Pushing Creativity

Not every viewer appreciates the behind the scene work put into a series aired on TV or a movie that is shown in the theaters or online channels. However, work is more taxing for a television project, as the production team has to contend with the pressure of making their project rate and gain endorsers. Only through careful and meticulous planning can such be accomplished but nothing is guaranteed.
When a Network Project (NP) was initially broached to its creative team, NP set off excitement. After all, NP would be casting several of a network’s young and talented actors. In addition, the story itself was enriched with many twists and challenging scenes. Another challenge was how to sustain interest in the series and keep the audiences glued to their watching.
Thus, planning started long before NP was even scheduled to be aired. The creative team spent long hours in meetings to thresh out details and to ensure that the cast would be given ample roles in the storyline. It took the team several months until the script was finalized and for the cameras to roll for the pilot.
After the first airing, NP was met with positive reviews. The team was happy, as not only were they competing against shows in other networks that share the timeslot, they were also competing with other creative teams in the same network. Thus, much had to be proven.
One day, all their planning went down the drain, as NP had to undergo changes if it wanted to stay afloat. Someone bailed out and that action was enough to negate most of the planning done by the team. Rumors have it that NP might have even have to be cut short because of that departure.
Faced with the challenge that could abruptly end NP, the creative team pushed their pencils harder. Through camaraderie, patience, and creativity, the team revised most of their plans for the series. A stumbling block was how to ensure that the plotline would remain plausible and meeting after meeting, the creative team stood by their revised plans. Months after that rumors of being cancelled, NP remains strong because the production people did not give up even if others already had. Such work is often taken for granted by viewers, who only care about what they see onscreen and remain unaware of the process that goes behind it. With the creative team’s determination to move, the network ought to be thankful, as viewers continue to stick it out with NP.

TV personalities Ces Drilon, Marie Lozano and other members of ABS-CBN News and Current Affairs are facing arrest over the libel complaint filed by Gretchen Fullido for allegedly damaging her reputation.
The resolution, signed on April 29 by Quezon City Chief Prosecutor Vilma Barcellano, reverted the earlier dismissal of Fullido’s complaint. It stated that Fullido’s complaint against broadcast journalist Cecilia ‘Ces’ Drilon, showbiz news reporter Marie Lozano, and news executive Venancio Borromeo have a solid basis.
On March, QC Prosecutors had dismissed Fullido’s complaint saying that the statements of Drilon and Lozano are not libelous and ‘fall within the category of a conditionally or qualifiedly privileged communication.’
After seeing a probable cause on the complaint, the chief prosecutor recommended releasing a warrant of arrest against the three involved personalities.
Fullido sued Drilon, Lozano, and ABS-CBN executive Venancio Borromeo for libel for allegedly damaging her reputation by saying she filed sexual harassment complaints to leverage her employment status at the network.
Drilon said Fullido’s allegations against her were “unthinkable.” Meanwhile, ABS-CBN management dismissed the sexual harassment case, but held Favila liable for gross misconduct, leading to her dismissal.
