Lackluster Attitude

Gone are the days when the cast of a movie would go all out to promote their movie without much hassle. These days, actors and actresses must have the clause that propels them to promote their project in their contracts. Otherwise, they will not move an inch to promote their projects, as they have already been paid for their services in the movie. Thus, regardless of the project’s outcome for the producer, certain celebrities do not really care to go that extra mile.

While the box-office reputation of celebrities does not really last forever, the status of Versatile Actress (VA) moved down quicker than expected. Once a sure draw for her the box-office returns of projects, VA has descended. One project after another, VA has brought minimal success. It’s not that her projects were poorly done, somehow the magic at the tills is no longer there.

Many factors can be pinpointed as to why VA seems unable to hit that box-office on her own. However, one reason had to do with her attitude. With her management experimenting on trying to make her a solo bankable talent, the production could not seem to come up with the right mix of cast members. Thus, VA’s disappointment entered and she did not mince words concerning the non-significant status of her co-stars. With a cast who does not have her expected star value, VA allegedly lost interest to exert effort to promote her projects.

When she was asked to do shows in provincial malls to promote her project, she thumbed down the idea and opted for the city malls. However, she was told that no one would pay much attention to her in the city malls, as mallers would rather shop and not usually pay attention to celebrities. By contrast, mallers in the provincial malls would be curious that a named celebrity would take time to be with them. Seeing a celebrity spend much travel time to be with them would result in positive responses for projects of VA now and in the future. Despite that justification, VA remained firm and simply said that her fanbase would ensure the financial success of her projects. Unfortunately, the fanbase was too small to make a hit.

With such a nonchalant attitude, the management allegedly decided to pull her out of a big project that would have allowed her to work with seasoned actors. The management had already invested in the said project even before the cameras have started rolling and the heads wanted assurance that they would not be in the red this time. Despite the press release of VA, the grapevine says a different story. The heads did not want to take the risk of VA giving them the attitude of not wanting to promote her project.
