Being Too Confident

Showbiz Personality (SP) has recently been given a major break by a huge station amidst the almost overcrowding in its roster of potential celebrities. The camp of SP was probably banking on her looks and talent as well as the fact that she did not have to undergo any audition to start her career. SP had connections in the industry, which might have made her confident that she would immediately make it.

Meanwhile, Newbie Group (NG), which is composed of raw talent and backed up by fan support, was all optimistic that they would make their mark in the network. As the group did not have any connection, all they had were their talent and guts to make it. Any project that was assigned to them was met with open arms. Soon, they had to be comfortable with the idea that they could be rubbing elbows with their celebrity idols and eventually work with them.

One time, SP and NG found themselves in rehearsals for numbers in a show. SP behaved like she was a notch above everyone else. The more senior members of the show were offended as SP did not even bother to greet them, while NG behaved well and said ‘Hi!’ to everyone. During a lull, someone said that SP and NG should have their photo taken, as NG was starstruck at seeing SP. SP excused herself and said that she will just come out later.

Then, SP was told that she would be having a number with Famous Talent (FT), who is so far the most successful among the members of NG. SP hesitated as she believed FT was cheap, and she did not want to be associated with the lower strata of the society. This remark reached an older relative, who had to remind SP that she has to follow if she wants to stay in the business. In other words, SP has to let go of her privileged-life attitude and go with the flow. The secret of a successful career is to gain the favor of the masses, who are eager to show support through fan activities, kind words, and generous gifts.

Time can be cruel. While SP looked down on FT, the latter had a project that eventually showed to the former the power of being one with the masses. Her work was gratified by sold-out sales. By contrast, the project of SP was way below in the charts.

Just Don’t Block the Fame

Stage Mother (SM) is at it again, and this time, she’s unhappy with a recent decision of a network concerning her Precious Daughter (PD). Ever since PD started working in the industry, SM has been very protective of the decisions made for her child. Quite understandably, at that time, PD was still young and SM wanted to make sure every detail in a project or even in a contract would be for the benefit of the career of PD.

Since then, production teams have to work with SM and adhere to most of her request, as PD is one of the top stars of the network. Hence, SM always has to be listened to. Until now, production people have tried their best to understand where SM is coming from despite the fact that PD is already of age and has shed off her baby fat.

After PD’s project, a loveteam was formed, much to the chagrin of SM. If there is one thing that the network can brag about, it’s the list of many good-looking and competent male talents in their roll. Thus, SM had her eyes on one of the boys with foreign blood (FB). She had hoped that PD would find time to develop a certain level of closeness with FB even after their project was over. Unfortunately, the network did not see it worthy to pair off PD with FB, as the reception of the fans favored Another Talent (AT).

Meanwhile, insiders have noticed that SM seems to keep making comments against the contemporaries of PD, which actually reflects her very diverse character compared with PD. Among the talents of the big network, PD is among the most polite and kind according to the fans. Thus, kibitzers could not help but compare SM and even suspect her of not being satisfied with the status of PD in the network. SM could not really do much, but bicker, as production teams are really banking on the loveteam of PD and AT. Incidentally, AT is rumored to have a real girlfriend, which could diminish the potential of his partnership with PD.
