mo sa pagkanta, 'yung galing mo sa pagkonekta sa meaning ng kinakanta mo, 'yung kwento ng awitin na 'yun," her coach Sarah Geronimo said.

Gainarod also sang Carly Rae Jepsen's hit "Call Me Maybe"

The nine-year-old has been likened to screen veteran Nora Aunor, herself a singing champion, because of her humble background and talent.

In Tanza, she helped her mother, Maria Nessel, scavenge junk to sell. She would also perform for her neighbors for extra cash. With her father's earnings as a fisherman, along with they got from scavenging, was enough to send her to school.

Sunday's results show was a star-studded affair, with performances from several guests, including Martin Nievera, Lani Misalucha, Gary Valenciano, and iconic OPM band Aegis.

This was on top of special numbers from coaches Geronimo, Bamboo Manalac, and Lea Salonga.

As the "Final Showdown" aired on Sunday, viewers took to Twitter to air their reactions, making several hashtags related to "The Voice Kids" trend locally and worldwide on the micro-blogging site.

The official hashtag #TheVoiceKidsChampions was quickly among the top local trends, along with other terms and phrases such as #TVKDarrenForTheChampion and #WowAngGwapoNiLuis.

The strong buzz surrounding the "The Voice Kids" online -- it consistently topped trending topics during its weekend telecasts -- was also reflected in its viewership over the last two months since its May premiere.

In June, "The Voice Kids" averaged a national TV rating of 35.6%, according to multi-national market research group Kantar Media, making it the No. 1 program in the Philippines for the month. Last June 15, it registed an audience share of 37.5%, the season's highest.

ABS-CBN's "The Voice Kids" is one of over 50 international versions of the talent search, including the format for adults.

The second season of "The Voice of the Philippines," the Kapamilya network's adults edition, is expected to premiere later this year.

Rudely Coming In and Out

Most celebrities opt to live in villages that can protect their privacy. This measure assures unwanted fans and paparazzi, who will have to pass through the gate and gain clearance before they can enter, will not hound celebrities. While some non-celebrity villagers take pride in having a celebrity for a neighbor, others are not too keen on having celebrities living in their area. Sometimes, the presence of celebrity-neighbors can lead to extra security measures that can impede the daily living of the village. Moreover, the presence can lead to the disruption of the privacy of the whole neighborhood.

Discourteous Actress (DA) lives in a village where her privacy is assured, and where villagers live unmindful of her presence. The villagers treat DA like an ordinary neighbor, and they mind their own business.

During a typical day in the village, a help left the gate open while she was attending to a delivery. Suddenly, a huge dog came in the garage. A few seconds later, a car stopped in front of the said house, and DA stepped out. DA furiously entered the house and yelled at the help, “Ate! Sara mo yung gate!” This gate led to the wash area of the house.

Just as quickly as she unceremoniously entered, she marched out of the property without any apology or thank you. The help and the delivery boys were left stunned. They were still too shocked at the behavior of DA. Instead of praising her looks, the boys felt her rudeness, “Napakasungit!”

While the intentions of DA were perhaps done in good faith, the witnesses felt she was ill mannered and disrespectful in coming in and out of a private property. DA could use a few more tips in improving her manners, which could very well result in something positive for her expressed desire to change her image. Effective changes should come from within.

Manners are a sensitive awareness of the feelings of others. If you have that awareness, you have good manners, no matter what fork you use. -Emily Post
