Authentic Self

Liking and disliking personalities result from diverse factors. Celebrities are liked because they have a certain appeal. Such appeal can be physical beauty, genuine talent, or the unexplainable X-factor. Some lucky ones have all. Similarly, certain celebrities are disliked because of their negative appeal even if they possess talent or admirable looks. Their personalities on or off camera just rub people the wrong way.

Popular Personality (PP)’s appeal is physical and innate. PP has amassed a following who seem to believe in her causes and sincerity in promoting various programs. However, the past might catch up on PP if stories about her young past emerge. For example, she was not exactly a saint then and might even be tagged as bully given her behavior. Allegedly, she vandalized school property by writing bad words against a fellow student. Her attitude towards her mother was not pleasant as well. Those incidents would not speak well of her image these days.

As the cliché goes, time is the great healer and changer. In her case, time led to maturity and perhaps a new perspective on life and treating others. PP probably went through an undesirable young phase before. If her current image is now authentic, then time was successful in changing her for the better.

The natural cycle of a celebrity’s career includes the highs and lows. While some artists are lucky and smart to remain on the highs, others are not as blessed and stay at their lows for a time. The reality is that a talent is only as good as his/her last project. If the project rates and earns well, that talent is guaranteed a next project. By contrast, if the project only lasts a season or only a few weeks, that talent might be relegated to the freezer and subsequently leave.

The situation these days is worsened by the pandemic and management concerns. Only the talents who have the Midas touch seem to be assured of a future with a management. Acting awards and other recognitions are no longer factors if the talent fails to bring in the ratings and the ads. Thus, to lessen the expenses of the management, talents are let go and contracts are reviewed and revised. Take it or leave it.

Sometime ago, many talents were rumored to be changing management as a result of non-contract renewal, artistic reasons, and better offers. Time has revealed these personalities. The reactions of the public varied, and no one was spared from positive and negative comments. Meanwhile, the grapevine is abuzz that Influential Personality (IP) has called the attention of a management to check into the future of Versatile Talent (VT). VT has been counted as among the ones who will be moving on. The management is rumored to be unable to refuse IP and his request indeed has to be reviewed. Allegedly, IP has a soft spot for VT and the two were subjects of gossip long ago. As IP keeps a low profile, the rumor of the special connection was not blown up then. For now, VT staying on or not remains to be seen as well as if IP still has a hold on the decision-makers.

It’s Legacy

When Talented Artist (TA) was spotted by executives as a possible new star for their network, they gave her a break that was highly coveted. After all, with no so-called insider contacts, TA was lucky to be noticed. TA’s projects came one after the other. However, TA was involved in a few controversies during her career, which forced her to go on break.

As soon as the aired cleared, TA made a comeback and was soon part of the management’s lineup. Time passed and the day that most talents dread came. TA’s contract lapsed. TA sent feelers to other management agencies, but they were not interested. TA needed the work as she has a family to help out. Besides, she was unable to complete her study, which is a fallback, because she prioritized her career. TA asked her contacts why and they said no reason was given. A few more probes and TA received a possible answer.

Sometime during her career, an insider advised TA to change her name, which was a common practice to add recall. TA refused and said that she was holding on to her family’s legacy. Stubborn as she was, she stuck to the name she wanted to be known. Several popular celebrities had been in the same predicament and they made a similar stand, which proved correct.

When TA learned that the past incident concerning her name was an issue, she said she was willing to follow the repackaging. Too late. TA was already known by the name that the insider did not like then and still now.

New Favorite (NF) could not believe how fast time flew and career opportunities are now coming to him left and right. Allegedly, NF has been presented two lucrative projects and either would do wonders for his career. All he had to do is choose between replacing an actor in a project and being the leading man in a much-awaited series.

However, things were not as good now before for NF. There was a time when he struggled with his acting and was pressured to elevate his ability in a short period. Sadly, when his break came, NF’s personal life became a mess. His girlfriend decided to go astray and the rumored third party denied an affair was happening to NF. When the bubble burst, NF could not believe what he had endured. He realized he was used to gain mileage. Emotionally, he had to make sense of the events in his personal life.

Luck was on the side of NF for having good, sympathetic mentors. One mentor advised him to distance himself from His Ex (HE) and focus on his career. NF followed that advice. When NF finally regained his confidence, HE sent a text expressing good wishes and said he should prioritize his career. NF did not reply and he was just chill over the message. After sometime, HE sent another message asking if NF could reach out to an executive on her behalf for a project. Again, NF was not receptive as he felt he was bound to be used again.

Missing Boys

When the gyms closed due to the pandemic, many health buffs resorted to exercising in open spaces. The personal workouts proved more enticing when done with friends. Sometime ago, regulars of a popular open space looked forward to seeing Actor Buddy 1 (AB1) and Actor Buddy 2 (AB2) do their routines. They waited when the two friends would remove their top and move around showing off their abs.

One time, AB1 and AB2 stayed late in the area. Although the people are few at night, the frail light enhanced security measures. One of the guards noticed that a car was parked in a dark area and pointed his flashlight at the location of the car. Behold, he saw someone kneeling in front of another, pants down. The guard recognized the faces and a public scandal was in the offing. The guard asked for identification and called for backup. AB1 and AB2 showed their IDs.

AB1 said AB2 wanted to take a leak and they were about to leave already. However, AB2 was bitten by an insect. AB1 was helping AB2 to get rid of the insect, which explains their position caught by the guard. The guard did not buy the alibi and wanted to bring the two to the nearest station. Immediately, AB1 offered money to the guard. AB2 emptied his wallet and said they wanted to help the guard during the pandemic. The guard accepted and told them not to repeat their deed.

The story travelled by word of mouth, but the two never showed up again and their fans wondered why they disappeared.
