Savvy for Money?

Talented Star TS had an out-of-town show recently which was hugely successful. She was in high spirits during the concert and was mobbed by her over-eager fans. The Head of the City HC learned about the show and he instructed The Producer TP to invite TS in the city's office. After the show and before heading back to Manila, TP immediately discussed the courtesy call to HC's office. TS' camp asked if TS would be paid extra for the requested appearance. When told that there would be no additional fees, they became disinterested and made excuses that TS has bruises on her body that resulted from the mobbing of the fans during the show, and therefore would not be "nice" to do a courtesy call.
TP knew that it was just an alibi, he was pissed and slighted that HC's invitation was turned down. He fumed and threatened that if TS would not appear in HC's office, she would be banned and would no longer be allowed to perform in the province. The threat seemed real and thus TS group was forced to comply.
When they finally appeared at the office of HC, TS and her group were warmly welcomed. However, TP and his team noticed something very obvious - there were no visible marks on TS to justify the previous excuse. Apparently, it was just a bluff to avoid the invitation after learning that there would be no payment involved. Big stars should earn not always be money-motivated for every little act requested of hem. Déclassée.

Don't Condone His Lies!

Not a few will contest that once seated in position, some of these power hungry “public servants” will circumvent the law once they or any family member gets in trouble. “What are we in power for?” is an oft-repeated phrase or ‘mantra’ whispered and practiced among themselves. Coined by a supposedly honorable senator decades ago, the quote caught on and is now being used and abused. Seriously, “what are we in power for” has now become the face of most public servants -- the rule rather than the exception.
An occasional actor OA who is the son of a veteran actor and public servant AP was driving his car drunk when he hit a girl in her 20’s GR walking along the road. GR was hurt but managed to get up, only to find OA speeding away from the scene – in short – hit and run. But onlookers saw it was OA who was behind the wheel -- drunk. OA is a resident of that southern town and his presence is a familiar sight among residents there. Witnesses were able to record the car’s plate number and other details. Since he is known to be the son of AP, his residence was easily tracked down.
GR got herself treated in the hospital for wounds and bruises. Soon after, together with her uncle, they went to the residence of OA with the intention of reporting the matter to his father AP. When they were finally face to face with him, GR and her uncle told him of the accident involving OA’s drunk-driving that hit GR. To their surprise, AP denied it outright, saying that his son is in no way guilty of the accusation and will never do a hit and run.
In his usual arrogant manner, he made GR and her uncle appeared like bullies accusing his son, instead of the other way around. Oh boy!
At any rate, what do we expect? His actuation is a foregone conclusion. He has been a big disappointment as a public servant, even causing headaches to the current head of the region.

His Ulterior Motive

As they stepped out of the hotel elevator on the way to the café, they saw Public Servant PS at close range who seemed to be on his way to the café also. Being familiar with Philippine politics, BB knew who PS was, and as a sign of respect ,he and BU greeted him good morning. The good PS smiled and greeted them back.
While they were walking, PS was extra ordinarily friendly and chatty with BB and BU. On the other hand, the two guys were cool enough exchanging pleasantries with him. PS even complimented BB and said that he had nice get-up and physique. PS was asking them what were they up to that morning. When told that BB and BU were going to have a quick bite at the café before heading to Boracay. PS said that he was also going to the cafe for a meeting, and while it’s still early he proposed to share a table with them while waiting for his appointment.
At the table while having coffee, PS was becoming more comfortable making banter with BB and BU as if he was already long time friends with the two guys. But BB was the opposite - he was getting uneasy with PS’ demeanor and the way he looked at him was so suspect.
When BB and BD sensed that PS would stay with them longer on their table, they decided to forego their planned big breakfast and took something light instead so they could already leave PS. But before they could do that, PS managed to ask BB for his number. But the uninterested BB was quick to give him the run-around – that he did not have a Philippine number since he just arrived in the Manila the previous night.
Looking disappointed , PS gave his business card nonetheless - and with a smile told them to keep in touch.
The two gentlemen left in a huff – without looking back!
