Outburst from Nowhere

The outburst of Seasoned Performer (SP) early in the morning prior to a show shocked Noted Celebrity (NC), especially when he could not defend himself at that moment. Between SP and NC, the former is known to be outspoken, whereas the latter is known to be calm and mild-mannered. However, that incident was indeed uncalled for.

SP arrived early and proceeded to his usual dressing room, which has always been assigned to him ever since he started with the show. The dressing room was prized because it was near the stage, and thus, moving was convenient. SP does not have to take a long walk from the room to his performance. To his surprise, NC and Another Performer (AP) were already occupying the said dressing room. Worse, SP was assigned a dressing room that was far from the stage.

When SP saw NC, he minced no words and confronted his fellow performer. He said that they had welcomed the new arrivals, but then why should they take what has always been theirs for a long time. SP was very much offended, but NC kept his cool, as he had nothing to do with dressing room assignments. Besides, with changes in the production team, the new heads were allegedly responsible for assigning which artist will occupy a specific room. As NC and AP have more appearances on stage, the logic is that they should be nearer the stage so they can be easily called and quickly change for their next numbers.

So as not to aggravate the situation in later shows, NC requested that he and his team, with AP, too, be assigned a dressing room far from the more senior performers of the said show. While NC and AP seem to be treated like royalty in front of the cameras, nothing could be said to be the same behind the scenes. Apparently, not everyone is comfortable with the newcomers.

Making up an Image

Sometimes, an artist can already gain fame with one or two songs and hordes of followers. The challenge comes on sustain this fame for the artist who wants to establish a career. After all, a one-hit wonder is just a passing fancy for the public.

When Hit Singer (HS) broke into the music scene, she immediately gained the nod of the mainstream audience who were waiting for a new and fresh sound from new artists. Not only did HS receive the admiration of millennials, her song performances were appreciated across ages. Thus, her management knew HS was a potential star.

One song played on the radio or via online streaming sites is not enough if an artist wants to have a career in the entertainment industry. Hence, HS needed to go through the usual route of concerts on campus, provinces, or any event that required her talent. Her presence would mean much to the audience of such events.

However, as the gigs of HS continue, many have noticed certain traits that seem to contradict her image of being well-mannered and polite. Allegedly, HS has had several instances of coming late to her shows, which made the audience wait for hours just to see her perform. In a gig, HS showed up, performed, and asked the audience to sing with her. Nothing wrong with that, except that HS made the audience sing more than half way through her songs. HS excused herself by citing fatigue and throat issues. As for an encore number, as predicted, HS did not do any.

After performing, artists are usually requested to stay for photo-op with fans. With HS, such is impossible, as she refuses to pose with fans and simply walks away when her numbers are done. Allegedly, even the organizer of one of her concerts was unable to have a photo with her.

While her career seems to be moving up, HS might soon wake up to find out that she had lost her connection with the audience. Word travels fast these days and listeners sometimes consider the overall character of a performer before patronizing his/her music. Sooner or later, people might realize that the image HS is projecting contradicts her behavior behind the scenes. If HS continues with her aloof ways, which can be rude at times, she might just have to think if she wants to continue entertaining her audience.
