Looking Away

One of the factors that could be considered as key to the successful career of a celebrity is the number of fans who are consistently showing support. These days, fans are more expressive in their admiration toward their idols. On the one hand, they can be very generous shower their idols with gifts that can be quite pricey at times. On the other hand, they can be too comfortable and resort to social media to air their praises and grievances toward their revered celebrities.

While some fans can be meddlesome for no reason at all, others use social media to issue a wakeup call if they observe or even experience something that is not right in the way their idols are handling things. Sometime ago, fans of young Controversial Celebrity (CC) took their gripes to CC’s social media account.

The issues of the fans were not against CC per se, but towards Someone Influential (SI) in her life. Allegedly, SI has taken control of the earnings of CC and has placed her under a very small budget, which is not commensurate to the work she has been doing as the sole breadwinner of her family.

Even expenses that are related to work, such as needs of a stylist or a glam team, are controlled by CC. Fans are sad that instead of shelling out money to make CC look good, the refusal of SI to spend on such necessities has made CC look cheap and thus, her looking good seems to be hard to accomplish on limited budget.

The way SI is keeping CC’s finances has become a point of contention among fans, some of which have also felt mistreated by SI, who has kept her social media account private and even blocked some of the fans of CC who have been supporting her since she started her career. Meanwhile, others have left CC’s fandom and chose to support other celebrities.

As fans continue to air their grievances, CC has decided to make her account dormant and look away from the issue. Besides, CC, perhaps, could no longer stand that her social media accounts have turned into a battleground for issues of what SI is allegedly doing with her earnings. However, CC has decided to open up her account once more.

The case of CC and SI is not new, as several more famous celebrities are living with the same conditions, that is, despite their being cash cows, they cannot even decide on what to do with the fruits of their labor. People around them, like SI, are the ones getting most benefits.
