In an act that may spark condemnation from women’s groups, President Duterte let loose his philandering self as he openly flirted with Vice President Leni Robredo in front of hundreds of survivors of Supertyphoon “Yolanda” in Tacloban City on Tuesday.
Speaking at the event marking the tragedy’s third year, Mr. Duterte told his audience how he and Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez once ogled at Robredo’s knees during a Cabinet meeting.
He said Robredo, who visibly looked uneasy while the President was talking about her, would come to their meeting in MalacaƱang wearing short skirts.
“Please don’t be offended (with what I have said) because I’m not mad. You would know I’m mad when I start looking at beautiful women,” Mr. Duterte said in Filipino as he stared at the Vice President, eliciting giggles from the crowd.
He said he used to seat beside Robredo during their Cabinet meeting, but the protocol officer in MalacaƱang apparently noticed that he would just stay behind her.
“You know ma’am Leni would always wear skirts which are shorter than usual. At one time, Dominguez asked me come closer because I was far from them. But I told him, ‘Come here. Look at (Robredo’s) knees,’” he said as the crowd rolled in laughter.
“Maybe she noticed (that I was looking at her). I wanted to tell her, ‘Ma’am maybe next time you just wear shorts… But after our third meeting, she was already there at the far end of the table. I lost the view during the Cabinet meeting,” he continued.
Before concluding his speech, Mr. Duterte sang a line from Anthony Castelo’s song “Malayo Ang Tingin.”
The President also asked Robredo, the widow of the late Interior Secretary Jesse Robredo, in jest if rumors were true that she had found a boyfriend. “Don’t be offended. Is it true? If it’s true, a congressman may be killed.”
Mr. Duterte said he would often tease Robredo to lighten the mood when their meetings become dull and filled with tension.
The President had previously earned the ire of women’s groups for kissing young women during the campaign.

Making Sure All Ends are Neatly Tied
Adding to this worry is the arrest of various showbiz personalities who have been tagged as pushers. The authorities have been vocal that their list of showbiz users and pushers has been enriched by the information given by the arrested personalities. However, many well respected actors and actresses have called for the non-revelation of the list because such exposure might suddenly bring ruin to those personalities included. Groups have requested that they be the ones to discipline their ranks.
While the debate on whether to make public the list or not, several personalities had the initiative to undergo drug testing and post their negative results. Although these results have been met with skepticism, the posts appease fans and assure them that their idols are clean. Nonetheless, Creative Actor (CA) had some major cleaning up done in order not hide what he has allegedly been growing in a farm somewhere.
As CA could be considered among the more liberal minded actors, his views on certain topics are controversial, and thus, sometimes doubts are cast on his real personality. When it came to the war of drugs, the response of CA were twofold. First, he posted his results of a drug test, which was obviously a public means of showing that he is clean. Second, he ordered people to harvest his controversial plants. Not only were the products harvested, they were buried deep in the ground. Burning was out of the question, as the smoke would smell and catch attention of his neighbors. Such cleanup was done in case the police would conduct a spot-check. In addition, his team made sure that he would not be investigated at any given time. Thus, they had allegedly given a token to possible personalities who might involve CA in anything that has to do with the drug campaign.

Movie Review: The Escort

How do you put a price on a woman’s virginity? How does society see a woman who values her virginity in this day and age? To what extent will she succumb to give it all up?
The film " The Escort " shows how Yassi (Lovi Poe) single handedly faces the conflicting issues in her life while trying to stand up to preserve herself in the process.
Cyrus (Derek Ramsay) maintains an escort service agency that caters to an elite clientele. He meets pretty waitress Yassi and invites/lures her to work as a receptionist in his company with a much bigger paycheck as a come on.
" The Escort " gives the viewers a peek at an industry that is not openly talked about, how escort girls deal with unimaginable difficulties from all sorts of clients in exchange for the big bucks and luxury at their disposal.
Director Enzo Williams, award-winning filmmaker known for his controversial film, Bonifacio: Ang Unang Pangulo, offers The Escort, a film with a fresh and interesting plot that has not been tackled before.
Days of working for the escort agency has exposed Yassi to the unsavory side of the business which she has managed to embrace if only for the money to feed and send her siblings to school. This is amid the pressure put on her by Cyrus to ’level up’ and join the other girls and meet clients out.
Lovi fits her role to a T, her stunning presence is matched by her calm demeanor amid exchange of meaty dialogues between her and the two men who strongly desire her, her boss Cyrus and the widower and powerful businessman Gary Montenilla (Christopher de Leon).
The movie is also an eye-opener, relevant to the present, in this generation where only a handful care about values, where materialism matters more than anything.
Apart from the story, the movie has a good cast, Derek and Christopher are incredible bargainers who pursue to win Lovi’s heart. Its beautiful cinematography and music, notably those shots of Derek and Lovi in their steamy bed scenes, all done with taste, careful not to offend. Derek’s gentleman approach towards his partner is quite commendable.
Christopher’s character as Gary, a recently widowed businessman who is instantly smitten by Yassi and his strong resolve to have her at all cost is quite unconventional. His wheeler dealer reputation he uses to his advantage to get what he wants. His role is just as exciting and he could have been given more screen time.
All the other cast delivered no less, Dimples Romana, as an aging escort provided the funny punchlines. Jean Garcia as a two-timing mayor’s wife is a brave one here who is in for a surprise. The only miscast probably would be Rommel Padilla who is not convincing enough as a tough, corrupt, ex-convict mayor.
All told, The Escort may yet be Regal’s most relevant movie this year. If only the film outfit will be consistent in giving the movie going public well-thought out movies like this, then probably, they have a chance to regain their lost glory.
Other stars in the movie are Albie Casino, Jackie Lou Blanco, John James Uy. Catch it in cinemas.

Repost: Renz Fernandez Hopes Brother Mark Anthony Will be Set Free

Actor Renz Fernandez is hoping that his brother, Mark Anthony Fernandez, who was arrested for illegal drugs, will be freed soon.
In a press conference on Tuesday for "OTJ: The Series," Renz vouched for his brother, saying hie is a good man.
"Sana pakawalan na siya kasi mabait sya. Hindi ko pwede ikwento buong istorya baka magalit ang abugado. Sana makalaya na siya, 'yun ang pangarap ko," he said.
Mark Anthony was arrested last October 3 by police in Pampanga province for marijuana possession. The former matinee idol allegedly tried to slip past a police checkpoint, which led to a car chase resulting in police being forced to shoot the tire of Fernandez's car.
The actor was later arrested in San Fernando.
Renz admitted that their family is affected by the case.
"Actually 'di ko pwede i-discuss masyado dahil sabi ng abugado. Pero bilang pamilya masakit sa amin," said Renz, who also reported that Mark is not doing well in jail.
But Renz assured that he and his family will be there to support Mark.
"Sabi niya tulungan ko siya. Sabi ko huwag siyang susuko at malalampasan nya 'yon," Renz said.
Renz is the son of the late action star Rudy Fernandez and veteran actress Lorna Tolentino, while Mark Anthony is Fernandez's son with Alma Moreno.
After his Mark Anthony was arrested, he posted a photo of them as young boys, with the caption: "You are in my prayers kind brother."
