The handlers of AY knew exactly where to position their talent. Instead of letting her go through reality shows or contests, they built her up like previous practices. In addition, they skipped the girl-next-door sweet image as far as her roles were concerned. Her projects challenged her skills and the critics noticed that she was indeed talented.
However, despite her competence and a familiar sounding name, AY has not achieved at least a substantial percentage compared to that of the endearment that VP receives from her fans. Unlike VP, AY lacks a significant trait for someone who wants to truly make it big in the local showbiz industry.
Part of becoming a star in the field is the connection of a personality with his/her fans. Thus, other than exhibiting talent, a personality needs to establish closeness with fans or else he/she will not have much success. The personality must play along with the demands of fans, who could be quite demanding and pushy when it comes to simple activities, like asking for a photo or a greeting. While short of being labeled as shallow, local fans are easy to satisfy. For example, a smile or a wave could suffice.
Unfortunately, AY seems to be missing the amiable personality that fans expect from a celebrity. For instance, in shows, VP would be chummy with her fans and would accommodate picture-taking. By contrast, AY has the opposite attitude.
Sometime ago, AY was seen in an out of town location. Naturally, residents who saw her in the area requested for a picture. It was not as if AY was having a meal or she was busy with shooting. As fans approached, someone appeared and told them AY does not grant requests for photos with fans. In other words, she will not be posing with anyone. The fans were shocked, as they realized that had VP been the one, she would have stopped for a few minutes to accommodate her fans. In the case of AY, she does not want any fan near her. Thus, one of the fans whom she turned down at that moment realized the reason for the lack of popularity of AY was obvious, that is, she does not bother with the simple requests of fans. Only time would tell if AY would last long enough without realizing that fans are significant people in one’s career. Fans who are turned off by her snobbish behavior might just turn away and move on to someone worthier of their time and affection.
